Thank you Tom for being honest about the greatness of Macan and the benefit of Porsche producing SUVs. I can't stand all these so called "true enthusiasts" who cry whenever they see a performance SUV/crossover. To me this is the Porsche that makes sense if I would just get one great car for all seasons and purposes.
My favorite Macan review on youtube. Bought a Rhodium Silver S two weeks ago and love it! I think if you spec it right, you can really get the best value for money on the market with a Porsche Macan S!!

My next door neighbor has the performance version the SQ5 and even with the optional 20" wheels it feels completely different. Unlike the Porsche you know your driving a SUV. The amazing part is my 70k Macan was within a few thousand dollars of her SQ5.Keep the reviews coming.
My wife drives a Macan S, the first thing she (and I) noticed when we test drove it were the 100,000 buttons. I think they charged us a per button prices, I asked for the 4 button trim option...
Tom, I sat in the Macan at the Indianapolis Auto Show. And fell in love with it, but didn't fall in love with the MSRP. The turbo V6 in the Porsche Macan can fetch $81k.

Drewbie85 new mid life crisis version is due end 2018 with restyled bumper up front and yes horrible black shiny screens to replace practical and safer buttons. New version from ground up is due mid 2020 and as I have a 2017 Macan S Diesel Turbo version I'm waiting for the 2020 version so I can order that
I have owned 4 Porsches and they are fantastic and everything but you still have to run the damn things.. It's not all it's cracked up to be!! Great reviews.

If the car is named after the Indonesian word for tiger, then everyone's pronouncing it wrong. Macan is not Ma-Kan, It's Ma-Chan. Yeah, I'll try it this weekend. I'll go to the local Porsche dealer and say "I want to look at the Machan."
+cizzane46 I've seen the F Pace, have not driven it. Even had the pleasure to talk to the designer Ian Callum for 10 minutes which was a real treat. Definitely feels like a larger car than Macan. I am scheduled for a press car already, just not sure when it will arrive. At least three weeks off. Sorry I can't be of more help.

chris ina Also own a Subaru. You cannot compare the driving dynamics nor the interior fit and finish. The Subaru is an economy car on soggy suspension. The Porsche has a high-end interior and vastly better driving dynamics/driver engagement. Subaru also has the anti-enthusiast transmission otherwise known as a CVT. The Macan uses the sublime PDK dual-clutch gearbox. It’s direct, it’s lightning quick, zero “slush” feeling. My wife and I have a Subaru currently. We’re in the market for a Macan. Twice the price to get the Macan S with the options we want, but worth every penny. For someone who cares about *driving*, the Subaru is just sucks the life out of what should be a great road. No comparison.
chris ina that means you are not the target market for this car, you have to compare this to the sq5, glc 43 and bmw x4 m, not a subaru which is half the price, half the performance and half the prestige, reliability might be better with the subaru to be fair.
Test drove, was not impressed. Hard seats, the controls are way too clumsy. Nav system is not user friendly at all. Way too many buttons to push just to get to a screen you want? Harsh ride.
Deem M ShawJ. If you have driven and including the Ford transit like jerky Velar you will know the Macan is awesome. I always had porsche sports cars then went with a new Porsche Macan S Diesel Turbo. Outstanding. I just can't say enough good things about it. Put it this way I told the dealer to put me on waiting list for all new Macan in 2020. Not a facelift but all new ground up Macan in 2020. I'm bored with 911, Cayman GTS and boxster now esp the quiet new ones. The Macan is exceptional.
