I thought the opening 30 minutes or so of this movie were amazing. It's a shame it couldn't quite maintain that tone throughout.
You don't dig the practical road warrior chase at the end? I watch it over and over!
Opening is similar to the first resident evil movies unit going into the hive and getting massacred. That movie also gets a lot less exciting after that occurs cause there’s only so many cast members left to die to the zombies and you know at that point it has to be a slow burn.
I get really annoyed when movies kill off everyone early cause it comes off as lazy.
Rhona Mitra was so fine
💯🔥
Especially in Hollow Man
Rhona Mitra .... Kate Bekinsale from Wish.. but the item you receive actually looks like the item in the selling page
I saw this movie in the theaters. Loved how over the top the violence was.
This movie is madness in the best possible way!
Agreed. It's so wild and hits every apocalypse genre. Lol
Its not mad max but its def one of the better post apoclpyse movies. Kind of like book of ELI. Has some serious flaws but its so damn fun you can overlook. I love the use of stunt work over cgi.
For anyone interested, Scream Factory just opened up pre-orders for Doomsday in 4K!
Not the uncut version though.
This and children of men were great and fun surprise watches in theater.
You watched Doomsday in the theater?! That’s rad!!
Saw Doomsday in theaters when it came out. The one scene that stuck with me to this day; (from the movie) was that poor bastard getting burned alive and eaten.
Why that scene didn’t turn me vegetarian baffles me.
Sadly, I dont remember a single scene from this movie
I just remember it being trash.
Dog Soldiers is 10x better.
So was Decent
I like this film because it's fun.
I really like this movie. But no one else from my friends and family does 😀
You missed out the Warriors . Unless i misread the gang on the bus chase scene. IE the Turnbull AC chase. Also "Maybe" a litte Knghtriders from Romero. And bit of Resident Evil. It was a fun Action "Homage"
Ha, beat me to it re The Warriors
I really like this movie; I really love the visual distinction between the different factions almost feeling like they changed movies half way. It's not wildly original for sure however, it is memorable, and I recommend it whenever I can.
I just watched this last night 😂. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet .
Ah, the two schools of Hollywood: One that strives to make old stuff original without giving away it's influences, and the other that wallows in fanfiction and cosplay while gleefully ignoring the obvious rip-offs and gratuitous plagiarism. Not sure which category this is.
Doomsday was dope as f**k. Love it.
I haven't thought of this movie since 2008, but the moment I saw the thumbnail, I immediately thought of the Bentley crashing through the bus!
This movie was stupid fun. They touched in a several genres of apocalypse and I loved it.
When they played Good Thing by Fine Young Cannibals, I was like " Ok Rob Marshall, I see you"
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
28 Years later... If they had just named it that I would have believed it was an official sequel.
28 Years Later is actually coming out. I am surprised they didn’t go with months so they could still do years but it has been a long time since they made one of the movies so there’s no telling if the new generation will want to see it if they haven’t watched the older movies.
I need to revisit this soon
I actually kinda agree with critics on this one, mentioned choppy editing detracts from movie experience hugely. Watched it years ago, but can't really recall it, probably the worst that could happen to a movie - it's not bad, it's not good, it's just forgettable (at least for me, obviously, experiences may vary). BTW, while watching this video, I've found some similatiries between Doomsday and another, let's call it unsuccessful, movie that's also pretty close to horror genre - Mutant Chronicles, with great Thomas Jane in the lead, and an excellent cast of other characters. I think it could be interesting to see a take on Mutant Chronicles from JoBlo.
I enjoy this one and will rewatch it every year or two. LOVE the as I call it "Post Apocalypse David Letterman show"
Whenever I see the name Sean Pertwee on a cast list I know it's going to be a blast as he's going to give it one heck of a death scene & this one doesn't disappoint.
Truly underrated and one of my Favorite non-Mad Max apocalyptic movies!! Rona Mitra is Hot!!😍😍
This movie has a lot of influences all over it.. goes from being a outbreak setup, to a Zombie like flick (but that are actually crazed Cannibal Cult Punks) to fighting Medieval Knights, to Mad Max highway chases, and all with discount Underworld’s Kate Beckinsale… I don’t know really what this movie is but wild.
While no classic, this was an incredibly crazy but fun popcorn movie. Lots of fun.
Thank heavens Marshall never got to direct Drive
One would think this would be Adam Walton’s bread and butter
Kickass movie, despite what the critics may think.
To me, Rhona Mitra's "Major Sinclair" had a striking resemblance to "Major Kusanagi" from the Ghost in the Shell animation, in both look and demeanor. 🎭
The plot and characters hit a lot of notes in the UK. So many unusual and colloquial references to enjoy.
I assumed that this was the unofficial Escape from New York remake.
Could be. So could Lockdown (Lockout?) with Guy Pierce.
These people are cannibals because of the whole wasteland situation, right? What’s literally the first thing we see once our heroes crash into the wasteland zone? COWS! So why are they eating people?
This is one of the only movies I walked out of at the theater. I was exhausted fro. No sleep and work and probably should not have gone that night, but I was really excited about it because I loved his prior films. I don't recall much about it, but i recall falling asleep multiple times. I cant blame it on the movie. I have never revisited it, but I need to.
Rhona Mitra... is a icon under the female action stars❤❤❤
Thousand percent agreed!!
I love it as a guilty watch, oh the cannibal leader is the writer in the tent from Dog Soldiers.
You should check out Marshalls film Centurion, its excellent.
Best use of Adam Ant in a movie.
How does the descent haunt him, I'm confused
Dude this is such a fun flick almost every time I have lent a copy out I never got it back.
Love the Decent 1 and 2 - IMO 1's better though. 😅
Not a great movie but I remember enjoying it a few times. Rhona Mitra is under appreciated as an action heroine.
9:21 just one look at these "professional reviewers" I can tell that they aren't going to like this film. When I imagine stuffy Ivy League professors that's who I imagine
It has Kate B. in it, this could’ve been a silent movie and still been great 😌
Overlooked film, love the gritty feel and Rhona Mitra is a beast! Watching her battle the cannibals was rad🔥✊ too bad it bombed 😑
I love the band Casa Bien.
I was a huge Marshall fan after his first two movies, but I really didn't care for this on first watch. I may have to reexamine at some point.
It's definitely a combination of those two movies
This was a fun movie, a great popcorn flick to numb the mind and just enjoy the time. Over the top and fun... what else can you ask for!
Saw it once. It was not my cup of tea. Not that the directing or acting or production was bad. I just not a fan of a character being cooked and ripped into for the others to eat, that turned my stomach as I wasnt expecting that. Like I said, not my cup of tea. I was barely dipping into horror genre back then, and had no idea what I was getting into lol now that I am enjoying the horror genre I still dont think it is my cp of tea. I prefer the 80s slashers and suspence psy thriller types.
You missed Aliens and Gladiator but I don’t care I still love this insane film with awesome stunts! That car chase to Two Tribes is INSANE!!!! Love this film and I’m ok with that ☺️☺️
Black Death (2010) anyone seen it?
Is it similar to this? 🤔
"Annoyed Max" would have been a better title for this movie. 😝
Very underrated
I liked the first half.
*Adam Ant
Not a rip off but homage
CHECK out a movie called tooth and nail 2007
love this movie and while its mostly because Rhona Mitra is a Godess ,its a good movie id that id take over any of the mad max's
I liked this movie its just fun no overthinking
It's too bad, that Neil never managed to make something as great, as Dog Soldiers and The Descent, again.
Yet another director, with a promising start, that crashed and burned, when making Hollywood films...
At least he directed two of the best Game of Thrones episodes
@rorschach36
Have you ever seen "Centurion"??
It's no masterpiece, but it's alright.
I enjoyed it.
I really enjoyed this movie 😅
Better than Furiosa
I really wanted to like this movie and did not. Not even a little bit. Except when Mitra was there.
Kassa-bian 😂! It's ka-say-bian
This film was utter rubbish. But that guy Sol has the most hilarious death
Too bad it was messy.
There are only really 10 stories you can tell. And everything is a rip pff of that. So it can be a rip off as long as its original. Not like last man on earth: doomsday 😂
Casa Bien! 😂
England had to show off one of their only two hot women.
Funny that because most of America's hot women aren't actually American.
I was really disappointed by the film. It's a mess of a film. Sadly, it doesn't hold a candle to Neil Marshall's DOG SOLDIERS.
Doomsday was nowhere near as good as either you mentioned 😂 dog soldier however was bad ass along with descent
This movie was very not-good. The whole MalcolmMcDowell-middle-portion in which all the ppl where he lives have like completely reverted back to medieval times… -let’s just say: I wasn’t buyin it 🤷🏻♂️
This movie is unbelievably bad.
That eye camera was so cringe 🙄.
The acting was TRASH 🗑
This was a pretty good movie, and I think I still have a copy. Rhona Mitra, Lee-Anne Liebenberg and Craig Conway were fantastic. Rhona Mitra was so kickass in this I would be down for a sequel.
🗑
I actually almost watched this agin about 3 or 4 days ago because all i can remember, is it was trash.
"Almost". It's hard to bring myself to rewatch crap I didn't like the 1st time.
I watched Godzilla Minus One again, but this time dubbed so more better.
This movie is SO TRASH!!!!!!
