I use HDFC bank as one account... and Union bank of india as primary account. I totally agree with you that hdfc really has the best customer support compared with other prominent banks.
i had CITI bank , ( salary account) which is hands down the best in terms of experience and support .. switched to ICICI and they are simply brilliant as well .. I dont keep more than 3000 in the bank at any point , so interest rates dont matter for me..

Why haven't you taken other PSBs like PNB, Indian Bank or Canara Bank as that would have been a better balanced opinion. I have three accounts. One with PNB one with Indian Bank and third with HDFC. I find HDFC personnel very much customer unfriendly compared to other two. May be that's the problem with my branch. But it is a problem

Hdfc and ICICI along with SBI are said to be strong even in weaker economic conditions...it is stated by RBI. but no need to worry, many banks are ensured by DICGC i.e. your deposits within the range of 500000 are ensured even when banks goes bankrupt/default.

I am currently using ICICI as my salary account, and it's absolutely right that their mobile app is best among others, regarding thier services I withdrawn 5 lakh cash instantly by visiting my branch, create demand draft quickly while in SBI and other top 3 PSU bank it's too much hectic to avail such service due to so much rush. Plus SBI people deduct 147 rupees per year for debit card and also 15 rupees quarterly for SMS. And they don't send SMS for amount less than 5,000 debited. Thats so weird. We should be kept informed even a single amount is deducted from our account. But they don't send that message. So I switched from SBI to ICICI for my salary account and I am happy since last 7 years.

it's good, using them for 3 years. Customer support is good on my branch (Chennai - parry's corner). but still I'm here looking to move my money to bigger banks (SBI/HDFC/ICICI). Because interest rate are not attractive anymore in small banks for me. I'm switching to safety bigger banks then interest rates.
The customer service support is poor in SBI but maximum of zero balance accounts are with them. So there customer base is also huge. And to educate an uneducated customer is a big challenge for SBI. So there service is poor to other customers.
