    But meaning of investment especially long term is that we are not going to sell it, in emergencies we need to use emergency funds instead - mostly purpose should be to hold for more than 5 years - but also gold ke prices primary market pe badhne se secondary mei bhi badhta hai so - waha pe bhi koi saste mei nahi bechega unless he doesn't have an emergency( with no emergency fund)

    One info is not correct, you don't get back the principal,you get back the price of 1gm of gold at the prevailing rate when it is redeemed.Lets say you bought the gold at 5900 per GM and after 8years the price of gold is 7100 per GM.You will get 7100.

    It's very important to understand the context of an investment vehicle. Moment you invest in Gold through paper or dematerialised form, you defeat the very purpose of investment in this precious metal, no matter what form you choose. SGBs are crazy, good for those who wants to learn thier lessons a harder way.

  • @dhiransh
    @dhiransh 4 месяца назад

    Let's look at the points given one by one -
    Low liquidity so higher probability of losses - first thing from practical perspective is common man don't buy gold to do speculative trading or because they have to sell it. They buy it for their children marriage or for unforseen circumstances or just as an investment which they can do year on year. Informed investors buy it as an inflation hedge and it doesn't form more then 3-5% of their portfolio. But assuming a person has emergency common man will first go for gold loan rather then selling his gold. Same can be done with sgb where he can avail loan against his security and that too at lower cost as it doesn't involve physical storage. So liquidity problem of exchange is applicable only if you have purchased for speculative purpose. Also there are arbitrage funds and quant funds who are looking at inefficiencies in pricing of these bonds. So any huge pricing difference between bid and ask is taken away by those players quickly.
    Second - large numbers of bond issue or rbi issuing bonds every month - any smart person would rather welcome this thing rather then running away from it. Rbi issuing bonds during rising gold prices provide better opportunities for informed investors. For example bonds issued at 70000 gold level will have face value of roughly 7000. So if after 2 years gold prices decline to say 50000 current prices will move to 5000. You can do unit averaging over your gold bonds just like physical gold. But the added advantage is that you will still be getting 2.5% interest on initial 7000 face value. So you will be earning basically 3.5% on your investment as well as any capital appreciation that will happen. By no what the points served as drawbacks of sgb are it's drawback. Infact for savvy investor they are boon.

    Baba, thoda to mehnat karna padega. Smart buyer naye issue ka wait karne se jyada secondary market prefer kar rahe the till now. Because jo issues 5300 ke the wo 4700/5000 me mil rahe the unme 2.5% ka interest to 5300 ke hisab se tha. Yes now maybe it could be wiser when this difference will be minimal or imbalanced. And also, this is not emergency funds so long term invest karna hai to hi this makes sense every investor must be aware of it. Also, to minimise this there is way, u should go ahead with comparatively most liquid issue (till now it was SGBAUG28V) and u may need to shift ur capital in another issue as per the first point of the comment. It not worth buying this Gold bonds. Biggest drawback is we can't redeem physical gold bar after maturity from RBI. Only live rate getting worthless at maturity

    Like if we invest in SGB and redeem it after 5 years then we get profit (tax free) and tax on 2.5 % ? Please clear my doubt.

      Annual interest of2.5% is credited directly into your bank account at an interval of 6 months. However the interest paid is SIMPLE interest not COMPOUNDING .Which means if you have buyed gold bond worth rs.100000, rs 2500 will be credited into your bank account every year it will not increase.

    Not a good advice or information provided. Plenty flaws in understanding SGB in secondary market. Why would any one pay for making charges when comparing physical gold with Digital gold/EFT/SGB or Mutual Funds.

    What a waste of time! As a consumer, I plan on keeping my SGB bonds to its full maturity time (even extend it, if I may). Please prove my choice of investment via SGB, as wrong.... You claimed so many disadvantages at the beginning of the video, and yet came up with just 1 option, with no data backing up. What a waste of time....
