Team Gung Ho for sorting me out with the shoes and accessories, and New Balance for inviting me to the London Marathon
    \\details
Price - $150/£140 - currently, it’s $20 off in the US, which is an even better price!
Availability - It’s been available for a while in the US (there are reviews from August 2022), but it only recently became available in the UK (as far as I’m concerned)
    Weight - 11.9 oz/338g (men’s US 11/UK 10.5)
    Drop - 4 mm (heel: 34 mm / forefoot: 30 mm)
\\what’s the New Balance Fresh Foam X More v4?
New Balance Fresh Foam X More v4 is a max-cushioned daily trainer. It features even more Fresh Foam X… foam, but the shoes are not ‘illegally tall’ like the SuperComp Trainer. Despite the height, the Fresh Foam X only has a comparatively shallow 4 mm drop. The sole is shaped like a rocker, which helps move your forward at each step. There is a lot of foam underfoot!
The upper is tighter than the Fresh Foam X 1080v12. Data-driven outsole applies rubber in critical areas to improve traction and allows the rocker to work correctly. Most importantly, the New Balance Fresh Foam X More v4 is essentially a Hoka trainer, all the way down to the Swallowtail heel geometry. It’s a chunky trainer with plenty of foam and a tighter upper. It’s the best Hoka running shoes from New Balance!
    \\4 things I like
Super comfortable: there is so much cushioning going on, it really is like running on clouds. But not On running kind-of cushioning, but actual soft cushioning that caresses the feet as you run. I love using the shoes for running, and I caught myself choosing them over other trainers for walking in the last couple of weeks, too.
Rocker and foam provide a smooth transition: the rocker is incredibly pronounced and helps the transition from landing on your heels all the way to the toe-off. It’s similar to Hoka’s early-stage Meta-rocker and will benefit beginner runners the most. It’s also excellent for recovery runs as it helps you put the miles in auto-pilot mode.
Looks gorgeous: New Balance knows how to make shoes look sexy, and the Fresh Foam X More v4 does look good. It’s understated but instantly recognisable as a New Balance shoe. I like the pattern of the foam, the grooves and the soft upper, and it’s beautiful.
Reasonably affordably (especially in the US): The Fresh Foam X More v4 is on-par with other max-cushioned daily trainers on the market today from Hoka, Asics, Adidas etc. It’s not cheap, but I’d call the $150/£140 a mid-range shoe, and I’m okay with that.
    \\2 things I don’t
Somewhat rigid midsole: Experienced runners might not like the rocker’s ability to guide the foot in a set direction. The 1080v12’s midsole is more malleable. It has its benefits (such as the auto-pilot mode mentioned earlier), but this sensation might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Some might find it off-putting that it’s a Hoka shoe with a New Balance logo.

Hello, great video mate. Just wondering do you use the same shoe size for both the 1080v12 and more v4 ? Thanks.

Did you end up buying a pair? If you did, how was your sizing?

I have fairly wide feet with mild overpronation. Do you think the inherent stability of the shoe with a wider base be adequate? Will strictly use this as an everyday walking/standing shoe! Thank you!

Hi Eric, thanks for watching the video and for the question! I think the More v4 would work well for that purpose. The wider base provides some extra stability, but not quite as aggressively as dedicated stability shoes. I'm yet to hear someone saying anything terrible about the shoes, so I think it's a safe bet.
