the US Coast Guard is a mix of angels and hero's and doesn't get enough recognition
Thank God for the USCG!
Your 100% correct. These Brave men and women have "nerves of steel".
Agreed.
I am so glad that the13 year old girl was found safe god bless.
Absolutely agree. I was preparing myself for that story to have a sad ending. 2 nights in the Alaskan wilderness with jeans and a sweat shirt sounds like a good recipe for severe hypothermia.
SPOILER ALERT. GEEEZ
Yea, thanks. Is Darth Luke’s father? That will save some time
@@codygardner8625 why are u in the comments if you dont want spoilers
Can you imagine how great this girl felt when she realized how much personnel and resources just for her, along with her family and community! I don't see her leaving Alska anytime soon! I am a former Fire Chief and Paramedic and have worked along side USCG, SAR, US and Alska wildlife officials teams and the National Park Service! Sadly 2 of the searches did not end well like a small plane crash and someone who fell into a rapid waterfalls in the middle of the park. The plane crash incident had resources cost between all agencies was around 2 Million before we found the deceased and the crashedvaircraftit and with over 300 personnel over the time once notified and 5.4 Million with over 500 personnel to search for the foreign citizen visiting the Alska wilderness! It was so very sad to tell the family we couldn't find the individual alive and well with all victims! When we did have a good rescue it was most rewarding feeling! Even just one life is priceless!
Thank you for your courage and service!!
The Coast Guard, especially in Alaska, are amazing people.
"We call them Angels of the Sky. Because they are."
I would say they are.
U r exactly right
True
ALL ANGELS ARE IN THE SKY OTHERWISE THEYRE PEOPLE
Yes, YES THEY ARE ❤
Great job to search and rescue. They found her, warmed her and fed her. That young lady is a smart and strong.😊💕
Big thank you to the USCG, well done👍🏻
“Blueberry leaves...and a spider.” Gee she’s a badass hahaha
America's Heros. Angels of the sky!
Amazing men who were so kind and dedicated and nonjudgmental!
These guys are amazing! The work, expertise, teamwork, bizarre situations?? Just, wow! First responders aka Healthcare works who help and save lives.
I’ve learned a lot about The Coast Guard through these videos. Thank you for your service.
I watched another search and rescue called The Horn, Air Zermatt in Switzerland a few years back, and their commitment and skill is similar
OH MY GOD, The Horn, Air Zurmatt was INCREDIBLY great too, you’re so right!!!! I kept thinking about it the whole time watching this lol!!!!
Angels of the sky. I like that. They are.
13 years old, no survival skills and not familiar to the area and she decided to take a hike by herself. She's lucky she was found within a couple days because that would have been a far worse story if she'd been out there for much longer
Exactly plus the clothing she had one not good. However they said she was from the area so I was confused how she didn’t know the area.
@@jennifermarshall4780 Actually her aunt said that the girl was originally from Nevada and had only been living in the area for six months. She was probably still getting used to the area and simply got over-confident.
@bob builder Heard what she wanted? Don't be a pill; she just missed that one line in the conversation.
She also went through a creek for no clear reason, getting unnecessarily wet.
I don't understand how she was allowed to do so in the first place, she's 13 but the adults should have known better.
When we were mushroom picking and someone failed to show up by around dusk, we would sit on the road below the area (pickers typically head out uphill and come out downhill) and would blow our car horns to give the lost one a direction to travel.
good thinking ninty nine
Damn ! Good thinking !
"When I saw the coat guard's face I knew I was rescued 'cause the coast guard is always there for you" made me tear up a bit.
Love this!! Survival skills are one of the most important things to teach kids!! I went through survival training as a flight nurse in the Airforce… I LOVED IT!
Yah TEACH them not throw them in it idiot
That search dog is like "oh hell no. This looks worse than the damn vet!"
That is hilarious! LOL!
The helicopter was running and ready to take off so the moving blades and noise scared tje dog
@@tonybradford1719 Wow, thanks for clearing that up. It was a joke.
Dogs will do anything for kisses and cuddles. I was disappointed that this was titled that the dog helps find her when we only saw 30 seconds of the dog. haha
@@tonybradford1719 no they are trained around heli's they are used tk it.
Truly American heroes!! Two and four legged!
You guys are all beautiful souls!
Please at least give your kid a whistle and tell them to keep buildings in sight. If their like my oldest they might not listen to the second part but the whistle can really help.
Came looking for this comment. I was really worried at the beginning, thinking she had little to no survival skills and being new to the wilderness. Seems like she's a pretty smart kid who did well with very little. Hope she takes a basic course and never leaves without full pockets.
@@suestoons Compas, c ph, water, energy bars, water proof matches
@@Brucev7 plus Topo map, space blanket
@@suestoons Ok. have u ever been lost for few days?
@@Brucev7 Not really lost lost. When we were kids, my friend and I would take off to the woods for the weekend just for fun to test ourselves. We cheated in the winter and took snowshoes, sleeping bags and prepared food. In the summer months though we relied on fish we could catch. Well, that and chips and Pepsi! LOL
We wanted to prove to our Dads that we were just as able in the bush as the boys were so they'd take us on their fly-out fishing weekends sometimes.
I do know what it takes to live in the wilderness for a few days. Kidlet was not so outdoorsy but I made her and her Brownie troop learn the basics. Some of the Moms were concerned that Kidlet reported one Monday that her Mom let her play with matches. That was so she could learn how to build a fire LOL
incredible stories! Alaskans seem to be very hardy people - livin’ up there is not easy. those Coast Guys are terrific. i know how it feels to have strong, professional people come and help. been in 2 fires here in NYC, NY. Firepeople are THE best!!! Nurses and EMS people are wonderful, too. :) 🌷👨🏽🚒👩🏻🔬🦸♀️
These beautiful people are HEROES! EVERY ONE OF THEM ARE ANGELS ON Earth. GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!
the shallow water sailor is your friend always remember that.from a deep water sailor : )
Everyone knows the roughest seas are closest to shore
will do.
This is why I only wade in water. Plus, i'am also afraid of the water too. I'am so afraid that I have NEVER been on a boat before and i'am 61.
I was navy I used to call them puddle pirates and I looked down on them and the air force but as I watch these true heroes and patriots.
These folks go out in weather that would make Santa Claus stay home. Thank gods for the Coast Guard.
😆
I love people that care.
True hero's! I absolutely enjoyed this video! Very heartwarming!
Coast guard: Don't worry we'll find your loved ones. Are they familiar with the area?
Me: No, ones from NYC, the other 2 from Dallas and L.A.
Coast guard: I'm so sorry for your loss.
Now she's a girl dad should be very proud of. Awesome young lady to even think of what to do in her situation. Many would have come home in a body bag. God bless her. I've got a feeling she'll become a coast guard
Alaska appears beautiful. On my bucket list for years.
Yeah, my service dog would’ve been like, “NOPE! It’s a monster!” 😂. He’s my everything, super helpful. he still would go if my life depended on it. I could de-sensitize him to it. But knowing he’s not the only working dog who’s wary (SAR guy had to pick him up and carry him in) is reassuring!
Not only in Alaska, but any rural area, If you go into the woods, bring a couple orange smoke candles and a orange hand flare. Depending on the area, bring a revolver also. If you're old enough to go out you're old enough to use all three.
You did hear them say she had no outdoor survival skill training. She lived with jeans and a hoodie and rubber boots. That says it all
@@jennifermarshall4780 Thanks, Jennifer, for your reply. She was a fortunate girl. It does not take long for hypothermia to set in, causing reduced ability to care for yourself as well as poor decision making ability. I live alone, so I bring all three even when I'm just in in the back field. If , for example, the tractor rolls over, I could be in deep trouble really quickly.
Good Advice 👍
The ground crew that searched for that missing girl should've gotten the credit for finding her..all the credit went to the air and rescue team from the Coast Guards when they didn't even find her..all they did was pick her up once she was found. I'm not saying they did nothing cuz the job they do is amazing and they helped look for her but at least give some credit to the people who actually found her which never happened. That's all I'm saying!
Don't forget about the dog too.
When have facts every mattered to tv
That’s an excellent program for the kids. 👍
Keep the ocean safe I work for the state of Texas cost guard
Outstanding job gentleman for finding this young girl you guys did an amazing job.
That precious dog helped too 💗
Angel's of the Sky , Yes !!

No one commenting on the guy walking casually in shorts with snow on ground?... Lol
I know when we were teens we'd do that but I outgrew it long ago! Brrr.
That would be my hotbox of a brother 😂
It's not a big deal. I lived 3 years up north, further north than this, and your body becomes climatized after the first winter.
Living in Alska and after living there and thinking 0*F degrees is warm means you live in a cold environment! Once back in the lower 48 my body re-adapted to warmer temperatures! Lol, it made me snicker and smile!
Love seeing Sitka again. Been to long since I’ve been home
The Gentleman at the end said thank you with the nicest comments 😇 In The Sky, God Bless
The U.S. Coast Guard was the first military service to use canines. They would take them on patrol boats throughout the So. Pacific and use them to find Japanese soldiers. The dogs would find the Japanese soldiers scent and hunt them down. They were trained to find their scent by using imprisoned Japanese Americans by getting the dogs used to their scents.
So cool, the work that you do, for people lives
May these incredible rescue 🛟 teams be BLESSED.
I love the coast guard n Law Enforcement..Thank u...u guys do an Amazing Service..God bless u all..
It surprises me that not every rescue flight that goes out, there isn't a Corpsman on board to push drugs and start IVs. I like that on the rescue flights. I love this series. The men and women are so well trained. The Coast Guard is definitely risking Their lives to rescue many. The rescue swimmer, flight Mechanic, 2 pilots are Heros!!
All rescue swimmers are certified EMS they can also start IVs..
@@jthrasher47 but there's different levels of EMS you have Basic Life Support and Advance Life support. Most BLS can't push higher level drugs.
@@BeezerMN no but every single one of them can push IVs, that's one of the very first things you learn as a medic in every single branch..
@@jthrasher47 correct. I was referring to the pushing higher level drugs portion of the message. Trust me I know. I was a 91 Bravo in the Army. Combat medic. Did my AIT in Ft Sam. :-)
@@BeezerMN well great awesome they are much needed and I always respected them. All that pressure especially in a combat zone.. 11b here. and yes you're right only some are trained enough to push the higher drugs but not your common medic.. I could be wrong but I believe PJs are.. most PJ's I dealt with were only on medevac
Of course Makayla was all right! They's a hardy bunch in Southeast. I bet this series does wonders for Coast Guard recruitment.
My family and I lived in Southeast for 20 years, and we have nothing but mad respect for the United States Coast Guard!
I'm happy the girl was happy and found and healthy and doing well 😊😊😊😊
My mom and her siblings got lost in the woods when they were really young and spent the night in the woods
How’s they find their way out? Or did someone find them?
I admire you guys, you have a different job by times.Probably every time because of where your located. Thanks for doing an awesome job
These Brave men and women are The Angel's of the skies with nerves of steel.
Get ear protection / mufflers for the dog
Yes God bless and protect each and everyone. Of them.
Even adults with hiking experience should never solo hike.. I’m so happy to hear the 13 year old was found safe because that story could have had a very tragic end
I love the Coast Guard
Coast guard rocks
I love the school program!
I wish we had that at the school where I teach!
Awesome teaching the kids
Angles Of The Sky , I
Love that y’all Rock
Our Alaskan coast guard are the best up here, simple!👍
Stay safe out there 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Excellent!!!
I'm proud of you all. Did a great job
Coast Guard Alaska you do a awesome job at saying lives 😅😅😅😅🎉
Go Costies!👋🏼
bluebery leaves and a SPIDER. i wouldve been found cause of howw loud i screamed if i saw a spider
She seemed most certainly on the spectrum. Makes sense when you're eating blueberry leaves and not the blueberries themselves, especially when it's in season which it quite seemed to be
Darlin' next time you go hiking take survival gear (tent, jacket, beanie, gloves, blanket, water, food, matches,) even though you might just be going for a short walk...and never go alone!!!! Dad what were you thinking letting her go alone, esecially when you were newcomers???? Thank goodness for the community minded people and the coast guard. Maybe 3 years on you are thinking of joining the coast guard yourself young lady!!! Have a great life..love from Western Australia ❤🦘🦘🦘🦘
@ 28: 10 .....life in the coast guard is like a box of chocolates! You never know what your going to get ! GREAT JOB GUYS!!!
Great job guys you've come as long way from when I was in the service
@ 12:11 i love how the father is eating a doughnut while his 13 year old daughter who was left is the wilderness for 2 days hasn't eaten a thing
I know 😂
Exactly! That made me mad! He has NO clue. Parents......
None of them seemed very bright..
Honestly she could have eaten off camera or not been hungry due to being sick/dehydrated.
Tyler Orbison was a 3rd grade teacher when I went there😂
If I was a better person, I should have done something as amazing as these people!
Its got got nothing to do with a being a better person. This is a hard job. Not everybody is fit for it. Its a very hard psychical demand kind of job. My mom works in hospice and she always has people ask her how she can do such a job. Its not for everybody you know? Some people can do it and some cant.
I'm sure your amazing in your own way. These guys have faults too! Only Human.
rescue swimmers have one of the coolest jobs
Jumping out of helicopters
repelling down onto land or ships
And saving people
As someone with epilepsy, it is scary hearing about someone having the first seizure in their lifetime. Being an adult when happens makes it unlikely it’s epilepsy. With that being the case and him just having one after another it’s worrying. It could be a head injury, some kind illness or tumor, maybe he does have epilepsy and this was just a first grandmahl and he unknowingly has been having absent seizures, no outcome is good.
dog is like.
Hey can you open the window, so I can stick my head out :D
Shout out to Sitka!
My high school hometown and family's home for many years.

Mykala did you really eat a spider? You are one brave girl! It must have been a big one to make it worth eating and I know that I would probably starve before I ate a spider because I am TERRIFIED of spiders lol
Love that Avalanche Info.
All the other branches make fun of em, but the branches poke fun at everyone, so any branch is important
The other branches are not rescue trained in this way. this branch is wonderful, love the Coast Guard. You should see the training they have to undergo for ocean rescue.
@@archaeologyteensyoungadult4477 uh all the branches fo through basic medic stuff, and then there are medics, though fun story not mine, a medic my fam knows was working for the marine, he got someone who tried to juggle knives
Hello. Check it out. He said "Americas heroes; Angels of the sky". Be safe out there people. Love to all
Hope she stays home from now on……a lot of work for these guys and the dog to search for her.
Gotta love the substandard happy music and cliff hangers, when in reality SAR is just cold hard workers and shit people couldn’t imagine witnessing. God bless Coast Guard and SAR though.
To see those old growth pines on that truck was depressing.
I don't know if the Scouts BSA program is in Alaska but it's a really good thing
Salmon & King crab Off . Menu ? That's why we risk lives . Getting Sea Food .
Heyyy puppy 😍😂
Ughhh...
I had Giardia in 7th grade and it was horrible!!! So glad this girl didn't get that, and she was found.
There should be a cheap material that is sold so people can take it out when hiking to use as markers of the way you took. It should also have benefits to nature if you’re not able to collect it all on your way back. Like a bright colored fluff that birds could use to build a nest or it’s biodegradable after a week to a month if left in the elements. As long as it’s dry it won’t break down or something.
I was taught to stack rocks, bend shrubbery, or make direction markers with sticks, pinecones, etc.
Peg yet that doesn’t stand out unless you place them where you don’t normally see them. Like a stick arrow on top of a rock. Stacked rocks do stand out more so I can see that. Added into the fact animals could accidentally mess up your marker.
3:36 "WTH is wrong with you humanoids? And why'd you drag me along with you? I thought we were going to work!!"
Take a shot everytime someone says "ya know".
Could barely focus on what they were saying.. all I heard was "ya know"...
I think you’re right, ya know?
Ooooo you’d hate me
With phones today we all should take pictures of people going on hikes to if to much time passes you can show first responders what the person or people look like. Always wear something that is brightly-colored
16:08 I'm dead bruh 😂😂
"What'd you eat out there Makayla?"
"Blueberry leaves and a spider."
"What? 😲😧😃"
I love this series but theres no way it's profitable with the low amount of views lol
Alex M. It was definitely more profitable for the weather channel when they produced it
It's called advertisement for the Coast Guard folks. Excellent recruitment tool
Trust me this RUclips channel is not making this kind of quality of video it cost millions to make these
The Weather Channel made this many Years back. This has probably been broadcasted a hundred times.
I actually just now came across it, I LOVE THIS STUFF! Waiting for my episodes of ALONE to start back up. Kuddos to these guys😱💪💪💪🙏❤
😊 the fisherman ok.
Yo crazy how all the people are wearing ear muffs to keep there ears safe from the sound of the helicopter but the dog doesn’t and dogs have way more sensitive ears
Agreed and get the pup some goggles as well and shoes.
I was thinking the same thing
Damn ads! RUclips is getting worse with them and when they start forcing me to watch full ads, I won't watch RUclips anymore. I do not even pay attention to what the ads is b/c they are ALL scams.
Good lesson: never hike alone!
wow wow and more wow
Get that poor dog ear pro! If humans are needing and using them obviously the dog needs too
That's it. I packed my backpack for Alaska like yesterday. Just thinking of how to get there now!
They put an inner osseus IV into the poor dude. Oh my God.
Nice rescue
Awesome
