I didn't know it was that easy for valve cover gaskets. I use to shy away from it and never thought about doing them. Guess I'll look to change mines this summer

This is the one part I am not looking forward to doing as I have the Automatic Climate Control system which I've been putting off for the last 4 years as mine is my daily. Someone took the blend door actuator out of mine, and trust me there's not much room to easily install new one. I plan on acquiring the entire HVAC system that I will go over, so when I go to do mine it'll just be a swap by then. Once I get my original removed I'll refurbish it, and then sell it.

Awesome video I have a 96 Grand Cherokee with the 5.2 as well. My Jeep has a leaking valve cover and it has factory steel gaskets. I had someone take them out,clean them and reuse them with silicone to seal them but the slow leak has persisted. Question; how come you dont use high heat silicone or something like that before seating the valve covers and gaskets?

NICE WORK, BG. I knew the LOGO'S were going to be a problem with some ? These were made actually for the 360 ? I believe but they will fit as youre's did with LOGO'S the way they are. Can't really see the 1 anyhow ? Nice touch though. I changed mine on my 97 4.0, degreased them, scuffed them up so THEY WOULD LOOK GOOD BLACK WITH GOLD FLAKE IN THEM, LMAO. I put the flat black on then sprayed some gold flake on to make them POP, inside the garage they be looking fine. Next day take them out in the sunlight, AW HELL NO, THEY LOOKED BROWN WITH GOLD METAL FLAKE IN THEM. Should have waited for the black TO DRY FIRST. I even did the T.B. at the same time, SAID THE HELL WITH IT PUT THEM ON. I HATE IT EVERTIME I OPEN THE HOOD BUT MAYBE 1 DAY I'LL BLACKEN THEM, I DOUBT IT THOUGH,LOL. Always GREAT INSTRUCTIONS BG. And the pcv inlet hose on (same side with pcv ) the side of the engine were it suppose to go is connected to a box on the underside of my battery holder? I just got this Jeep and the recent owner told me the previous owner did alot of Mickey mouse jobs so it was hard to know where everything goes to

Great videos, i have a 97 zj limited 5.2 it has a misfire on cyl.2 i check and. replaced the plug new and im getting spark from the plug wire still misfire.. How would i clean up the port could i have composites inside the engine on that cyl. ? Any insight is appreciated
It could be loss of spark, the air/fuel mixture is too far out of balance to ignite, or loss of compression. If its not incorectly gapped or fouled spark plugs Check for clogged fuel injectors. You can use a stethoscope to listen to that fuel injector and you should hear an audible click but if not that means its dead. It might be the exhaust valves or it could even be a blown head gasket. Your best bet is to check the live data using a decent scan tool
@@barricadegarage5361 thanks I'll be checking it over because i bought it a year ago with blown heads i bought a master gasket set with new head studs did it myself end i know i need new exhaust header bolts maybe worst case I'll get new head gaskets..sry im going on thank you for your advice

Theres plenty videos on here about the 4.0 but this is the first video showing the process on the 5.2 V8. If I ever do one on a 4.0 ill be sure to make a quick video about it though

Hey my passenger side cover is getting caught on the high pressure ac line and the line from the evaporator. Cant get it out yet. Also scared of breaking a line. Any tips?
Ive had those same valve covers for 3 years and havent put them on cuz i can't find grommets for them,, Where did you go to get your grommets i tried searching the part number you gave and can't find them, same with the new fasteners
No it doesnt matter. You can switch the covers around so the "Jeep" logo is facing the fenders which would probably look better but as long as they fit with the grommets in the right place im happy

Quick question. Why are the Jeep logos upsidedown? Did you just prefer to have the oil filler on the front and not have to lengthen the PCV hose?
Being more concerned about making a quality video I overlooked the fact that I installed the covers with the logo facing backwards

Use a pry bar and bend it back, it shouldnt break..

If you pull it out and shake it then it should make a rattle noise, if not then that means you should replace it
