Neil Diamond has a 50+ years singing, writing and acting career that was just cut short by his diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. Beautiful Noise is an autobiographical tribute play written about his life. Saw it last year in Boston….heading for Broadway next week. This man is Ahhhhmazing…how do you not know that? Have seen every Chicago concert…three hours of excellence…no opening acts…no intermission. He starred in the Jazz Singer…a movie following the start of his career. Every concert sold out. Go down that Neil Diamond rabbit hole…you won’t regret it!🔥❤️💎

I saw his concert in the mid 1970s and I've said ever since that was the best live performance I ever saw.

I worked for him for about 14 years. Did a few thousand shows. Great crowds around the world. Incredible numbers in ticket sales.

Sounds like an interesting job. I can believe the ticket sales must have been huge. I saw him every time he came to my city over 30 years he was that good.

I've been lucky enough to see him a few times and you described it accurately.
Every concert is full of energy . The vibe is so good and so much fun. So much so I would see him every time he came to my city and would still do so if he was still performing. He's given a lot of joy for so long

Neil Diamond was 71 at this particular concert. He was a most charismatic and spectacular performer who sold out huge arenas and stadiums around the world and broke attendance records wherever he performed. The black back-up singers, the Waters sisters, worked with a myriad of artists such as Michael Jackson (Thriller !), Adele, Whitney Houston and Donna Summer. The drummer used to play with Elvis Presley and the percussionist is one of the best ever. Neil Diamond's live band was spectacular and his concerts one hell of a party 🎉

By the way, that original Hot August Night performance from 1972 is ELECTRIC - the whole album, especially the intro - Prologue/Crunchy Granola Suite. Probably the best live album of all time. So many rock artists think they are great(and sometimes they are), then they hear that album. Even if you were not into Diamond's music it's a serious listen/lesson.

I grew up in the early 70's and my parents had a huge record collection, one of which was the double vinyl of the original 1972 Hot August Night live concert at the Greek Theatre that Neil is referring to here. Listened to it countless times I've memorised every track. This song was the concert opener and always gets the crowd going. Look at them. Three generations of people on their feet.
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Neil Diamond -- the quintessential live performer.

Hell Yeah. "Good Lord!" has been shouted at many a drunken get together over the decades since this song was released. It ain't a party 'til you've played this and 'Sweet Caroline'

Sadly I think he had to quit performing a couple years ago due to declining health reasons but I was fortunate enough to see him in Omaha, NE in the summer of 2013. Incredible show that the whole auditorium was on their feet for 2+ hours. And happy to have seen him before my own health started draining my stamina. Thanks for doing this awesome fun song.
You guys are so much fun to watch

A pale overdone version of the original song done forty years before. Way too much orchestra compared to the stripped down version from the 70s. Neil says the one regret he has is not recording the video version of perhaps the best live concert ever done by anyone. Even the recorded audio version of that song is way better than this later version.
