I'm a huge Duda fan. He always had these games in which he puts up an amazing fight on the big stage against someone nobody would have expected him to. Be it Moregardh in Singapore Smash, Jang Woojin in the World Team Championship, the very close loss against Boll in his last European Championship win (at which Boll dominated players like Ovtcharov and Kallberg), etc.

Duda found keeping the ball as short as possible works against Lebrun. Takes skill and nerves to do that because if the ball pops even a little, he is dead meat. Lebrun advantage is in the longer balls. He has such an economical stroke, little to no backswing, and an unerring eye for meeting the ball. With the short balls, that advantage is gone, as Duda will rip anything that pops into the corners or Lebrun's crossover point. Great job!

Brilliant comeback. Duda did a great job of exploiting what I consider to be Felix' one big weakness; his defensive pushes, which he executes with a firm wrist, they always pop up off the table and allow his opponents to attack them (sometimes it's a serve return, sometimes in a rally). It's not difficult to execute a proper backspin chop with the penholder grip, you just have to temporarily loosen the wrist a little but he rarely does this - I noticed him do it once in the whole match. I think if Felix could improve this area of his game he'd be very difficult to beat for anyone in the world.

@@jackhamilton7906 Let's be more specific: in a year you play in a certain number of competitions. The ranking points system works like this: Every competition you participate in replace the old one, from the last year, which in our case, is the 2023 European Championship. So, if the last year He has performed better than the quarters, He'll drop some points. Every competition works like this: you should have the same results as the last year, or better to move up (depending of your higher rated opponents, of course).

@@thomasp3262 Well, I don't know him and also don't really care, and it felt like he lost against the exact opponents he shouldn't have lost against. So it looked like he was a bit arrogant, which is totally fine, especially for someone at his age. But again, I don't really know much about him, so it could also be pressure.

@@bridgitbertrand5523 Did I question any of that? Even the nicest people can be arrogant in their young days. When you're young, it's normal to be a bit arrogant, especially if you're good at something. And you should definitely have at least a degree of arrogance if you want to be the best. But it shouldn't stand in the way of his sports career.

If Felix can't beat Duda, he wouldn't be able to beat Timo Boll at his prime since they have slightly similar style with slow spinny topspins that Felix has failed to counter and Timo almost beat Felix in their last encounter when he's almost retired then.

Bad example for younger players losing and throwing their racket to the ground. Then the youngest will think that's right. At that level you should learn to control your emotions. In addition to teaching him tactics and techniques in table tennis, they should teach him how to manage his emotions. It is a lack of respect for the sport and for each athlete such attitudes. If he is so professional, he should apologize publicly.
