AMV - Ghost in the Shell (1995) - "Inner Universe"

  • I used footage from Ghost in the Shell (1995) and the opening theme to Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2002). It's a mix of old and "new" that I really enjoy.
The song I used is "Inner Universe" by Yoko Kanno & Origa.
Rest in peace Origa... The music you made changed my life for the better.

into the action sequences by taking the animation team to Guam and actually renting all

Жаль Оригу, но, по крайней мере, она добилась славы и ушла, можно сказать, на пике. Для девочки из Сибири она добилась почти невозможного. Как минимум фанаты аниме Ольгу долго ещё будут помнить.

    Strength to keep moving forward.
Thank you for this AMV. This is a beautiful bridge between SAC and the original 1995 film.

Thanks. I'm not a fan of the 3DCG opening either. It must've looked incredible when the show was first aired though.

I didn't think about that, you're probably right, since everything else aged so well I forget it's age sometimes. Early 3DCG didn't age well, yet 2D has been almost timeless, like the first film still looks fantastic, especially on Blu-ray

It looked absolutely mind blowing for its time. It was pretty much unheard of to spend the money on a fully 3DCGI OP like that.

Excellently made video! It really recaps the most classic and badass moments of Major. It's my opinion, but honestly, the movie (gits 1.0) has a classic vibe to itself, when compared to anime or other movie. To me, the shots taken from this movie sets a perfect tone to the song, even when compared to gits sac. The song vibes what Motoko feels during the whole movie, I can literally feel it from this video. Great work!

  • @Plslevmelone

Fuuuck, it's too early for this much feels. This movie was there for my golden age, being a teen in 97 when this made it to the small towns was literally the best period of my life. They don't make them like this anymore. You can see the hours of grinding for 2 seconds of film. You can feel that in the work and digital stuff is kinda lifeless because it's so easy to pump out. If I was a rich man I would be getting the artists that still know how it's done and give them a budget and total freedom. Imagine what they would make.

So I watched stand alone complex first then this movie. I think overall I loved the anime series more just for the stories and characters, but I cannot deny the original is a classic through and through. The animation is beautiful and so well thought out and crafted. Especially that water scene, such beauty crafted with no words. SAC adds flesh and depth to the characters, but sometimes it feels a little bit weird how they always sexualise Motoko which is something the original did not. I’m also glad the original questioned the day in day out nature of her job, while in SAC it feels like she doesn’t give much thought to it. Point is, both are really good and have their strengths and weaknesses.
