This video brought a tear to my eyes. My grandmother had one of these back in her day. She would go out with her girls with this, kissed grandpa in this car and it was a time of her life. I showed this video to her a few months back. Her expression was priceless. Unfortunately, she passed away this year. She always wanted to require a car like this and we had plans to go car hunting.
Love that color. No car companies have the balls to go bonkers on their colors anymore. Chrysler has that plumb-crazy challenger, but... It's Chrysler.
Thanks so much for doing this 1957 T-Bird , This truly is a beautiful car, I wish I would have made it a priority to have made this car a mandatory purchase for me, instead I purchased new cars that cost more than one of these that was completely restored .
I remember when these cars were still daily drivers on our roads. They were cool then as they are now. I was just a small kid but new a future classic when I saw one.
My first 1957 T-Bird was a bronze model too!. The automatic was actually a 3 speed. It started out in 2nd gear unless you floored it or manually selected "L".
my grandfather has one and holy hell is it powerful man if you get one you will not be disappointed unless of course you hit a tree...or a person or both
I loved my 57 D code Thunderbird. Aesthetic wise the 57 is the most beautifully styled of all of the Thunderbirds produced. However they are way too small and cramped and not comfortable to ride in. I sold mine and nought a 63 Thunderbird Sport Roadster. It is a dream to drive and so comfortable to drive with. plenty of room.
There were 3 transmission. The Ford-O-Matic was actually a 3 speed. But under normal conditions it started in 2nd gear. You could start in 1st gear by either manually selecting "L" or by a WOT start. The Ford-O-Matic that came in the Falcons was truly a 2 speed only version. The other two options were the 3 speed manual as mentioned and the 3 speed manual with electric overdrive. I have owned 3 1956 and 3 1957 T-birds in my life. One of each had the 3 speed overdrive transmission.
Andrew Dion I can understand that, but why bother to click the dislike button, instead of just clicking another video or clicking the back button. If the video was bad quality or something, then it made sense to dislike it, but Kyle makes such good videos.
Ford stylists in all of the divisions....Ford. Mercury and Lincoln...had the edge over GM and Chrysler .Greetings from Australia...Americans are lucky having access to these beautiful cars from the 50s. Les Griffiths
The 56 and 57 exhaust outlets were changed from the 55 because it was so complicated to bend the exhaust tips just right to exit the exhaust outlets in the bumper. If not done right they would rattle against the outlet.
I don't care how the car sounds and sucks gas, I love this particular color of the '57 T-Bird. Unique. The later version is also great (02-07), without the '50's paints. Eventually, I'll get one or the other.
Wire wheels were NEVER an option on a Thunderbird until the 1962 Sports Roadster. Yet today many 1955-57 T-Birds have them installed aftermarket. So many in fact, that many people think it is original. The 1955-56 did have an optional wire wheel cover, but no true wire wheel.
nice, I love how old american feels at the wheel. I drive my 68 firebird every single day, tons of mods so it handles a lot better and stops a lot better, I've even towed stuff thousands of miles with it. this 57 ford is beautiful, I wouldn't change it, its not a performance car, i'd just drive it everywhere ;-)
I noticed most of your videos are in Charlette, NC you must live there, and if so, how awesome is that to have so many awesome dealers in the area! Great vids btw, even when I look up a car I want to check out in video, I see you reviewed it, I'm clicking that, even if it is 30 minutes long lol
The rear deck on these look as good as the hood. A nice balance of lines. Something you cant do on a new car - not enough canvas for the artist. ( too small )
BTW in 1957 the 292 only came with the 3 speed manual transmission. The 245 HP 312 came with either the automatic or the O/D transmission. The 2-4bbl and Supercharged engines could have any of the 3 transmissions installed.
Love the slightly tractor-like sound of old engines. Can someone explain why the sound is like that on many old cars, what factors contribute it the most? Is it possible to replicate with modern engines?
i delete all videos so i could see this video am impressed by the option power seats and power windows its to bad that Thunderbird is past. 9 52 pm go to bed
btw I'm in FT Bragg, anytime you feel, you are welcome to come by and do a test drive on my 68 firebird, restomods called "pro-touring" cars are extemely popular and people love them ;-)
Saabkyle04 correct me if I'm wrong, but those are not transverse leaf springs, they are longitudinal leaf springs. Transverse would mean that the are parallel to the rear axle just like a Corvettes rear suspension. In the T-Bird they're perpendicular to the rear axle.
Thanks! I do have a GTO video, it's an older video so pardon the voiceover quality, but here you go! 1966 Pontiac GTO 389 Tri-Power 4-spd Convertible Start Up, Exhaust, and In Depth Review
I see this Thunderbird and I instantly think of Lois Minger who worked for Ford an decided herself to keep all the invoices that Ford was going to destroy. They called her the Pink Lady because she drove a Dusk Rose 1957 Ford Thunderbird.
Chevy lovers only dislike this video! Awesome color, not correct tires, but nice looking anyway, the steering wheel needs to be restored though. One of the best looking cars EVER made, undoubtedly. They are all worth big $ now and climbing, always been a fan.
Some facts should be corrected here. Optional Automatic is a 3spd not a 2spd. "non-functional" hood scoop and side vents are actually: side vents = fresh air for your feet, hood scoop is open to the engine bay and there is a gasket at the front of the air cleaner to block hot air from the radiator so the scoop still does act as cold air for the intake. Otherwise surprised by the amount of rust visible in the shots under that car and the runs in the paint.
I live in the eastern Europe, in Poland. And my only dream is to move out to States. You probably get my point. UK is rainy, isn't it. I'd like to move to the sunny place with great cars and women XD
This video brought a tear to my eyes. My grandmother had one of these back in her day. She would go out with her girls with this, kissed grandpa in this car and it was a time of her life. Love that color. No car companies have the balls to go bonkers on their colors anymore. Chrysler has that plumb-crazy challenger, but... It's Chrysler.
Not to mention plumb-crazy is a color originally from the seventies so it isn’t new though its a neat color it does play the nostalgia card
Wow what a beautiful car. I sure wish I could go back in time to the 40s and 50s, and experience the cars, the music, and culture of that time.
My family still has our 1957 T-bird, never selling it lol
Thanks so much for doing this 1957 T-Bird , This truly is a beautiful car, I wish I would have made it a priority to have made this car a mandatory purchase for me, instead I purchased new cars that cost more than one of these that was completely restored .

new=knew
This, kids, is what at real car sounds like...
CEOkiller I like the car designs but the noise makes the car just sound dilapidated
AgarTron better than waking up the neighborhood in that trashy lambo or other various sports cars
Great car,one of the most beautifull ever built.
Cool piece of history right there.
Yea it is, been a long time since I have seen one of these
First gen Thunderbirds are just the best Fords ever.
Yes they were beautiful, the 58/60 were a let down but, I also like Cigar Birds 61/63.. The E Type Jaguar is also four wheeled art..
is true legend in automotive history!
I have a model car of this beauty sitting in my room right now, and I'm using a rig in an animation. I'm glad I found this video.
Me too!!! Lol ...same color too!!
That is the prettiest colour of a car I’ve ever seen.
STUNNING from A to Z! 👏👏👏👐👐👊💙
Such a perfect car!
My preferred exterior color for the '57 T-Bird. Iridescence changes with the seasons. Here, in autumn sunset, it looks bronze.
this is what real cars look like. the most attractive car ive ever seen. im in love (swoon). i think it was my grandmothers favorite car.
My first 1957 T-Bird was a bronze model too!. The automatic was actually a 3 speed. It started out in 2nd gear unless you floored it or manually selected "L".
My dream car is a 55 Thunderbird. Your video on it was great information!
Glad you enjoyed it bud!
***** hey can you do the 2014 altima ans maxima
my grandfather has one and holy hell is it powerful man if you get one you will not be disappointed unless of course you hit a tree...or a person or both
Joe D just go buy a town car from the 90s, they drive the same
I loved my 57 D code Thunderbird.
Love that color. Cadillac had a similar color in 1960. They called it "primrose".
Dusty-rose (slight grey overtone)

The Thunderbird was a historic timepiece of the automotive world, and I liked them too!
Wow I love this classic car reviews. You're awesome Kyle!
i really like how Kyle reads comments and actually replies to them unlike other youtubers who rarely reply.Just wanted to think you about that :)
I try my best :)
And even some of the other RUclipsrs that do will respond to every comment with the exact same reply.
Seriously why would anyone dislike this video?
Apparently they don't appreciate a good ol Classic. This is when ford motor co was awesome
Andrew Dion I can understand that, but why bother to click the dislike button, instead of just clicking another video or clicking the back button.
If the video was bad quality or something, then it made sense to dislike it, but Kyle makes such good videos.

My dad had one brand new for his honeymoon, sold it in 61 for a used 57 Chevy, still got it over a decade after he died.
Beautiful automobile!
OMG what a beauty!!

The rear deck on these look as good as the hood. A nice balance of lines. Something you cant do on a new car - not enough canvas for the artist. ( too small )

One of my favorite cars

Saw a green one traveling down the highway in my 57 Chevy and it felt like I was driving in the 50s ha ha.
1957 Ford Thunderbird Start Up Sound

57 is the last year for the first generation Thunderbird
This was uploaded the same day I got my GT500 :)
When American cars were the best
Review the Audi S5! What a beast!
Saabkyle04 correct me if I'm wrong, but those are not transverse leaf springs, they are longitudinal leaf springs. Transverse would mean that the are parallel to the rear axle just like a Corvettes rear suspension. In the T-Bird they're perpendicular to the rear axle.
You're right, that was my mistake, thank for pointing that out.
No prob.
Awesome video😀😀😀😀😀can you do the 2007 or 208 Chevy equinox
Excellent review on a old Thunderbird. Can you do a in depth review of a Pontiac GTO?
Thanks! I do have a GTO video, it's an older video so pardon the voiceover quality, but here you go! 1966 Pontiac GTO 389 Tri-Power 4-spd Convertible Start Up, Exhaust, and In Depth Review

***** what about a Duesberg as well ?
This car is better equipped than many modern cars 😢😮😅
A '57 T-bird has just been sold for 450000 $ at auction.
Yes, a lot of money.
I see this Thunderbird and I instantly think of Lois Minger who worked for Ford an decided herself to keep all the invoices that Ford was going to destroy. They called her the Pink Lady because she drove a Dusk Rose 1957 Ford Thunderbird.
beautiful
Can Ford create another FORD THUNDERBIRD out of the 1950's????? I would buy one in a heart beat!!!!!

It didn't work lol, thanks!
Could you possibly do an in depth review of the 2012 Chrysler 300s?
They need to fix the tachometer
The vogue tires look great on this car. Even though they are not period correct. Actually vogue tires look great on any car.
Beautiful car. :)
The next video you should do is a bugatti veyron
Chevy lovers only dislike this video! Awesome color, not correct tires, but nice looking anyway, the steering wheel needs to be restored though. One of the best looking cars EVER made, undoubtedly. They are all worth big $ now and climbing, always been a fan.
I'm a Chevy guy, and I love these t birds, I don't get the whole competition thing Chevy and Ford fans get. I appreciate both

Some facts should be corrected here. Optional Automatic is a 3spd not a 2spd.
