The trail is not technical at all, and the bumps come from small rocks. As long as you ride with loose arms I think the gravel bike is the way to go! P.s some gravel bikes have suspension

They're a road bike for gravel roads instead of tarmac. With that being said this guy likes the challenge of riding his gravel bike on these trails, which is a different discipline than riding the right bike for the trail. I can see the appeal. If you get bored of riding a bike with suspension and want something more difficult.
This is a great example of the evolution of suspension. Back in the old days, you had solid axle cars, then solid axle leaf sprung cars and then shock absorbers and coil springs. If you watch all 3 of these types of suspension systems work,over various on and off road testing, you'll see quite quickly the advantage of suspension. Ive been wanting a gravel bike for a little while, but when I see things like this I think, man a hard tail with a lockout on the front would give you the strongest versatility on and off road... Killer video though man!
Love the versatility. Commuting on the weekdays with more capacity for fun shortcuts. The tactile nature of riding mountain bike trails on a rigid bike. The capacity to tour on it. I personally love technical climbs on them. As for descents you do have to sit on the brakes more and spend more on pads and rotors.

The speed you climb single track on these bikes is next level....the decents are sketchy. For this trail a hardtail with 100 mm travel up front would be ideal....still looks like good times.

Gravel bike will not only require fat tires, but also AWD system, AWD stands for all-wheel-drive, and AWD bikes can travel onto any platform such as sand, mud, or even probably snow, in an AWD bike, you can also climb easily through the hills.
After watching this I'm looking forward to my new full suspension xc mountain bike! With it I can ride anywhere and I am prepared for every trail! Not so with a Gravel bike!

Gravel bike owner here… I use my gravel bike for commuting since my city has fucked up roads and dirt patches on the bike lanes with light gravel. Plus, for stability and comfort. Yeah it could handle mountain bike trails, but realistically, it sucks riding on actual rocks and stuff, feels like your bike is going to fall apart. Just get a mtb for all that. Makes your gravel bike last longer too.

I've mountain biked, but only at my family's farm where there's less of a risk of falling off the mountain, it's enclosed with trees and bushes, you're more likely to get hit and scratched by those than fall off some mountain.

They must have a different idea of "efficient". Sitting at the campsite later on listening to them complain about their wrists and back just proves my point.

xc bike can do all that and more, plus have a few mm of suspension so you're hands aren't killing you from that tactile ridged feeling.
