    It’s interesting how with quantum mechanics we’ve discovered that it could theoretically be possible to change any metal into gold since all materials are made of the same atoms. Maybe these alchemists deserve more credit than they get. It’s a shame that so much of what they did, and the ancient knowledge they may have had, have been lost to history.

      Yes, i remember the same thing you said happen in Nuclear stuff, radioactivity.
      Perhaps they already know it is possible to do, however with their current technology, energy usage, tools, etc.
      The best they can do to achieve changing material is boiling, combining or burning them, which is not enough, since they at least need to be able to touch atom first before touching quark and the likes.

      It is absolutely possible in theory to turn lead into gold, or anything into anything else, in modern science. As you said, the fundamental bits are common between all elements. However, the energy and entropy requirements to make it happen are so large you'd spend more money making it happen than you would gain from the change.
      And by "spend more money," I mean that the total amount of money spent would be so large, the total market value of the original lead and the market value of the resulting gold would be a small rounding error on the insane fortune you just dropped trying to make it happen.

    The thing is that alchemy combines both elemnts of proto-science AND philosophy, which many people forget about because they tend to label it from a chemistry point of view.

    • @guidedmeditation2396
      @guidedmeditation2396 Год назад +8

      The funny thing is bickering over names and labels is like the current preferred pronoun trend. At the end of the day all the pronoun people are men, women, human. No matter what label were slapped on them. Alchemists were mystics. Those who wannabe alchemists and didn't even know what the true prize was are what many now call full metal alchemists.

      Anyone who believes that Alchemy is about any physical outcomes has completely misunderstood the whole point of this "science", as has been mentioned below.
      It is a spiritual path, and no wonder that the Church tried to outlaw it.
      If you want to understand a bit what Alchemy ACTUALLY is about, go look up Max Derrat's channel.

    When it comes to the Alkahest, it works on things that are alchemically alive. I;m not sure if glass is considered dead or just inert, but it is safe to assume that glass would be seen this way because it isn't natural. If glass were to be made via nature, kind of like when lightning hits sand, it would be a different story. Info from Jean Dubuis' Spagyrics Course - Philosophers of Nature.

    Not that I necessarily believe in Alchemy, but I do wonder what modern science can accomplish with the idea of alchemy. I mean we use chemical compounds to protect metals from fire, so why not try using chemistry to improve existing materials. Unless there’s already a science doing that and I’m totally lost, if there is I’d like to learn more about it.

    Alchemical Healing is Pure Magic! It does exist. If it is applied the right way. It will return one to their very core. We are Energy and when you awaken that energy. Beautiful things start to happen.

      People notice. I know what alchemists are. I personally disagree with the methodology. Occult science involves dealing with supernatural forces. Those forces generally share knowledge at a cost to the recipient. The cost is too great for me personally. Madness and a loss of humanity has been the fate of many alchemists. It would be wise to avoid a similar fate. Is the pursuit of knowledge worth the cost of your soul? This is a valid question to ask when dealing with alchemy.
