    The last few years have definitely forced us all to think outside the box. Your video exemplifies this precisely. Keep up the good work.

    Nice video with some good info on your workflows. The external output glitch is a bug in vMix. At least on our multiple systems, you don't have to reboot Windows and vMix, you just turn on external output, it doesn't work, turn it off, then turn it on again and it should work, or at least ours do on multiple systems. It's annoying, but not that big of a deal once you know the secret. Some kind of handshake issue.

    Why add the third output? You can use key and fill channels for both full screen playout and animated lower thirds. Just don’t forget to turn on the audio in your external output settings. That way you can keep your key live throughout the show letting you focus on camera.
    I however put the vMix computer as input for the ATEM where I’m not using it to stream. My webpresenter and/or atem mini do that

      Hi Petra, yes absolutely and I have done that however if I am not running short of outputs I usually like to just keep GFX and video separate and on different switcher keys just to avoid confusing myself :-). I must admit I am getting tempted by the monitoring screens on the new Webpresenters and there is still some space in the rack.

    The problem is with Vmix. Brilliant program, but has trouble descovering inputs pluged in after boot up

      I've been suffering this same issue using the usb-c connection from the ATEM mini into a pc (much smaller scale system). After the last updates, I simply can't get the input to start reliably... although I can see the ATEM output if I use the windows (11) camera app. In there everything is running just fine.

    Great video, very helpful and informative for a wee project I am working on. I am currently looking at putting an atem in a lecture theatre teaching desk, with all the camera inputs there. If I wanted to send my key and fill from vmix (in another building), I would have to convert them over the network.. have you ever done this? How would you keep sync? I guess I would just use one of the many IPoverAV solutions, and convert back to sdi at the atem end but my main concern is sync.

    • @apntv
      @apntv  Год назад

      That is not something I have done, is the other building on the same network? If so you might be able to send over NDI. SRT would have too much latency. The only other thing I can think of is connecting to vMix in the lecture room remotely over the network, it may still be too laggy so you would have to experiment.

      @@apntv Thanks for the advice. I can't run vmix in the LT as there is no room for a separate production pc. Taking some advice from your video on resilience, I might plan to get all cams over ndi(probably hx due to network constraints) and do everything on the remote production machine, but have the atem in the LT with camera feeds going SDI and then output the pgm and multimix over ndi as a backup? This also means as a bonus I can push the camera switching into the lecture capture system which is local to the room and also feed usb to the pc for teams/zoom calls. Seems to be so many ways to skin the cat, and without much experience it's going to be very much suck it and see!

    How were the live captions achieved, what website or software was used for that?
    Thanks in advance

      Just using the built in titlers in vMix for those. Outputting Key/Fill outputs into the ATEM.

    How did you enable the blinking red "NOT RECORDING" on vMIx?

      I am not near a machine at the moment but there is a menu settings option for Alerts, there are currently 3 that you can select.

    I'm interested in the playing remotely bit. Is there a click track that everyone is playing to? I would have to see that in action. Can it be done with software only? Or do you need hardware switchers on each side of the link?

    • @apntv
      @apntv  Год назад

      It was a complex setup and I wasn’t directly involved in the design of that part however you can find more info about the project at uk5g.org/discover/5G-projects/testbeds-and-trials/5g-festival/

    can you please tell me which intercom you are using ?

    • @apntv
      @apntv  Год назад

      I have a Catford Tecpro intercom system, a base station in the PPU rack with belt packs, linked in series with XLR cables and 5 pin headsets. It works very well, especially in loud music gigs. You can pick these up for good prices used on eBay.

    Open your computer, connect usb to decklink card and hard update the card to same fw as your desktop video version and your restart issue should be a non issue. It this does not work you have something that Reserve lanes before the decklink card loads, maybe you have a mobo with lanes via chipset on mobo, this also give the restart issue :-)
    Good luck :-)

      I was going to comment, this also looks likely like a Windows feature/issue depending on how you look at it. Under Power Options > Advanced Power Options > Fast Boot, make sure that Fast boot is turned off. Most Windows installs these days when "shut down" is actually more in a S2 or deep sleep state. Restart on Windows does a full actual shut down and boot, hence might be the reason for the behavior of the Decklink not outputting or behaving as expected post a shut down/boot vs a restart.

      @@marcuspee93 thanks, I’ll. check that. The HP machines do seem to have some kind of quick startup mode.

      get atem mini extreme ISO and 8 cameras with clean hdmi feed... also a 4tb externel usb ssd... you will have live mixing ability per camera angles as well as individual camera angles recorded in the ssd.. it can be pulled off but you need sht ton of money for all that and if you are asking it here, probably you dont have it
