  • A roundup of my 5 favorite products -- plus honorable mentions -- for my afro-textured hair, that are available in brick and mortar stores, and that all cost (around) $5. You can do a complete wash day routine (cleanse, detangle, deep condition and moisturize/style) with the products in this list, so I hope it's helpful for those of you who are on a budget, or who just don't like to spend a lot on hair products.

    Thank you for listing these alternatives! There's a lot of black-owned hair care lines that are popular but EXPENSIVE beyond reason imo. Like $20+ (not including shipping) for 4-6oz is criminal. I know business is business but DAMN, help a sista out😳😳😳

    • @jusgie
      @jusgie 7 лет назад +19

      OntheReady hey try out naturallycurly.com they have a 23% off sale right now plus free shipping for orders over $25. Sign up for their newsletter so you can get updates. Same thing for the other black owned brands you want to try. Just wait for a good black Friday sale

    • @RicherThanRubies
      @RicherThanRubies 7 лет назад +19

      OntheReady - Maybe the black owned businesses you find are small so do not benefit from the economies of scale that other commercial brands do. I wouldn't say that they are "expensive beyond reason."

      OntheReady Preach it sista. Recently saw the RUclipsr IamTraeh with a video where she bought a Miss Jessies hair product for $40!!!!!! RIDICULOUS! That product better have assure me a seat in heaven.

    I use that Crème of Nature Moisture and Shine shampoo too. It's a decent go to that lathers well without taking out much. Yep, I'm used to paying $4.99 for it. I got the traderjoes' tea tree tingle shampoo and condish for hubby's beard... he likes them too :) Great list!

    That TJs conditioner is the truth!!! Leaves my hair feeling so soft and moisturized. The creme of nature shampoo makes my hair feel stripped and matted. My scalp hates coconut oil...I get cystic acne from it, so painful. I'm definitely going to look for the cholesterol and the gel this week. Makeup looks gorgeous!!

    We ALL used Lekair Cholesterol back in the day :-). I stopped using it when I learned about ingredients and switched to Lustrasilk. However, it's been years since I used either and the Lustrasilk is definitely hard to find now. I lurve me some Trader Joe's!!! I like the tea tree tingle shampoo for clarifying and the conditioner for Everything conditioning. I haven't tried the Giovanni 50:50 shampoo, but the 50:50 conditioner is great for my hair. Loved this list of products.

    Trader Joe's also makes a fantastic wash-out conditioner called Spa Conditioner that I swear by, never go without it. The slip is outrageous. After my shampoo, I apply As I Am co-wash followed by the Trade Joe's Spa conditioner, rake them together through my hair and rinse well. Frankly, I love the feel of that slip so much, I could probably be there all day raking it through! LOL! And, yes, I love that Bentonite clay as a hair mask. Go to a vitamin store like GNC to get that clay cheap. Great for the skin, too. This was a great video. Thanks for it! I should subscribe!

      Beautydivine I use it and I promise you it keeps my 4c hair soft alllll day. I use it in place of a leave-in while my hair is damp. It definitely does not behave like a gel, it doesn't dry hard or anything like that. Think more along the lines of a "jerri curl" type gel instead of an ecostyler type gel.

  • @LearningFromYoutubeToo

    First let me say, it was you calling the Hawaiian Silky Gel Activator one of your bottom bitches of hair care (LMAO!!), that had me click subscribe from the get-go. Secondly, since that video and up to this one, I have not been able to find the 4lbs container you have. I swear none of the local or online beauty supply stores near me will allow me to be great. Please...oh great guru...lol...what store have you been able to purchase this from? I beg of you. Please and Thank you. Peace and no hair grease!

      I live in Los Angeles, and I don't quite recall where I got it (I've been on this same jar since that first video where I showed it!). I *think* it may have been the BSS on the southwest corner of Pico and La Brea, though, if you're here in LA. I'm really not certain, though. Good luck!
