That advert for me is still unforgivable and I have looked towards other black owned brands myself but I do get it. moods Shea Moisture's commercial incident was just the cherry on top of many issues. The products were being reformulated without out notification and no longer effective. Even when I want to back slide and buy a bottle of my old fav shampoo (coconut hibiscus) I'm reminded of the last time I used it, my hair ended up matted and dry... called customer service about the reformulation which they confirmed, I emailed them after the commercial incident about reformulating and they denied/ said alot of marketing word play bs. The company simply does not respect it's customer's any more.

I live in the UK - when they started selling it over here I knew the formula had changed because I had previously shipped SM products from the US so I knew what to expect. I know a lot of people make the argument that we as black people are quick to disown black owned brands for mere slights but I don’t think that’s what happened with SM. It was a continuous slap in the face and like you said, the commercial was the final straw for me. It’s still a shame as that manuka honey and mafura oil deep conditioner is still the best deep conditioner I’ve ever used.

Truth be told I’ve been done with shea moisture since they initially commercialized i really loved their original products I would buy at North Dekalb mall
Boycotting SM was never a option for me. I was natural for awhile before I found them and the souffle was the 1st thing that moisturized my hair without being greasy. People say the formula change for my hair haven't noticed if it did. If anything, I was trying to get all the products people were claiming to be throwing out but nobody hit me back.

Lynne Morrison have you tried jojoba oil? Argan oil? Sucks that you’re allergic to all those nutty oils! :( Are you also allergic to avocado oil? Bc that’s what my other suggestion would be.
I agree with +moods on trying avocado oil. Olive and avocado oils are known to penetrate the hair shaft, just not as well as coconut. Since coconut doesn't work for you, I think those are great options.
Has anyone bought from hairveda recently? I ordered in Black Friday and I have no received my product. I tried to call the company. Email them and Facebook message them without a reply. Does it just take months before you get anything from them?

All I know is that the product looks different all of a sudden. Storage shouldn't affect the look. Storage could possibly alter the formula tho'.
