    This is the most realistic RV review I've ever seen! Not all brand-new clean, done by pro RUclips channels who review every model (paid by the dealer or manufacturer) but by real people actually show the RV they own and travel in, complete with dirt, spaces used, real comments, and the cutest dogs... thank you so much for this!

    I LOVE this RV! I saw the 2020 524D first and absolutely fell in Love! What got me was the Murphy bed and the large bathroom! I've wanted to do this, but felt I couldn't because of the tiny baths, Claustrophobia! I'm So glad Winnebago did these, Kudos! Thanks for various info tips like the command strips, mirror for the bathroom door, storage caddies, storage audubons for the Murphy bed, cute light strips, etc. Thanks for showing me that I CAN DO THIS! ❤️🌷❤️

    This was a real life walk through... Warts and all! Rather than being shown empty closets and drawers you guys gave a real world view of what can be stored in those spaces. Nothing fancy... Nothing staged... After watching God knows how many videos yours was so incredibly practical! I didn't have to imagine what could be crammed into those spaces, you actually showed it and by doing that this unit to me is much 'bigger' than those dealer presentations! I am so glad you didn't make your video look like a commercial. If someone wants to live the RV life this is what it looks like!!! Well done!!! You got yourself a new subscriber!

      @@NewstateNomads 24V - wanted to use the bed without deploying the slideout as we often boondock in neighborhoods and want to be "stealth" about it. Looking forward to seeing more videos from you. With all that gear stowed, are you above the GVWR weight, and if so did that affect the handling despite the upgraded sway bar?

    • @NewstateNomads
      @NewstateNomads  3 года назад

      Makes sense! We are able to convert the dinette or use the overcab bed, but it's not like using our primary Murphy bed. We've managed to stay under the OCCC by watching our water weight, but the V floorplan is lighter than us (doesn't have the end to end slide) so you'll have even more available carrying capacity. The upgraded sway bar and shocks really do make a difference, though be aware you'll need a different sway bar model than ours for the newer chassis: www.amazon.com/dp/B07YNPHR5W/?tag=newstatenomad-20

    Cool seeing the rig lived in.
    I don't usually like a Murphy bed but that was an easy setup.
    I love the double sinks, however I do like a more traditional stove and oven.
    The bathroom is nice, although I usually entertain not having to deal with black water.
    Also, I have been leary of having an extension in case trouble comes and you must go quickly. Same kinda fear of ladder going to roof.
    I guess the majority of rvers aren't troubled about such things.
    I have never traveled or lived in one. I am a single senior female that has only watched and dreamed.

    Howard and Katelyn, we have been binge watching your channel to give us an idea of the 'van life' that you shared. We have been talking recently of purchasing a van (not a Winnebago, just a Sprinter) to travel around North America for now, and eventually perhaps to Europe and Africa, so your videos are great to make us excited of our future, as well as great tips and tricks of what to expect.
    Your home is amazing, and so cool that there are only three keys to open up pretty much everything in the vehicle. Love the non-wet bathroom and how tall the ceiling is - some luxury that we won't be having on our own Sprinter. Love the Murphy Bed style, too.

    I think the view/navion is one of the best floorplan motorhomes around. One of it's biggest weakness is carrying capacity, it is very easy to overload these beyond legal limits just on a weekend outing, let alone full-timing. This isn't the only RV out there that has this problem since RV's are rarely weighed at scales. It's an unknown to the owners as well as the government agencies that police such a thing just how bad the problem is. In practicality, this will not be a problem when there is an accident at that point if the fact comes out that the RV is overweight your insurance could become null and void. Being overweight can also make it emergency manoeuvres more daunting and create a situation where an accident will happen.
    One of its best features of this RV is that it is short and so easy to drive. It can fit into many places that larger motorhomes struggle to make clearances. I do realize that we have to make the most of what we have and things are not always optimal but towing behind a class c defeats the purpose of the class. It just makes more sense to use a proper tow vehicle and a towable. No worries about weight and domestic vehicles are much easier to find a mechanic to work on it and get service/parts than a Mercedes product. Part supply has improved on the sprinter chassis but MB dealerships are probably 20% in numbers to a domestic. So if and when it does break down the tow may be very long and the wait may be more than days to get service. Upside at least your accommodation will be free while waiting. Everything is a compromise with RV this is just one of the sprinter chassis. Still would no prevent me from buying one as a single unit as they are just so well designed.

    • @NewstateNomads
      @NewstateNomads  4 года назад

      Lots of great points, thanks so much for watching! Regarding Sprinter service, you can also get repairs done at Freightliner commercial repair shops (which is one of the commercial divisions of Mercedes-Benz) and there are a lot more of those than Mercedes dealerships that support Sprinters. A great tip someone shared with me a while back! -Howard

    Would the tank heaters keep everything running through living full time in the winter in Michigan?

    • @NewstateNomads
      @NewstateNomads  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching, Hayden, and great question! We've been in snowy and "cold" weather, but not sure it matches what you may be experiencing! I will say the Navion has all water lines and freshwater tank inside, the Truma water heater has a special mode to keep warm water flowing through the pipes, and the tank heaters will definitely help below freezing. You may want to check out what mods some other View/Navion owners have done for sustained cold weather in the FB owners group (link in the description). Some people definitely stay for months to go skiing in their Navions, so I would say it is certainly possible! 👍 -Howard

    I'm curious to know what you do for doing laundry? I've seen small washer/dryers, but I would imagine finding a laundromat is what most RV'ers do.

    • @NewstateNomads
      @NewstateNomads  4 года назад +4

      Thanks for watching, Paula, and great question! Many campgrounds have coin laundry machines (Louisiana's state parks have FREE laundry). Down here in Mexico, it's home to the inexpensive "fluff and fold" services where you just drop off (or they pick up) your laundry, they wash, dry and fold before returning it. Haven't really needed to look into the smaller onboard washer/dryers in almost two years of full-time!

      @@NewstateNomads I lived in Utah during the late 70's, early 80's, until a job opportunity for my husband in the beginnings of IT brought us to Dallas, TX, so I really miss the mountains, and going back would be high on my list. My parents were road warriors even while growing up in southern California. Of course, with 5 kids, camping was cheap entertainment. They bought a small tear-drop trailer (for them to sleep in), and a station wagon (for me to sleep in, 4 brothers slept outside) to tour most of the western U.S. I've seen some amazing, and breathtaking landscape, and would love to see some of those sights again. Glacier Nat. Park, and Yellowstone are on the "visit again" list, as is northern AZ, Colorado, and Wyoming. My biggest reason for wanting a motorhome would be to just get out of town, and breath. There's some wonderful places in north TX to escape to. Thanks for the reply.

      Laundry machines are very expensive in CA. If you have access to water once a week, you should buy a small washer for RVs. Its a manual business, but does the job. Easy to store in a Class C. Some come with a dryer side by side or get your spin dryer at www.laundryalternative.com. Then hang outside to dry on a small folding rack. Laundry is a key function and easily done if you have the equipment. The spin dryer also comes handy with hand washables. To find the washer, check RUclips.

    I want to know how is the insulation and can you do anything 30- degrees in a winter ?

    • @NewstateNomads
      @NewstateNomads  4 года назад +11

      Thanks for watching, and great question! All the water piping is contained within the coach, so no issues there. Same with the freshwater tank. There are tank heaters for the grey and black to help lower the temp before the respective contents freeze. The Truma instant hot water system has a special mode to keep circulating warm water through its tankless system and coach, which really helps you get down into almost the teens without issue. The insulation is overall very solid on this coach, but as with many RVs, a weakness tends to be what air can pass around the rubber gaskets at the bottom of the slide. If it really getting cold where we are camping, we will roll up towels to fill in the space under the slide to help cut the draft down drastically. We don't do this, but some people also drape a blanket across the front of the coach to separate the drivers compartment from the rest of the living space to help insulate further. Hope that helps! -Howard

      Wow Kim, thank you so much for the compliments! We hope you continue on the journey with us, lots of full-time adventures to come! The electrical tape would be a great idea, but we need to read the display when baking/microwaving. Need a better looking flap than a taped receipt! 😂👍 -Howard

    Very entertaining and informative. I see alot of Navions on the local roads and always thought the look sharp. You two did a very good job on the video.

    Hey! This video and one of a 27 footer you looked at just came up randomly! We are still looking for a Winnebago 31B. 😃 Love the cabinet style on your Navion.

      @@hikerhobby1204 Downsize from a 2015 Phaeton 40 ft. Love to drive and we can go anywhere with this coach. My wife and I main thing was to have a decent bathroom and counter space and this 24D give us all that and more, like the storage under the sofa plus the dinette is a good size. Love the ease of the Murphy bed, pretty cool. We had no issue at all with this coach, the PDI from the dealer was the best we've ever had (this is our 6th MH) and we would do it again even if it was far from where we live.
      I would highly recommended this Winnebago view and the dealer (Lichtsinn RV)
