No you don't have to. If you're in 'protect' mode, you only have to heal when you're below 1000 and he's not going to fire the Master Emerald Blast. His firebeam is never taking over 1000 hp or his rockets. Healing is super effective. You can heal over 3700 hp in one go. Healing too soon would be a waste of a turn when you can do a mighty attack instead.

this episode is the hardest and all but isnt it quite fucking ironic how tails' robot has 4.8 k hp (correct me if im wrong k thx) yet doctor robotnik/eggman's giant ass robot has 22 k? tails' robot is like a small ant compared to it yet it has 1/5 th of that giant robot's hp (and keep in mind that giant robot is powered by the master emerald but tails' robot dosent have any gem inside her robot) consistency pls
Well, keep in mind that big robot takes reduced damage as long as its Master Emerald is not revealed. If Eggman never revealed it, he'd steamroll Tails, cause Eggman's effective HP with armor on is 44k (He takes around doubled damage when ME is exposed.) Also, what's funnier is that Tails' robot has more HP than frickin' Nights, Super Sonic in Episode 8 and Hyper Sonic in Episode 10 (at least in the beginning.)
