When the blacksmith in the show talks about a war between the “sorcerers known as jedi” and the mandalorians, they’re referring to the mandalorian wars during the old republic, right? Wouldn’t that make parts of the old republic canon?
Search for "Star Wars Rebels, origins of the Darksaber" - its already considered canon that there were many wars between the Jedi and Mandalorians during the Old Republic, Kanan says as much in Rebels. The main events in Mandalore history are these battles against the Jedi, the siege of mandalore by the republic/empire at the time of RotS, the mandalorian revolution a year before ANH (seen in Rebels), and the great purge of mandalore sometime during the Original Trilogy.
Missed opportunity for the First Order to make dangerous super soldiers. I didn't get that impression either. I think the purge was made by the separatists under Dooku. After all you see a flashback of a super battle droid killing the mandalorian parents. Also this so call purged might be a trowback to the Maul events in Mandalore and its aftermath, where both the republic and the separatists battled there.
@@knightheaven8992 I feel that it's most likely 2 different events since the clone wars scene is when Mando became a Foundling when the Mandalorians saved him. Plus the beskar is stamped with the Imperial logo, so I feel that it ties in with rebels as the Aftermath or prelude of Bo katans rebellion.
At the tail end of the Clone Wars, the Mandalorians had descended into open civil war, due to the actions of Darth Maul. The Mandalorians were never able to settle this dispute and form a new government, as the Empire swooped in and subjugated them all before the conflict could be resolved. This left the Mandalorians fractured and disorganized. Time would pass with many Mandalorians groups just retreating in to their own clans and keeping their heads down, while others would side with the Empire and create the Imperial Supercommandos. At one point, in Star Wars Rebels, the rebels needed to secure a secret route to travel, which happened to pass through Mandalorian space. There was a brief conflict, wherein the Mandalorian group leader was captured and held hostage, so the Rebels could pass through the region unaccosted. The Imperial Supercommandos found out about this, and launched a punitive raid against this clan, prompting the leader to fully throw in with the Rebels. Later on the Rebels would recover the Dark Saber. Given it's history the Rebels believed Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian-in-exile, could use it to draw the support of the other Mandalorian clans. Over the course of restoring her ties to her clan and entering into conflict with the Supercommandos, she started drawing support. This culminated in a Mandalorian attempt to rescue her father from the Empire, wherein the Empire revealed a secret weapon. This being a weapon that specifically targeted Mandalorian armor, many Mandalorian were outraged by this obvious attempt to wipe away their culture. With even the Supercommandos expressing doubts now, the Rebels successfully destroyed the weapon. Galvanized and united by the Empire's actions, the clans begin to unite behind Sabine Wren, but she elects to pass on the Dark Saber and the leadership to Bo-Katan. From there it can be presumed that the Mandalorians entered into a full rebellion. Being that the rest of the galaxy was relatively well under control, the Empire was likely able to crush the Mandalorians, leading to the Great Purge...Likely between the end of Star Wars Rebels and a New Hope.
I'm kinda disappointed that they spent all this time hyping up a mandalorian rebellion and Bo-Katan, only for them to go back and say "oh wait, nvm they're actually all dead, cuz we purged them to make a story for our new show". It's like when they hyped up the survival of the Geonosian species (once again in Star Wars Rebels) only for them to go back and say "oh wait that queen egg was actually sterilized". Like WTF Disney?! Stop giving us false hope all the time!

Hey bud, another great video. Could we get a video on details of lightsaber length and power settings. This is news to me and I always thought it should exist so I'm glad it does!
So there's a lot from legends. There was a particular type of lightsaber as well called dual phase where you would have two separate crystals inside a single bladed hilt. At the press of a button you could immediate swap the cystals and it would change length and width for a big surprise. In Legends Vader had one. Kyle Katarn had one and made it out of a speeder bike handle, his switch was a clutch lever.
Christopher Reid dooku also had one in his lightsaber, and he could’ve killed anakin with it if he tried, but it seemed like Sidious/palpatine had him under the impression that they were trying to turn him together in that encounter, meaning dooku knew that palpatine was his master. SWT made a great detailed video about this, I think it’s called “How Dooku Could Have Beat Anakin”.
@@bread-guy001 agreed. I feel like the best duel we could have ever seen would have been dooku vs windu. Solely in swordsmanship that would be the best of the best I think

I love how we know all these movies / shows are fake but we still live like if it was real. Same with DBZ i feel like goku is my role model and all the worlds are real
I'm glad you went over this, I had to deep dive into it about 6 months ago in order to supplement a piece I wanted to write. Mandalore and Mandalorians are among the coolest warrior cultures in the star wars galaxy. I dont know if you already have a video out, or are working on one. But hope you go more into the history of the Mandalorians themselves, they have a habit of being manipulated by the sith, their clans are quite intriguing, with a Fett even normalizing their uniform at one point in time. At one point they were at odds with the natural inhabitants of Coruscant, and their traveling and nomadic culture before settling on Mandalore is really cool as well.
This back story kinda makes me look at the mandalorian in a new light. Essentially classic starwars story with compelling characters and plot with genuine depth. At the same time its stripped down aesthetic and tense atmosphere is reminiscent of classic Eastwood films. Basically pure entertainment perfection.
I just realized that the Mando blasters in rebels are based on the original concept blaster for Boba. Look at 4:45, the barrel is pretty much a square Skywalker lightsaber, and a toy one was used for the blaster concept
1:25 A small correction, as "amplify" was a severe understatement. The Empire's main problem was that this strange element was a garbage ore except under the mandalorian methods. Thus the Empire didn't produce "sub-standard" beskar devices, they produced a piece of metal that essentially crumbled under use. Immensely valuable, and utterly worthless in Palpatine's hands.
I hate how the mandalorian show, shows the “forging” process for beskar. It would be cool if they actually did it right. Instead they do the same bull shit every movie or show does and they cast it. Casting is way weaker than forging. It makes the metal super hard but because that it’s real brittle.
Charles Adams either way it’s still brittle. Casting is far inferior to forging when making armor or weapons. A good example would be the First American made AK-47’s, the c39 and ras-47 both had cast trunnions and they were cracking under pressure, till customers started calling them out and telling them to switch to forged trunnions and since then they have had no problems with that specific part. Still shit rifles, but better than it was to begin with!

i wonder if anyone has a beskar plated space ship, how cool would that be you'd be almost unstoppable. no weapons or space debris would affect your ship, and it would be light and fast
Love the videos! Keep them up!
@@PeterReid1993 awesome reply. Thank you for the info!! Very cool
Nikolaus Swancott Yep. That would be an insane battle. Here’s the video by the way: ruclips.net/video/8UH_4RMaCQA/видео.html .
Great. Answered loads of my questions, thank you!

What about the fact they are bringing back clone wars for a season?
Thrawn in Rebels tho
CharmyGreenTheBest wait really
Yh... Apart from Rogue One, Rebels, and Season 7 of TCW coming back... plus Solo wasnt that bad either and the Sequels arent exactly terrible if u treat them as alt-universe.
Another great video!!!
It's like Mandalorian vibranium!
Vibranium is 10x better
@Danny Walters Jr. But it's definitely better
Pretty much
More like adamantium. Beskar doesn't absorb vibrations. It is probably vibranium in a cultural sense, but not in exact uses.
I think he means it’s Mandalorian plot device for why they can do what they do in any situation
Happy Thanksgiving!
Enjoy your time with family, brotha!
Love the video 😎
Just broke into George's house and get that script and make a fan film out of it.
I have spoken.
Rohit koli That is the way
Excellent breakdown and analysis!!!
“Mandalorian”
“Pacifist”
Select one
Check mate, Disney.
Waka waka waka
Wasn't Disney yet *shrug*
That wasn’t Disney, and it made perfect sense for the Mandalorians being Pacifist during the Republic Era
S M
How dare you insult the mandalorians by calling those fools by their name they are imposters true mandalorians live for war
Humanity deserves its place in the Universe, if only for creating such a perfect lore as Star Wars have.
So Beskar Iron is basically Valerian Steel in GOT and Damascus Steel in real life
Happy Thanksgiving my man. Great video and best show since the movie rogue one.
Dude, the video is called the great purge and there's less than 20 seconds of the video dedicated to it.
He pads all his videos with useless garbage to hit 10 minute mark for ads
Thanks for the video, very timely. So exciting to see Star Wars peaking again
Well we got the true update today.
Great viseo and happy thanksgiving
When you realize beskar is literally just Star Wars mithril
Except not extremely light
Star Wars' version of mithril would be Phrik.
@@Samuraiedge2 never heard of it
@@sullivandmitry1416 literally says in the video that it's extremely light
@@FrostyFrodo Phrik is lighter than Beskar and tanky enough to shrug off the destruction of Alderaan.
I knew that the mandalorians helmet was predator technology.
Man this video was awesome!
There’s actually a mandalorian jedi James bardan jusik from legends who became a mandalorian during the clone wars.
Why is there a little picture beside your name
Slammed N’ Cammed Because I’m a join member
I just realized that the Mando blasters in rebels are based on the original concept blaster for Boba. Look at 4:45, the barrel is pretty much a square Skywalker lightsaber, and a toy one was used for the blaster concept
If you are reading this, I hope you have a freakin fantastic Thanksgiving
1:25 A small correction, as "amplify" was a severe understatement. The Empire's main problem was that this strange element was a garbage ore except under the mandalorian methods. Thus the Empire didn't produce "sub-standard" beskar devices, they produced a piece of metal that essentially crumbled under use. Immensely valuable, and utterly worthless in Palpatine's hands.
Anyone else back here after EP 5 of the book of Mando?
Beskar is life. This is the way.

what if a light saber was made out of the mandalorian metal.
The dark saber is made out of beaker as far as I know
Happy Thanksgiving Thor.
May the force be with you today and ALWAYS
I hate how the mandalorian show, shows the “forging” process for beskar. It would be cool if they actually did it right. Instead they do the same bull shit every movie or show does and they cast it. Casting is way weaker than forging. It makes the metal super hard but because that it’s real brittle.
Really?
Gotta get that heat treat right
Charles Adams either way it’s still brittle.
@@devinmounce1838 This is all presuming that Beskar reacts to casting the same way that other metals do.
