I wouldn't like to say who came up with the idea first, but Onan had, and still have I believe, their "Patented VacuFlo" air cooling system which uses the flywheel fan to draw the cool air over the engine, and then ducts it away to the outside world. It's a clever idea because it means you only need to have one airtight duct, on the outlet, or perhaps I should say 'discharge' side of the system. It means that any air leakage between covers and panels on the engine adds to, rather than subtracts from, the air flowing over the engine itself. Onan used this system to good effect on their RV series generators, where the generator is housed inside an airtight and acoustically sealed cabinet. I have an "RV-2" generator from around 1963, and even then "VacuFlo" was considered old and well established.
Yeah, I've seen those generators before! Very neat design! I do believe that engines like the Delco light plants and these predated Onan by quite a bit though... although I could be wrong! Thanks for Watching!
Lost track of how happy you are with the Lauson. Craig DeShong has a write up on the VA on Smokestack. I have not gone to Coolspring as yet, but do make Jacktown. Hope you will be there with this one at the fall show.
Hahaha! Yeah I've read his post before! Very knowledgeable guy! You gotta make it to Coolspring at some point! It's amazing! I've been to Jacktown once! Problem is it hasnt really worked out schedule wise since I started college, but hopefully I can get back there some time in the next couple years! Thanks for Watching!
Thanks! I think you may have seen it 2 summer shows ago because I had it there, but maybe you didn't swing by, I can't remember! I'm going to try to swing down for the fall show, but I dont think I'm going to bring anything because I will likely be coming straight down from school. Hope to see ya there!
The phrase ‘a real humdinger’ was not a problem for the Carter Pump Company of Hackensack, New Jersey, as they ‘dubbed’ their small water pumping outfit as a ‘humdinger'.
Great starting and pumping display for sure !!!
Thanks Will!
That is a very cool engine! Pumps are pretty neat and make a great display at a show.
Thanks! Can't agree more there! Thanks for Watching!
That is a neat old rig there Colin! I remember when you first picked it up! Very nice! 👍
It sure is! Haha yeah that was cool to meet up there! Hopefully we can do it again sometime! Thanks for Watching!
@@colin_5839 Sure thing bud!

I have an antique water pump that I’ve had a hard time finding info on it’s called the Porto-Pump and it’s run by an old Wisconsin
Interesting! Maybe post it up on SmokStak and see if anyone there has any information on it!
Nice sounding engine. I haven’t seen that one yet are you going to the full show?
Thanks! I think you may have seen it 2 summer shows ago because I had it there, but maybe you didn't swing by, I can't remember! This is the type of pump that fire departments would have used to pull water from a river or pond to fill up the tanker.
Very interesting! I wonder if that's what this one was originally used for! Thanks for Watching!

Hahaha! Very True!
