So open (0) mean no fingers on rhe string just to pluck the sting. Example 0top row 3third row down 4fourth row down Pluck the top row then the third finger on the third row then the fourth finger on the fourth row. That's how I been playing.
The () is used for tied notes. It adds duration to the note you plucked so it can carry over the resonating note to another measure. You need to familiarize yourself with a little music notation, the different subdivisions of notes and read up on tied notes
