hello friends!! here is a fun video that took me a while to figure out but now i have a lot of mediocre-looking soap!! hope u guys are having a wonderful week! :) xoxo, saf
You KNOW when Safiya says “I did a little research” you’re about to get a wholeass background history complete with names, examples, and statistics lolll
Hello again! I am here for some more commentary from my mom (who is a soap maker) when Saf was first trying to mix everything “No honey that’s more than enough.... yeah.... don’t feel too bad. It takes about a few dozen or more attempts before you get trace right.” When she cut the first one “hey! That looks way better than mine did the first time! My first one looked like burnt lasagna”
I was so heartbroken when you had to quit and start over but I love your dedication to giving us quality content by trying your hardest to do it right!
Emmalyn because the soap does stuff to it so it isn’t dangerous. It’s really confusing you just have to pay really close attention to her explanations.
@Emmalyn - Safiya sort of answers that at the beginning by explaining how soap is made. Lye ON ITS OWN is dangerous, but when it's mixed with oils, it is (on a chemical level) changed into something that isn't dangerous through a process called Saponification. Chemistry is so fascinating ♡
Emmalyn Saponification turns the oil and lye into fatty acid salts (soap) and alcohol. So, by the end of the process, there is no more lye and no danger.
I've watched this so many times and I still cannot fathom how they couldn't tell just how much they were overmixing it. This is probably way harder than it looks so I'm not trying to drag Safiya, but man, that batter was VERY visibly thick, and then they kept blending anyway
The thing i love about safiya is that she gives us the whole process involved in making these videos from the research to the final product and doesn't say "to find out what happens next wait until the next week " . This fact about her videos makes me go through all of her longgg videos without skipping a second . I really love your content saf . Keep making these amazing videos. ❤❤❤❤
Yea, you can't just melt them and mix them together and have it look nice. Cold process soap doesn't work like that. It may be possible to rebatch them into one soap, but it's honestly not worth the time and effort, plus it wouldn't look good either. Itd be better to just buy all the lush fragrance dupes, mix them together and add it to new soap batter. That would give the same result as to what it would smell like if they were all combined. The soap color itself would just come out looking like some shade of purple or brown, so no point in wondering what color it would create.
I make soap for my living. I am such a huge fan of Saf so this was exciting to see and I was rooting for her bigtime. There is no doubt you mixed too long the first batch. Also 120 degrees is a bit too hot to soap at if you are wanting to do intricate swirls like those in Ann Marie's video. I would recommend you soap at room temperature to make sure you have a thin trace throughout so you have plenty of time to work with the batter. You did indeed pour your batter a bit slow as well. You really have to work fast if you are going to do a fancy design like the one you wanted. These are the reasons why the technique was listed as advanced. I made the same exact mistake my first batch and ended up with the dreaded "soap on a stick" you got as well. It is a learning experience and takes a lot of time but it is really fun and worth it. I have been doing it for 5 years now and absolutely love my job. I think considering this was her first attempts Saf did a fantastic job and as a soaper I appreciate how you highlighted the safety aspects in soaping. Keep it up Saf you will make the perfect loaf one day and it will be incredibly satisfying. :)
I am also a soap maker and fan of SAF I kept waiting for her to pour but she just kept talking lol I was about to give this same advice as you lol great minds think alike lol
i love that every time i watch a video from Safiya i learn something, she really knows the perfect balance between educational and entertaining !! good freaking job we stan knowledge
To be fair, the things she does are already kinda clickbait-y, so the titles can be straight to the point. Not saying this as a bad thing though, I love all of Saf's videos.
I've been watching Royalty Soaps for the last couple of years and the instant Tyler said "Maybe you should blend it for another 60 seconds", I almost screamed out loud at the screen, lol! I don't make soap but Katie from the channel is a sweetheart and offers a lot of advice (and is working on a "royal academy" for beginners) and I knew instantly that 60 seconds more at that point was too much :) Thank you, Katie, for teaching me that little bit about soap! And I'd like to try this at some point but I don't have much of anyone to give them to and don't want to make it a business...that market is congested already :)
“I kind of understand how soap making works but I’ll try and explain it” - literally explains it perfectly and scientifically accurately, impresses chemists and professional soap makers, invents soap
i have a question for you then. its been going around by experts and the like that soap isnt actually necessary to get things clean (hands/body, i guess they mean nothing particularly hardstuck like oil) is water truly enough? cause the explanation makes it seem like you’ll get a cleaner clean with soap.
Now if only she had the chemistry background to go into more detail about why the chemistry of soap makes it ideal for washing yourself as opposed to just using water. Yes, there are people who believe water is enough. I have met such people. For the record, it is not enough. ETA: Guess I should read the previous comments. Lol.

You're one brave lady! I had been making soap for like ten years before I tried a hardcore color layer like this. Hats off to you for a job well done! 😊
The fact that due to this video i discovered the channel of Royalty Soaps and started making soaps on my own is such an domino effect - and luckily i did cause soapmaking helps me staying sane in this crazy times right now. Thank you Saf, Tyler, Anne-Marie, Katie and all the others for always beingt so inspirational and motivating.
ALSO,, the fact that they and we didn't know what a thermometer gun was back in 2019 is amazing since it's one of the most useful tools now to identify ill people in 2020--
My mom and dad used to make soap. It was so beautiful and no one really cared. It's such an underrated art form. I really loved helping my parents carve it, even though I wasn't good at it. It was the best.
If they are not melt and pour soaps, which I dont think they are, thats not going to work. You cant just melt any type of soap. Even if they were, it is not advised to melt those soaps more than once, because they would start to sweat and get all gross and stuff. Otherwise, good idea.
Years ago I was considering making soap as a gift for my mom. Realizing it was quite a bit of work, I gave up on that idea but it was the Soap Queen channel that I first learned how to even get started from. I had NO idea until this video that she was the one behind Bramble Berry! I now watch the channel Royalty Soaps for fun and Katie on there is always talking about the company. I always thought of it as just some faceless corporation but the CEO and founder herself is active on RUclips. That's amazing :)
I mean wouldn't the owner admire her own products? I had no idea she was the owner of brambleberry until I googled her a few days ago lol. I knew she was sponsored by them, but I kind of thought she was an employee.
I was playing this video in class today (online class) and I didn't know my mic was unmuted. Long story short, the whole class ended up watching the video with me. Don't regret it.
You can say a lot of nice things about rococo, but "elegant" isn't one of them. It can be beautiful, exuberant, luxurious, whimsical, oozing splendour... but elegance implies a level of restraint that I don't think the rococo movement was interested in
Unfortunately handmade soaps don't 'melt'... 😭 BUT they can be shaved down and combined to make re-batch soap! The process is long and it really depends on which ones are cold-process soap and which are melt-and-pour soaps but you do end up with a ready to use soap with no cure time. All you need to do is let the water used during the re-batch process evaporate a bit from the final product!
Mohamed ahmed what the heck are you talking about? Most of your comment is understandable words, but the idea is unclear. Are you saying you are locked up right now? And agar the heck does the first part of your comment have to do with the second half, you don't make any sense. Where are you writing from right now?

You guys should make a soap batch (with black) and give them as gifts on your wedding
They are really popular for bridal showers too.
Hahaha! I enjoyed the sponification reactions.
Also using a soap/chocolate silicone mold, of something smaller for gifts for her wedding.
Congrats on being #1 on trending once again! You completely deserve it!

Henry Hernandez III Hi confusion I’m Wolfie!
I’m not a pro but I’m guessing she didn’t add something to keep the soap liquid, well liquid. It solidified really fast
Pls make more soap.

My mom and dad used to make soap. It was so beautiful and no one really cared. It's such an underrated art form. I really loved helping my parents carve it, even though I wasn't good at it. It was the best.
Can we just take a moment and appreciate all the work that lies behind this video!! Safiya has once again outdone herself ❤️
Her commitment to this channel blows my mind. So much research is done and time and effort put in. Love it!

Next video idea: Franken-soap with all the soaps from lush!
Neo Oen okay wait that would be amazing
Omfggg YESSSS
If they are not melt and pour soaps, which I dont think they are, thats not going to work. You cant just melt any type of soap. Even if they were, it is not advised to melt those soaps more than once, because they would start to sweat and get all gross and stuff. Otherwise, good idea.
I like how she doesn’t cut out the parts where she makes mistakes, that’s an honest RUclipsr right there. 🧛♀️
My favorite part of Anne Marie's videos is how hard she's trying to act like she doesn't own Bramble Berry and simply admires their products
@The Curly Q Lmao
That's kinda shady, low key
RJ James but I thought she does own bramble berry??
I mean wouldn't the owner admire her own products?
I had no idea she was the owner of brambleberry until I googled her a few days ago lol. I knew she was sponsored by them, but I kind of thought she was an employee.
Saf, if you get really good at this, you could have your handmade soaps as wedding favours
Ayyy pham
Infinity Payne omg lmao
Infinity Payne too much work for a bride
i read this a wedding flavor. what is a good wedding flavor?
Omg Hey I’m going to go with Cake as a wedding *flavour* 😂
Wow so much research and effort went into this video! (As do all of Saf’s videos) I like that she chooses quality over quantity 🤗
I was playing this video in class today (online class) and I didn't know my mic was unmuted. Long story short, the whole class ended up watching the video with me. Don't regret it.

they're really pretty for a first time. Especially with the fact that this is an advanced technique. Good job!
get you a man like tyler, one that likens your mistakes to the elegance of rococo aesthetic
Get you a man like Tyler, someone who is constantly making inappropriate jokes and makes it clear that he watches porn and is a big fan.
You can say a lot of nice things about rococo, but "elegant" isn't one of them. It can be beautiful, exuberant, luxurious, whimsical, oozing splendour... but elegance implies a level of restraint that I don't think the rococo movement was interested in
SAFIYA!!!! Your next video should be buying a bunch of fancy soaps, melting them, mixing them together, and making a franken-soap!
F R A N K E N S O A P
I AGREE
Unfortunately handmade soaps don't 'melt'... 😭 BUT they can be shaved down and combined to make re-batch soap! The process is long and it really depends on which ones are cold-process soap and which are melt-and-pour soaps but you do end up with a ready to use soap with no cure time. All you need to do is let the water used during the re-batch process evaporate a bit from the final product!
There's also a soapqueen video by Anne-Marie if that helps!
I didnt even know i wanted this until u said it... and now I must see it !
