  • Had a hard time lately trying to film, but here we are with some updates on growing vanda orchids in glass vases. My vanda orchids are doing FANTASTIC! They just love my vanda orchid care, they grow lots of roots, leaves and spikes. The Vanda Roll on Red rebloomed nicely with one spike with 20+ blooms, and she had a gorgeous scent already. In the next years whe will intensify it because the first time bloomers usually need some time to fully develop their potential. The Vanda Kapana Sunrise is just the most beautiful yellow vanda ever. She is also very, but very fragrant, and her maroon spots in the bright, rich yellor background color just look amazing. Unfortunately, she is a bit sick, might have fusarium, I will try first to water her more often and see if maybe that is the cause of dehydration. The Vanda Pachara Delight is growing 2 nicely spikes, can't wait to see her in full bloom! Also, the vanda natcha mandarin is in full growing mode!
    A short recap of my vanda orchid care in glass vases: water every 5-7 days in summer, and every 10-15 days in winter, fertilize at every watering with 200 ppm, pure water once every 5 waterings, lots of sunshine. Pretty simple, isn't it? :D

    They look great, I do mine on hooks. With all the tree frogs we have I'm sure I'd have broke glass everywhere in vases.

      Haha 😂 it happened to me once too. I don't have space to hang orchids, and no time or energy for watering more often. But they look beautiful bare rooted or in baskets...

    Very beautiful... and they sure are loving their vase. Outside the window looks nice, too. Also, 3X per year for the V. Pachara flowering with only 200 ppm is excellent considering your climate. That window lighting must be quality light, too.

      @MiracleOrchids1  5 лет назад +1

      200 ppm of N. That would make about 450 total ppm :)) My bad for not speaking the full sentence! I use first ray's N calculator. Thank you for watching!
      Ps: whenever you have time, maybe you'll make an update on your vandas. I miss them :P

    Hello, I am new to your channel. I am a windowsill grower and grow my vandals in vases also. Your vandas look so healthy! I water mine much more often than you do... maybe too often? When you water, you fill the vase up with fertilized water and let the vanda sit for how long? Then you dump out ALL the water? Do the vases get any direct sun on them? Mine do, and I wonder if it causes the inside of the vase to get too warm. Thank you SO much for answering my questions. Blessings, Laurie

    Well done! Your vandas are doing really well and blooming for you nicely. I have got a blue pachara recently and am hoping this one will do well for me. I am trying to grow it in glass vase and will do as you said. How long do you leave the water before dumped it out when watering?

    • @MiracleOrchids1
      @MiracleOrchids1  5 лет назад

      I'm glad my video was inspiring to you. I leave the water over night, maximum for 24 hours, then I dump it out

    Nice Vandas. I grow mine the same way, in big vases. And they like it. I think the vase keep The roots moist for a longer time, Than if they were just hanging. What is the name on the yellow with red spots?

    • @MiracleOrchids1
      @MiracleOrchids1  5 лет назад +1

      Vanda tiger tail, but it's found under 2 names. The one in the video and this. I think both are just comercial names, not registered hybrids. Thank you for watching!

    When you water them, how long do you leave them in water? And where would be the water level?

    • @MiracleOrchids1
      @MiracleOrchids1  5 лет назад

      I fill the glass vase completely, without submerging the leaves and I leave it for maximum 24 hours.

    Hi Miracle orchid, your vandas are amazing. I recently received a vanda garayi seedling that has yellowish & mottled leaves potted in a 1.5” pot in bark. Is it fine to transfer it to semi-water culture which is the method I grow my orchid with, now that is Autumn & the weather-starts to get cold. I need your advice for I never had vanda before. Thanks for your help.

      I do not recommend that. Keep it as it is. Water culture is not for vandas. But do check my other videos, i have lots of growing tips for there orchids

    Beautiful Vandas. So you water them at 450ppm just once in 5-7 days in summer and once in 10-15 days in winter and submerge them in water for 24 hours. Is this correct.?

    • @MiracleOrchids1
      @MiracleOrchids1  4 года назад

      That was the dream. This summer I barely watered them every 20-30 days in summer. They still bloomed. They are forgiving plants :D

    Ana Maria, first, I’m not home until tomorrow, so I will sent the package when I get back.
    Second, you said you feed at 200-250ppm in this video but in another you said 400-450ppm. Which should I use when fertilize?

    • @MiracleOrchids1
      @MiracleOrchids1  4 года назад

      About 200 ppm of N, for MSU fertilizer, is about 450 total ppm. As for the package, don't worry, whenever you'll have time, it's perfect. There is a N calculator on first ray's web site...

    I was looking for such a channel on youtube 👍 You have beautiful Vandas, beautiful flowers These vases are cool, I have not seen such colorful vases in Poland, I also grow Vandas in a vase this way and it is convenient, because I have several of them and Ascocentrum miniatum and they all bloom in autumn 😍 I have a large collection of other orchids, this is my passion 😍Subscribe 👍😉😊 Good luck watching your movies 😉
