Sound BlasterX G6 Software For Mac Workaround (EQ and Profiles)

- This is a workaround I discovered today for Mac users that want the benefits that the Sound Blaster software normally provides for Windows users, since there is no software for Mac. With this workaround, you can use whatever settings you put in place on your Windows PC and preserve them when you connect your G6 to your Mac, even without the software.

I have an old Creative Extigy, that works fine via USB to my Mac Mini with Ventura / Sonoma. Wondering if ANY Creative or Github project software will work with it ??? What I find best currently is to hook up the Extigy to a Windows PC via USB directly where you can change the profiles (plus you get the sound out here and no 5.1 hookups to the PC!!). Then I use the headphone jack the Mac Mini to the front 3.5 mm "line in" jack. I'm going even further and building a new system with sound via optical out. I really should make a video on this as it's the only cheap viable solution.
I only have recording, scout mode, mixer and lighting settings. Any idea how i get the other settings like eq etc.?
Yeah that's the tricky part. Pushing the "SBX" button on the side of the card toggles on/off whatever effects you have configured when it was last connected to a computer with the Command software. As mentioned in the video, the main "trick" here is to connect it to a Windows computer and tailor the EQ and other stuff to your liking. That way when you reconnect to a Mac, as long as that "SBX" button is on, it will use those settings even though you don't have the software on Mac. Those settings get saved into the sound card itself.
Very good video, sounds like how you figured out a good work around I would think for people that are only Mac users could possibly pick up a cheap used Windows laptop or desktop. I know that might not be ideal but in this day and age I know you can get old used Windows computers and laptops for like 75 to $100 and then you could do your work around
But the 5.1 / 7.1 headphone virtualization is software-based?
Interesting question. I've not used the virtual surround on mine, but will test that when I can and report back.
@@Digimorphosis aaaaand? :)
The device is saving the mic settings too? Or just sbx profile? Thanks.
Haven't tested the mic settings since I use a USB mic, so I couldn't say whether it syncs those as well. I suspect it would since it seems to save the other things.
Thank you; that's genuinely fascinating. My situation mirrors yours closely, as I utilize my MacBook M1 Max for professional tasks and Windows 11 for personal activities. I'm curious to discover the specific bit and kHz settings employed by my MacBook. Do you have any recommendations?
Hey there! Sorry for the slow reply. I was curious about that myself, but thus far haven't seen anywhere (in general) where you can see bitrates and such for audio, and no explicit system-wide audio settings like on Windows where you can see output specs. If I come upon something, I'll post it here. Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
@@Digimorphosis No, worries. I have found where this setting is in MacOS. Open Audio_Midi_Setup and there you can fine tune everything you need 🙂
@@Steuerlexi Awesome, I'll check that out!
I got the SoundblasterX G6 but it had no CD in the bundle. I went to Creative Labs site but there was no EQ application there for the device. Any clues? Or any link to download the G6 correspondant EQ software (for when i use it without the dac)
Try visiting this page: support.creative.com/products/productdetails.aspx?catid=1&subcatid=1138&prodid=23239&prodname=Sound+BlasterX+G6&subcatname=external+sound+cards&catname=Sound+Blaster
And scroll down to where it says Driver - Sound Blaster Command For Windows. That's the application that gives the driver for the sound card and lets you control all of the things the sound card can do, including the EQ but also the other features.
Thanks dude! @@Digimorphosis
Thank you
You're welcome. Hope this is helpful to you!
