I Find The Olight i3T 2 Modes A Confusing Choice

My impressions after 4-5 months of owning the Olight i3T 2. It only features two modes basically a firefly mode and a turbo mode. Sofirn SC18 Beam Tests At Night & Review (vs. Lumintop D2) - Great Pocket Light!
Great video. Thank you!
Thank you @Digimorphosis for the great vid. I'm obviously stuck in the stone age, because I hadn't realized that you could no longer "Format as Interal storage" in later Android versions. Is anyone able to tell me from which version # that started? Also, like you said, unless both the tablet & the external drive are firmly placed on a desk, having wires hanging out of a tablet is never a good idea. It's just a recipe for distaster as far as the ports are concerned, and depending on the model, can actually lead to motherboard damage =)
I'm a gamer and i'd love to connect my Apple AirPod Maxes to my PS5 controller? how can I do I do that? I do have MFI cable with a lightning to 3.5 mm connecter, but they don't work! Thank you!
@@msjhudson2049 Hmm. Is it an Apple cable? I've heard from a couple others over the years that there are evidently various Lightning to 3.5mm cables around, but only the one specifically made for the APM works because the other cables are starting with Lightning as the source (digital) and turning that into 3.5mm (analog), whereas the APM cable needs to start 3.5mm (analog) and turn that into Lightning (digital), and that matters. That'd be my guess as to why it's not working in your case, unfortunately. The whole cable business such as it is with APM is a pain.
I’m using the official apple cable with my ps5 controller with no issues, and it sounds amazing.
I have the Joker "Erizo". Excellent little camping knife.
What camera setup do you have? It's looking crisp
@@requiresmints Thanks! I use the Sony A74 and usually have a Sigma 35mm DGDN lens on for videos.
Very disappointed in APM. I’ll be returning mine. Inability to eq them stinks because out of the box they sound terrible. I’ll stick with my Sonys.
@@fhowland Yeah I really wish they could be EQ'd more easily as well. Sony providing a cross platform app for that is a great feature. I also don't think the APM are very comfortable - an opinion that's become more and more clear to me over the years of owning them.
This lens is a bit unusual. I also wish it had a faster aperture and a more silent and reliable focus for video, however I still love it. Even though the clicking sound of the AF drive makes me crazy. It is lightweight, has a very good form factor (=the smallest you can do without sacrificing on grip), excellent image quality even on 43 MP bodies, nice close MFD, little distortion and a nice hood that doesn't add any size to your lens. I wish they had at least given the focus ring less way. With 2340° it is really a pain to move it manually and makes MF for video usage very hard. However, with all its downs, I have shot my most favourite images with this lens. Plus, and I can't emphasize this enough, I really like how solid the rubber gasket on these Tamrons is. I have shot this lens in ice, rain and snow and have never had any problems with it.
Joe over at 5 Minute Knives will make you awesome custom kydex sheaths for very good prices.
I have both knives and love both. Eafengrow is one of my favorite knife makers now
Was asking chatgpt for a comparison between this headset and some edifier one and chatgpt recommended your video, nice review😉
The sheath on the flissa is terrible.... im making a kydex sheath for the one i ordered
@@shawndoyle6460 Nice. How hard is it to make a Kydex sheath? I've wondered about doing that myself.
@Digimorphosis tons of videos on making kydex sheaths..... I find it easier than leather to use... plus kydex doesn't retain moisture like leather
I agree with you and the big swing and low run time on high is what has kept me away from this light so far. I will likely get one just to check out for myself but the 40-50 Lumen low mode on my Protac 1L1AA, Macrostream and Microstream USB seems to be a good output for low mode with me.
It's still over a 1/4 lb so not sure any long distance hikers would use it, however some shorter trips where you might do some bushcraft for fun, sure.
@@toocleanpappas5397 fair point. I've not used it yet in any long distance hiking scenario but mainly for my EDC pack and it's nice to know that when I am out and about I have the ability to touch up my knife. Seems like it would be very handy for a camping trip also but for big hikes where one has to be very conscious about weight it may or may not justify itself.
I see that you've tried plugging in the Airpods Max into a headphone DAC. How helpful is that in terms of improving sound quality? I have a small headphone dac primarily for Hi Res audio with Sony XM4s. I like being able to EQ the Sonys. My primary use case for over ear headphones is traveling on a plane, so noise cancellation is of top importance. Any thoughts if buying Airpods Max (on sale) is worth while. Or are the Airpods Max just as good or better than the Sonys + DAC. Thx!
@@seajlim Yeah it's not a huge difference plugging the APM into a good DAC. It's been a while since I've done it, but from what I recall the main difference was the sound stage seemed a bit wider and there was a bit more detail in the presentation. And like you said you have the ability to EQ the music which is really helpful. I find the sound presentation of the XM4 to be fairly different than the AirPods Max. There's a bit more clarity to the sound in the AirPods but the XM4 definitely has better bass so it kind of depends on what you are going for. I also find the XM4 more comfortable to wear. Hope that helps.
@ That's helpful. Thanks. While I typically prefer clarity, I like a balanced sound. So the XM4s help with their bass and the DAC helps with smoothness, some clarity, but really improves the XM4's muddy bass
Great review! Just helped me decide to pull the trigger on the Avispa. Thanks!

Sounds like a external sd card reader is the way to for games and movies?
I have to see if they make ear pads for my Sony 1000x m5s
How does the SD card handle actual work files. PDF. Word. Excel. Thoes kind of things?
@@TDITTY117 Those should be no problem since the apps that use them allow you to select where to save or load from. You should be able to make folders for those and store them OK as far as I understand.
c8 better
Interestingly, no one ever find out what DAC chip that Apple usb-c dongle use on the internet. can't find that info in forums, reddit or chatGPT...
Interesting, I wonder how it can handle the low end of other headphones like Edition XS planar or vintage AKG k240 4-600 Sextetts?
thank you
What do you think about 1770 MK2, compare to first generation?
@@VictorVedmich I haven't gotten my hands on the newer ones yet, but would definitely like to. I'm not sure when that will be since I have other tech priorities right now, but I will definitely do a video about them when I can try them. I'm a hobbyist and while once in a while I get lucky and someone sends me a pair for review, most of the time I'm buying them myself and it's an expensive hobby. 😊
I have the new AirpodsMax with USB-C. I want to use it on the airplane (AUX audio). What cable should I use ? I very much dislike AirFly. I would like to use the USB-C AirPods Max and connect it to the airplane AUX audio. Thank you.
@@SankalpiCarey I've done some reading on this and it seems Apple dropped support for wired audio altogether with the newer USB C version. There doesn't seem to be a USB C to 3.5mm cable like the old Lightning to 3.5mm one, which is really disappointing.
@@Digimorphosis Thank you !
I also have to agree with you sir but i believe thats why they are bundling these lights with other olight products to get their inventory lowered...
@@vdawg8401 That's a good observation! Makes sense to me.
Hi very nice review I play on ps5 pro I was going to get the new dt 1770 pro 2 do you think those would also be good for gaming or the mmx 330 pro whats your opinion which ones would you pick thank you stay safe and happy gaming to all.
I just bought a Tab s9 Ultra with 256gb of storage. I was planning to get a 1T microSD but now I'm wondering if i should return the Tab s9 Ultra for a Tab s9+ with 512gb. This just stinks. Or, just return it and order the Odin 2 Portal with 1T, but it's not a tablet.
Understandable. I guess it depends on what you think you'll use the extra storage for. Some folks have commented here that to them the SD card is mostly for photos and music, or other large file storage, and not really for apps. For that stuff, it's probably fine even with the other limitations. But I agree with you -- if you otherwise think you'll want to use the tablet for general life stuff and will have all kinds of apps, games, and personal files on it, having more than 256GB internal storage might be helpful. I have an M2 iPad Pro with 1TB storage having come from a 256GB model previously, and while I certainly haven't filled that up or use most of that all the time, I will say it's very nice to kind of indiscriminantly put files on it and never worry, where I would've had to be a lot more conscious about that on my previous tablet. I put that out there if that perspective is helpful. (Of course in the iPad's case that extra storage is a big step up in price, also and to some degree also true in Samsung tablets.)
@Digimorphosis yeah, for me alot of it is going to be for emulation and Android games. I'm upgrading from Fire HD 10 plus 11th gen 32gb because there's just so much you can't play on that Tablet. N64, Dreamcast, and PSP is the best you can do. No GameCube or above. I know you can put roms on microSD, but I'm worried about those bigger Android games I currently can't play, like Genshin Impact, Asphalt 9, and many others that I just couldn't play or install. If I'm gonna upgrade from cheap Fire 10 plus to premium, I don't wanna end up regretting it because I didn't get enough internal storage thinking it'd be okay because I have the microSD card.
Hello! Thank for your video!!! Do you think this adapter works for my lens 36 mm F1.4 DG sigma with my Sonny a 6000? I really appreciate your answer. Thank you!
I don't have that lens myself to try personally, and it's hard for me to say mostly because I've seen so many different (and conflicting) experiences in the comments about this adapter. Some people say it works awesome with all their lenses, for photo and video, and others have issues with several of their lenses and can't do video autofocus (as was my issue). I would be tempted to say that since you have a Sigma lens and not a Canon, that this adapter would be more likely to work well. But then, as I mentioned in the video, my own Sigma lens had autofocus issues for video. Because of that, I'd be reluctant to throw out a specific guess about how it would handle a particular lens, especially one I haven't tried myself. Sorry about that -- I wish I were able to be more helpful here.
@@Digimorphosis Thank you for take your time an answer. I will get the adapter and see the result, for sure I will share with you ! Thanks again!
UPDATE: I've gotten some clarification since publishing this that the advantage of 32-bit regarding clipping is less that it won't clip and more that the audio can often still be recovered after clipping in a way 16-bit cannot. That matched my experience editing the audio from this, since even when it clipped I could almost always rescue that bit.

Great points, and great video!!
Aaaaaawsome vildeo. I too was under the illusion of the "its gotta have a scandi grind". I thought i would get a saber ground knife one time. I used it hard in the same way you are describing using the 143. It worked awesome. I started doing bushcraft things with it. I loved the weight, strength versatility of it. I totally quit using my scandi blades. Ive done a whole lot less sharpening and worrying about the delicate edge. Its been so freeing. Ive never bought another scandi edge anything since then. I dont miss them at all. Agian great video. Thanks for being honest and good luck. You have just earned another fan/subsriber!

How is autofocus for video recording
@@pagillasanthoshkumar5764 it seemed solid to me. I was pretty impressed with how well EF lenses worked in general with the adapter.
I would use the microSD card for 4k videos , photos , music to where I don't have to constantly plug and unplug a external drive that will more than likely require more power to use anyways
@@B.D.TRX4 Agreed - that's seems like the ideal use case for the card given the other tradeoffs. 👍🏻
Great to carry both. The Arc is great tool but a Leatherman blade isn’t a substitute for a dedicated folder IMO
Yeah the utility of also having a larger and more capable knife is there, for sure. For me, I prefer to keep my pockets as unencumbered as I can, so if I already have a multitool in my pocket I don't also want a knife in there. (And it wouldn't be ideal for my other pocket, either, but that's just me.)
I bought the new usbc version. Assuming i could plug it in when I’m doing video edits for lower latency. Sadly that’s not the case. Not sure if I will keep these now. If I bought a lightning version would I be able to buy that $35 lightning to 3.5mm cable to do this ? I’m a bit confused
I don't own the newer USB-C version myself but my guess is that yeah, the Lightning version allows you to use the Lightning to 3.5mm adapter. They may have a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter now for the newer one, not sure. But unfortunately it can't be USB-C input straight to a computer, unfortunately, and I agree that's a real missed opportunity.
@ thank you. I think I’m going to sense this usbc version back and buy an older lightning pair. Shout I use the adapter or buy the actual apple 3.5mm to lightning cable?
I have the i3t 2 and the i3t (older model). I agree with you, a 20 or 30 lumens mid mode would make these lights perfect.
Awesome review, you are well spoken in front of the camera’ appreciate your time!

For battery versatility check out the streamlight protac 1L-1AA. It hasn't met a battery it doesn't like.
@@mewithknives3481 Thanks! I'm looking that up right now. 👌🏻
Stuff like this is a huge annoyance to me too, I think its silly to have a quality flashlight in 2024 that doesnt have a middle setting and memory and its incredibly annoying that the reviewers are either not talking about it or just glossing over it. I got the RovyVon A8 from recommendations like this and the same exact thing is annoying as heck with that one, because alot of times when you want to use a small flashlight like this, you dont want to bother other people in addtition to all the things you mentioned. Trying to find my way to bed in a dark room for instance.
P.S., when I mention it doesn't have memory mode, I mean in the traditional sense where it reuses whatever the last mode you had on was. In this case, it's programmable defaults, but it's not the same FWIW.
I have this dac and yeah the cable situation is a bit headache but recently the manufacturer themself also put out some alternate cable, and for this dac I think it is using OTG only cables (ML-06) which is not transferring power through the cable
Could I use this Q11 with audio m50x?
I don't see why not. Those headphones are a fairly low 38 ohms impedance so they should be fairly easy to drive.
I haven't used many companion mods but this is the one that I always use, no fail. One of my favorite mods ever.
I agree that the 143 is a great knife. Eafengrow makes some surprisingly good knives for the money. Some of their handle and blade designs can be a bit different, but there are some more conventional ones as well. I have 3 myself. The ef 131 is more along the size of the flissa 9. The 143 of course. The newest is the ef 148 which is more along the lines of the 143 but even bigger, very much like a Junglas 2. I did take off the teklok and added an aftermarket dangler to the bigger knives to make the carry much easier. Otherwise no complaints about any of them.
Good recommendation on the dangler. I'd not ever used one myself until recently when checking out the Joker Campero, and liked it more than I thought I would. I'd bet that would be helpful for a knife as big as this one also to sit it lower. Thanks for the feedback!
Where did you get the aftermarket dangler?
