Join us for an exclusive tour of Boondocker 3.0, the brainchild of Josh, a Miami entrepreneur turned van life enthusiast. This isn't just any van; it's a culinary haven on wheels, designed for those who cherish both cooking and the great outdoors.
🍳 Kitchen Centric Design:
Josh's passion for cooking and eating inspired Boondocker 3.0's design. The kitchen features a massive Isotherm Cruise 195 fridge-freezer combo, despite its high power consumption. For those unexpected cold showers, Josh cleverly installed a foldable shower from Tetra van next to the refrigerator. The kitchen's crown jewel? A Speak Easy Appliance cabinet, perfect for stowing appliances or even converting into a liquor cabinet.
💧 Innovative Water Systems:
The van boasts a deep laundry sink paired with a pull-out shower faucet, a soap dispenser, and a reverse osmosis water filter with UV filtration. Interestingly, the water heater connects to the van's coolant system, ensuring hot water is always available post-drive. An induction cooktop replaces traditional propane options, eliminating excess heat inside the van.
🛌 Comfort and Practicality:
Josh didn't compromise on comfort; the full-size bed is set lower than usual to allow sitting up easily. A marine fan, strategically placed light switches, fan control, and a highly efficient 12,000 BTU air conditioner ensure comfort in all seasons.
🔋 Power and Off-Grid Living:
Emphasizing off-grid capabilities, Boondocker 3.0 is equipped with a secondary alternator charging at 250-300 amps and a DC-to-DC charger. Solar panels, while more for maintenance, complement the power system, which centers around two Lithionics 315 amp internal BMS batteries.
🚚 The Build and Cost:
From a $55,000 base van to a meticulously crafted home, Josh invested in quality and functionality. He collaborated with Sarasota's best van builder, Lucraft, to achieve a balance of aesthetics and practicality, valuing the build at approximately $150,000.

I love the layout! You got everything...big fridge freezer, big sink, a toilet, shower, plenty of storage, and it all fits! The wood warms it up & looks great!

This is super impressive and SO clean and organized, no clutter or extra things. I would have to have it like this if I tried van life. I would feel claustrophobic with stuff hanging everywhere, but that’s just me. I’ve never seen a van build I didn’t like!

my next van will have a secondary alternator. I get 70 amp charge off my factory alternator fine but large lithiums can take so much more!

I think for the price you payed, you could have got a full bathroom. You have the room for it.
Why are the showers so small
With such limited square footage, van showers are often as small as possible. That being said, we love how Josh incorporated both an indoor and outdoor shower in this van! That definitely adds some flexibility. :)
Nice van build but I have to say all these modern chic builds on RUclips especially for the price have very little character, colour or soul just like many new suburban homes. You can build something very nice a bit more rustic and reclaimed with more soul and vibrancy for a lot cheaper. To each their own of course but I respect the build and the hard work!
The beauty of vanlife is you can build what you want, according to your tastes. I happen to think the van has a lot of character and soul.

Another van builder that thinks paying $100,000 plus for a van is what people can afford. You are part of the problem not part of the solution.
Never said it's what people can afford. Each person has their own individual needs and budget. They asked me how much the van would cost to build and I told them. I'm not selling van builds. My van isn't for everyone, never said it was. My van is for me. Not everyone wants to live in a budget van. Different strokes for different folks.

@@josh.theberge That fridge ❤ I'm a food lover myself and having a good amount food on board makes me feel safe so to say , only thing I'd change is I want to be able to cook a small turkey (12lb) dinner for me and friends out in the woods by the lake or river and have a fabulous feast 😊. your home is amazing the only thing else needed is a portable washer &dryer they are amazing $200 and 2ft tall by 2ft side to side and 1.1/2 deep, you control the water needed for washing and the spin dryer is mind blowing stuff is 75%dry then you hang in sun or near your blowing heat source and boom 💥 fully dry in 30mins to 1 hour for jeans and 20mins for socks, t-shirts etc... You need one 😂 to compete your Beautiful home.
There’s lots of people in this country that buy expensive items like that.
