Rest In Peace LT. Ronnie E Gies and all of the other brothers lost on that tragic day. Great video, can’t wait to see what else you have coming up. My son is in E-236 aka the Brooklyn Fire Dept. Lots of history in that single engine firehouse.
Thanks GS for the great and informative video. I am retired now, had 22 years on the Flushing fire dept. In Michigan. 6 miles west of Flint, around 20 thousand population with the township. The name of the town used to be Clayton until former residents of Flushing Queens N.Y. moved here and the city's name was changed to Flushing in the late 1800's. A great little department trained by Flint city municipal chiefs to do aggressive interior attacks. My dad and father in law where city of Flint firefighters. But we've always loved and respected the FDNY.and the squads have always particularly interested me. And I really enjoyed the neighborhood history that you included in the video. I'm a musician and have played in Manhattan quite a few times over the years with different bands. Grand Funk, Rusty Wright and Mark Farner bands. Got stranded at LA Guardian during the 2016 blizzard after playing at BB Kings that night. You guys are the greatest firefighters in the world. And the rest of us all look up to and respect you. Keep salty and take all our prayers and blessings with you wherever you go!
Thanks. Great Video. Just listening to FDNY radio alarm broadcast has made me try to become a better person . I hear dedication, good manners, professionalism, confidence, respect, and a willingness to get the job done. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
very cool video ,keep up the good work,I am retired now ,but had a few details to E-288 (before the squad),and also had the pleasure of working with Ronnie Geis in E 308.
I grew up in Maspeth. This was my local firehouse. Thanks for spotlighting it. On your next visit please stop by the monument at the intersection of Grand Ave, 69 St and the LIE just to the rear of the house.
interesting about the squads and rescues... their duties parallel each other so much that i'm surprised that the city leaders haven't tried to pare them down, get rid of one or the other because of their overlapping duties... in this day and age of cities crying BROKE, fire depts. are THE FIRST ones on the chopping block... good for you guys that you've been able to stave off the potential cuts to this vital part of the dept

Great video explaining the history of the company. Very surprised to hear 288 lost 19 members at 9/11 when only 8 are listed. Are you counting former members of the company too?

@@GymRat202 Trust me, I know that it was our own Government that perpetrated 9/11. But I'd like to see interviews of the first Firefighters that were hired to replace the 343 Firefighters killed. 25mfd gotta remember that Squad companies also run hazmat. That is something rescue companies don’t do.
25mfd Squads also protect a first due area as an engine company first.
Great history lesson! Never forget!!!

May I ask, What is the difference between: Ladder, Engine, squad and or Rescue? Do they all do different things?
Rescue and squads are part of special operations command and they have extra training and equpiment that engiens and truck don’t have.
Good video but may I suggest losing the unnecessary background music,
