Gus Fring is one of my all-time favorite characters from any TV show, movie or book. He was absolutely terrifyin, and Esposito just crushed it with his ever nuance, facial expression... he controlled the time and milked as much gut-wrenching tension as he could from each moment. He's also a terrifying example of Jungian Archetypes and examining man as a mask he wears for the world, compared to the man he is beneath it. I skipped out on Better Call Saul (stopped watching after season 1). Looks like I need to catch up for more of Fring's back story. Terrifying and tremendous character.
1:56 Gus: "Look at me..." Nacho slowly looks at Hus with much trepidation. Gus: (in a grim voice) "From now on.... You.. Are.. Mine". Me: 😮... He is my hero.
Gustavo fring was incapable of feeling things such as remorse, empathy, or grief. But at the same time he understood that most humans do, and that separates him from every other cold hearted killer.
"A dog who bites every owner he's had can only be disciplined with a firm hand or put down." Holy shit. Only Giancarlo could deliver that in that way. Perfect.
Gus Fring is probably the most genius written character I've ever seen in a TV show. Gus, in a way, is the living embodiment on what and how the United States society operates. While someone like Tuco represents more of what a brutal dictatorship would look like in a nutshell, Gus displays more of what a Neoliberal, "democratic", corporate societal mindset would represent. He is way more formal, classy, by the rules, and actively goes against the impulsivity of someone like Tuco. All of his actions are strategically planned for a guaranteed outcome to benefit him. What's important about this is that Gus may seem like he's a much better person to be friends/coworkers with (on the outside), but on the inside lies a brutal psycopath who is just as bad, if not worse, than someone like Tuco. He literally killed Victor with a box cutter in front of Walt, Jesse, and Mike, in such a savage, but also somehow collective way. That directly relates to Tuco brutally punching one of his henchman to death, just because he said something Tuco didn't like. Their end results as people are exactly the same. They have the same brutal character outcome, but have a different approach in how they express themselves as people, while also operating large drug empires differently. I also just want to add that I am in no way comparing a full blown authoritarian dictatorship to the U.S. Government. However, I can't ignore the way Vince wrote these characters to resemble those spectrums in society, and how connected they can be in terms of overall outcome. It really leads me to question how beneficial the United States Government really is to its people. I might be analyzing this too much tho idk.
It makes sense if you're to say the US has significant corruption in the shadows compared to open corruption in authoritarian regimes. I don't see where democracy comes in.
The end results don't matter as much as the motivations though. Gus killed his employee because he was spotted at the scene of a crime and he didn't want his own cover to be blown, Tuco killed a guy in a roid-rage for trying to do his job (kinda).

Great montage. Best villain of all time IMO.
Great actors every one from the cast, but specially Giancarlo Esposito, one of my favorite acting characters Gustavo Fring... bravo!!
Gus writing his death warrant 8:20
nah he did that when he decided to work with walter
his death came to him so quickly after that
Thug: "That's how you do it, we had them pissing their pants."
Gus with a plastic bag: "ight bet"
I would be honored and terrified if he was my boss
Best thing to do would be to get away from that man.And make sure the slate was clean when you left.
Gustavo fring was incapable of feeling things such as remorse, empathy, or grief. But at the same time he understood that most humans do, and that separates him from every other cold hearted killer.
He seemed to grieve over Max though
This guy should play as one of continentals hotel manager on john wick universe. The one that high table dont dare to mess with
Gustavo even goes to throw up with style lol
I like that you ordered the scenes in chronological order in which the events took place
09:18
I love this part when the dark series theme song plays
His voice is comforting and at the same time terrifying, brilliant acting :)
One of the best villains of all time.
This guy has the situation he's both feared and respected. In my opinion one of the greatest characters created
I really thought that he is a superhero when he walked out of the exploded room, then I'm shocked as he did it with a half-body integrated
He also dodged sniper bullets
I really want to visit one of his restaurants as a regular customer.
Pollo's Loco
Such an iconic screen figure. Legend.
The delivery of “You are mine” was chilling
Gus fring was always the hero of the show.
Keep going bro👍👍👍
A Best of Gus compilation has to be unimpeachable and impeccable.
Considering his situation, he did everything correct
Gus is much more daunting than dexter. Probably because we have less insight into his personal side of his character.

Kobe!!!! 🙏🏾
I screamed that when I watched for the first time.. And now I have to do the same everytime I re-watch bcs
Gustavo Fring absolutely terrifies me
I’m this close to rewatch better call Saul and then breaking bad for the 5th and 17th time
I love how a character normally so serious and determined is still happy when they make a shot into the trash bin 😂
"A dog who bites every owner he's had can only be disciplined with a firm hand or put down."
Holy shit.
This is absolute truth beautifully written. 💯
Aaaaand guess who's a Republican?
It makes sense if you're to say the US has significant corruption in the shadows compared to open corruption in authoritarian regimes. I don't see where democracy comes in.
The end results don't matter as much as the motivations though. Gus killed his employee because he was spotted at the scene of a crime and he didn't want his own cover to be blown, Tuco killed a guy in a roid-rage for trying to do his job (kinda).
He’s better in Better call Saul to me, written better and performed better
I think it's because he had more screen time so we got more time with him
I Think it is because thet the actor has improved
thats because its more focused on the other side, spends more time doing a character study of Saul, Gus and Mike
