The cams do work well. They made a huge improvement under 6000rpm. The car had so much midrange power, felt like a higher displacement motor. Top end, only a slight increase over stock as per dyno figures - you won't really notice when driving. I just have the 2 videos on my channel from when I had the cams installed. I have since removed them and gone back to stock.
@@chucks_garage987 why did you go back to oem? I read some forums and one person said after installation his motor had a little whine to it which is abnormal
@@jdm4lifebro279 I installed a high flow cat recently, my car wasn't as quick after that. I initially also wanted to do more n/a mods, but I lost a bit of interest in it. I decided to take the cam out and sell it. Everyone I chatted to that had the cams, also had the whine, including myself. There was no wear at all after almost 2 years of use, so they are fine.
No they go for about 20-30. Highest ive seen in CA was 42k and it was an ap1 with 8 thousand original miles. Was crazy. Ap2s are cheaper, not by much though. This is an ap2
I initially planned to do a lot more N/A mods, but I kind of lost interest, so decided to take them out and go back to stock. These cars and motors have also become so pricey, so I feel it's not worth risking long term reliability by doing work on the head. Bolt ons and a good tune is perfect for these cars.
If I could only keep one, it would be the S2000. The Honda is more engaging to drive and feels like a go cart. Revving to 9000rpm never gets boring, and the gearbox is the best! The CLK is more of a freeway cruiser. It is very quick and it sounds amazing as well! It is definitely the better place to be in on longer drives. I wish it came with a better/faster gearbox tho.
@@chucks_garage987 That's pretty slick, nice descriptive reply! Also driving a Merc at the moment and it's a bit of a depravation chamber. Haven't ripped around in a long while, might be time for a midlife crisis. Get back in touch with the road in something decent. Thanks for the reply!
not really, speedo is delayed in way it displays speed. Time is around high 6s or low 7s. For a gentle launch it is fast enough. Also 7s is fast plus it aint even the point of the car. Its about how it makes you feel when you drive.
In Europe, Japan, Australia etc, the facelift S2000 was identical to the AP2 but it retained the F20C motor. That's why my car in this video has the AP2 cluster with the 9000 rpm redline. The F20C in the facelift car drives much better than the original pre-facelift AP1.
A dream car 4 real
i respect it
Keep posting more not a lot of people have the ballade drop in cams.. what do you think about them?

@@chucks_garage987 wow thanks for the info man…what’s your opinion on why it does that? Maybe the material ballade used?
I'm not too sure on what the cause of the whine would be.
The rpm..
IS OVER 9000!!!
It's just under 9000...something like 8930
Is a joke

50 grand MSRP in today's money

What made you take off the ballade cam?

Do you prefer this or the CLK?

@@philonetic321 do it!!!!
8 second 0-62 mph
If you launch it at 7000rpm +, it will do 0-62 in high 5s. Car wasn't launched on this run.

I am deeply confused by the ap2 cluster with 9k rpm redline???
