@@NuYawk I like your positivity, makes us feel we're there, and how I'm not the only one who puts parsley on my macaroni & cheese and say I'm eating healthy
This is one of my favourite solo travel concepts - the NCL rooms are just SO well designed and thought out. I found the solo experience on NCL Escape to be better than anything I've seen before - even details like reserved seating in the theatre had been thought out - I was just so so impressed!
First thing first ... there is no hidden mascot in this video (which would normally be Captain Morgan). I pretty much commentate throughout the entire video and there was no place for me to squeeze in a mascot clip! Going forward, I'll try to shut up for a moment so I can get the hidden mascot segment in! I was very happy and comfortable in my studio cabin and the studio lounge was a huge convenience! My next cruise will most likely be a balcony cabin just to try to get as many cruising experiences as possible on the channel. If you enjoyed the video, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the Nu Yawk channel if you haven't done so already! If you would like to help support the Nu Yawk channel, click on the 'THANKS' button located near the thumbs up button! Thanks everyone!
Good video jeff. I stayed in the studio rooms on the ncl escape their perfect for 1 person. I had to take the hangers off because when the ship moves you would hear them bang into the wall
Great video. Just sailed the Prima. The key card goes in the light slot to let housekeeping know you’re in the cabin. The solo cabin looks very comfy. Thank you! Enjoy the cruise!
seems small but comfortable.... I think i'd need a balcony ... Claustrophobia is a real thing.. LOL... Either a balcony or i'd be outside the room quite a bit.... Thanx for sharing Jeff!!! Peace
Hi, Jeff! I am sooo excited to find your videos! I’m a Manhattanite (2-yr transplant from Boise, ID), lucky enough to live in Hell’s Kitchen in a 14th floor apt that faces Pier 90 et al, giving me stellar views of the ships. I’m taking my inaugural cruise 🎉in March. I’ll be on the Getaway in a studio cabin. I see in your video you were in 10515. I’ll be in 10505 so I’m intuiting my cabin will be much like yours. As someone new to cruising I’m enjoying your video series. Thanks for creating and sharing! Shawna
Thanks so much Shawna! I know you'll have a blast on the cruise! The Getaway is an awesome (and huge) ship! Let me know if you have any questions as you get ready. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Hi Jeff. Glad you enjoyed the cruise. Was it possible to bring your own Brita Pitcher (small one) instead of di$hing out $30 smackeroos for the "bottled" stuff? Didn't see a fridge (frigo [free-go] in French) -- was one provided? Blow dryer to warm up food? W-h-a-t? (tee-hee-hee). Jeff, is that a dimmer switch at the far-right frame here (12:09)? Looking forward to the next vlogs, thanks Jeff!
You cant bring liquids on board but if you want to bring a pitcher and you have room, I'm sure you could. Im also sure the larger cabins have refrigerators. Yes, blow dryers and irons are great for warming up food! I've mentioned that in lots of videos! (You'll never find an iron on a cruise ship). Thanks for watching Wayne! Have an awesome weekend!
Hi Jeff, Great video. Possibly doing Mediterranean next July Solo Gateway. Cabin looks fine, quick shoutout. How did you find others ? Pretty friendly, do they have someone to kinda start a first day meetup? I’m cool traveling and cruising solo, I’ve done it for years. Just curious how did you find it overall? Knowing the crowd on a European cruise will be a more diverse then a Miami cruise. Thanks Jeff
Hi George! I loved the NCL Getaway Studio cabin and lounge! When your all settled in, go to the Studio Lounge right down the hall, you'll find an erase board where others might be looking to get together for dinner or drinks. If the board is empty be the first to start something! An example is 'Hey, I'm going to the show tonight, anyone want to meet up for cocktails before the show starts? Let's meet here at 7PM!" or "I'm going shopping tomorrow when in port. Anyone want to join me"? Usually the Studio area has it's own social director as well. Find out who that is and talk to them. There are also organized singles meet-ups around the ship. Make sure you read the Freestyle Daily that will be left on your bed every day. Have a great time and keep in touch! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
They promise the water is safe. Most dont drink it however! I'm sure there a refrigerators in the larger cabins. Thanks for watching Harry and have a great weekend!
Great video! Couldn't catch your first cruise video cause I've been very busy of late, so where is this cruise headed to? I wouldn't mind kicking back for 9 days on the Getaway! Looks like a fun ship. Looking forward to what you release for us!
Thanks jarvislandry14! Here is the cruise Playlist so you can catch up if you want! ruclips.net/p/PLkdzOglUv919K0f32vS9fkmIC3F-uxM4i Have a great weekend!
I'm not sure I'm saying this right, but how long did it take you to feel at home in your cabin, or did you ever. I hope I'm not sounding rude (Jeff, I'm one to overdo the cocktails, so I need it to recover while I'm in misery)
I was at home right away! The studio cabin was small but was very comfortable and did its job. I was in it for 11 days and didn't grow tired of it. The Cabin Steward was awesome as well! My next cruise in a few weeks will be in a larger room.
Wow! This was very interesting. So small yet they managed to fit all those things in there. Still way too small and claustrophobic for me. I know you are barely spending any time in your cabin but when I'm in there, I would still feel like the walls are closing in on me. This reminds me of that movie "Out To Sea" made in 1997 starring Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon when they get to the cabin and see how small it is, Jack says to Walter "Look at the size of this room! A good fart will give you a concussion!" 🤣🤣 You should watch that movie if you never saw it.
Nice! Cruise ships have come a long way since I went back in 1982. There were no lounges for single cabins and your room is as big as the cabin I shared with two beds if not bigger. I still had fun but it was before wifi and no tv's in the room. Your room is really nice! Let me know how your wifi works on the cruise. Enjoy!
WiFi was horrible. I couldn't upload videos. Thanks goodness I scheduled most of the videos for the channel prior to my leaving. Royal Caribbean is using a new technology created by Elon Musk which apparently works just as good as land-based internet. I'm sure other cruise lines including Norwegian will follow suit. Thanks for watching Cranium Lost!
They had several meet-ups in the Studio Lounge. Also a whiteboard where you can join others for dinner, lounge, excursions, etc. You can participate in group stuff or not...completely up to you!
@@NuYawk a whiteboard, I guess, is where you leave messages for others??! Nice idea for hanging with others. In a side discussion, I've often thought they should legalize prostitution on cruise ships. But you give up fighting for such stuff before you even begin
dude... you dont need to have the MUSIC SO LOUD.. you only need to raise the music enough to distort the copyright music, try a real low level, then upload, if something copyright is detected, then raise it just a bit and upload again.. do it little by little
I really wanted to try the solo experience for my first cruise. On this particular cruise, window and balcony cabins were about the same price as the inside solo. My next cruise (hopefully in the Spring) will be a balcony cabin. Thanks for watching and subscribing Bernice!

Just no fridge to keep water cold.
Big one on the lack of mini fridge for waters or yogurt pots brought back. I'll live I guess. Oddly I'm mostly annoyed by the sink in the open. 😂
