A bonus video this week!
In this video I demonstrate how to make gum paste roses. Normally to make large blooming roses, you need to dry out the bud for a day or two, then apply your first 2 layers of petals, let that dry for another day, add the next layer etc. I say FORGET about that.
This method that I use produces a beautiful, professional and mostly blooming rose without the ridiculous waiting time. It literally doesn't take more than an hour or so to make the one rose, that's including petal drying time.
The important thing is to allow your petals to dry. Although I don't mean dry to the point where they are rock solid and no longer flexible. There is an optimum level of dry, where they hold their shape when standing (i.e they don't wilt when they are upright) but they are not so dry that they are no longer flexible. You still want them to give a little so you can manipulate the petal away from the rose bud and make the flower look open. This takes me about 40 minutes worth of drying time, although depending on your climate, it could take longer or less time.
I hope you guys find this tutorial useful! I had a great time making it, and would like to especially thank Luvbaking1 for requesting a sugar rose tutorial :) thank you!!

Adorable! Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you. I have tried one of the smaller petal cutters and it has worked a treat!! Am so so happy with them superb turtioral!!! xx
Great tutorial. My roses look like your wilted one, which is still pretty but I love the idea of the teaspoons, frilling, drying and then putting the petals together.
It's just some kind of art work.Thank you for the tricks.
Simply beautiful!
I enjoyed it. I like that the camera is still and you can actually see what you are doing. very educational.
Thank you for making these without wire. I find most flowers require wire and when I am making them for an order I am not concerned with wires being unseen, especially when children are involved. Beautiful, easy, and elegant. Thank you.
thank you for the comment +Pascal Roy :) I personally don't like working with wires and avoid it where I can Although with some flowers it's just impossible. I find allowing the petals to dry out a little takes away the need for wires with roses x)
Oh my gosh, thank u sooo much for making this vid really appreciate it, roses r beautiful Cnt wait to try these, ur a gem thank u again 😘👌

+Rosie's Dessert Spot It's been a while since I was able to sit and actually watch a video but I came back to your channel today to see if you had any tutorials for poinsettias. I seen your lovely cupcakes and your wreath both are quite awesome but I was wondering about gum paste or fondant poinsettias. I know I probably should have been checking a bit sooner but time is never on my side and I'm late for everything.
very beautiful. just learning and your tutorulial was very good thankyou
Ohhh so much nicer than the fondant ones I attempted yesterday ..I’m in UK, not heard of gumpaste . I’ve sent for some powder called Tylo, someone told me to mix in the fondant .

It's a really pretty colour, do you know which one it is and the petal dust it makes a beautiful rose ? 😊
thanks Rosie, very pretty. would you trim the bottoms?
Hi! Thank you for your video. How long do you let the petals dry before assembling the rose?
You are the best😍😍😍😍😍
Hi Rosie, thanks for the tutorial. I was just wondering if gumpaste flowers can be put on top of frosting, like buttercream and cream cheese. I had some bad experience of putting fondant over cream cheese frosting and the fondant melted. Also, is gumpaste is for the tropics with high humidity? Thank you and look forward to your reply.
beautiful roses.
+Oceanic Blues thank you! :)

Beautiful❤
Hi.. lovely flowers..can you please explain the difference between fondant, ready to roll icing and gum paste? Which one of them is eggless and vegetarian?
beautiful
Thanks Rosie ;)
Hi you make the most beautiful roses. I have never made roses before this will be my very first time. I watched your video over and over. I have one question after you are done making the roses do you cut the very bottom off to make flat. I was watching you cut with the pedal cutter were they all different sizes I didn’t see that it look like you were using the same one .I’m using gum paste. How many days do you let your roses dry before putting on your cakes. I’m make a baby shower cake and I was hoping to make these flowers I need them before Sunday September 2nd witch is in 2 weeks. Thanks.
supersin cox tesekkurler usda
I love all your cakes but have been looking for a video to show how to roses without wire. How do you fix yours to a cake, do you trim the bottom?
awesome, although I'm always amazed that some people are never happy based on the 56 that gave you a thumbs down. Thanks
Right
Is gum paste not fondant with CMC (egg white powder) mixed in? It works well for me using fondant with CMC in.
Very Beautiful n realistic 👌👌👌
Wow!!!Roses
awesome looking flowers and easy tutorial. But it never ceases to amaze me that you cant please everybody judging from the 5 unlike votes
Thank you Ian Douglas :) 5 is actually great, I have 100 dislikes on another video lol. I don't mind though, I just wish people would comment why they dislike it so I can improve on what I need to improve on.
They don't say cuz they couldn't do it any better. Just nasty, negative people out there. It was great. Thanks
So pretty! How do you attach them to the cakes?
Beautiful and very easy .
You could also show hoe u mixed colors for the benefit of beginners .
R u using water or glue to fix it ? Is it home made glue
water can be used or if you want a better stick you can use an egg white
👏👏show!
thank you
QUE TIPO DE PASTA USAN O COMO LA PREPARAN?

If i don't have shortening what else can I use
How long does it take the gum paste to dry?
They r perfect
trina karnes thank you !! x
wonderful!
thank you +Alexandra Dankloff :)
This has literally saved my life!! I just have one question lol. Does the size of the spoon need to be bigger for bigger petals? its just when I've done mine (i think I left them too long so weren't mailable at all!) they didn't sit nicely around the bud so not sure what I've done wrong?? xx
Hi +Lindsay Waters, for larger petals it is probably worth using large spoons to get a more natural curve. hmm it sounds like you may have left them sitting for a little too long like you said. How long you leave them is also dependant on the temperature in you room, sometimes fondant hardens faster in cold conditions :)
what cutter did you use for this?
Rosie help!!i tried to make roses but the gumpaste crackles and I couldn't work with it sticks, what can I do?do you think it's the quality of the gumpaste?
What kind of edible glue do you use to attach the petels??
are the cutters you use are all of thesame size?
Pl al give the tutorial to make orchid and carnation
i just started following you :) love your videos so far! can you tell me what brand the luster dust you use is?
thank you rummyb ! :) the gold dust I use is by Cake Art (that's the only brandish label I could find on the container. I got it from Susie Q (a store based in Keilor, Melbourne, Australia). But otherwise I normally just use Luster Dust in Pastel Gold
Thank you
what glue do you use?
Hiiii wat can I use instead of shoterning please,n love ur decorating tutorials...lots of love from india
какая вы молодец.
Could you please tell me what is the difference between gum paste, sugar paste and fondant? I'm so confused because one person said that fondant and sugar paste was the same thing just called a different name in the U.K. Is this not true? I'm watching a lot of videos to learn how to make these Rose's but I need to know what to buy in the U.S. that will work like yours does. Great video and beautiful roses. Well done girl.
What type of fondant ur using my fondant use to melt
Very nice and useful video, greetings from Croatia.
thank you so much Marijana :D x
They look amazing!!! And so realistic, at the beginning of your video I thought those roses were natural real flowers. ..🙊 Thank you for your tutorial, I need to ask you something, ... what color of dust do you recommend me for a purple and light purple roses?
Can I ask for the gumpaste recipe?
How to make gum paste its fondant are same?
Hi and thank you for sharing that video. Love the tutorial, will definitely be trying that. Does gumpaste set hard as this is what i am looking for? Thank you
Hi +chantoms1, thanks for your comment. Yes, gumpaste will set hard :) If you add in some tylose powder it will set hard even faster.
@@Rosiesdessertspot Thank you for your reply! But if you add tylose, won't the edges fray? Thanks in advance.💐
Lovely
So pretty! What r the ingredients in gumpaste? What other flowers can u make?
Hey!! Thank you ;) gumpaste has egg unfortunately. You can try your luck with orchid fondant (which you can find at coles) just make sure to use cornstarch / icing sugar to keep it from sticking. They are sooo much fun to make!
