  • Are you looking to create realistic gumpaste sugar roses to add onto your cakes? Recently I realised my original gumpaste sugar rose tutorial is almost 7 years old, so I thought it was about time I created a new, updated version for you.
Gumpaste roses are great in any colour and can be made in any size to fit the size of your cake. Find out step by step how to make a realistic looking gumpate rose to add onto your cakes. Gumpaste / sugar roses are perfect for any theme of cake, including birthday cakes, wedding cakes and baby shower cakes and add such a pretty classic look.
I'll also be showing you how to create rose leaves to go with your sugar roses.
I really hope you enjoy the tutorial and you'll be able to use it to make your own gumpaste roses. Thank you so much for watching and don't forget to subscribe for more cake decorating tutorials!

@@CakesbyLynz I live in an extremely humid country, and when I leave my gum paste models to dry out the day ahead it dries out nicely. But the next day it starts to get soften, shiny and sticky to touch. for which I started to add a bit of CMC powder. Is there any way I can prevent this issue without putting CMC powder?

Hi Sneha, As you can see in the tutorial I actually use a kitchen blow torch to heat up the wire and stick it into the flower bud. This means you can start working on the rose when the flower bud is still soft. If you wanted to use edible glue to attach the wire instead, then I would leave the flower buds over night to allow them to dry out and for the wire to become secure. Alternatively you can get polystyrene flower buds from some cake decorating shops.

Is gumpaste the same as fondant ?

No, gumpaste is a little different. With gumpaste or floral paste you are able to roll it a lot thinner than fondant without it ripping. This is perfect for making flowers. It also dries completely solid and holds it's shape.
