Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool made a seismic impact on culture. I would even say his version is even more canonical than the comics. And he did that with less movies than Reeves or Jackman.
You say that you wish you had a more convoluted story about getting to Ryan Reynolds, but honestly I freaking love that you guys just asked and he was like "f*ck yeah I'm in!"

Hooray! So glad this moved Ryan Reynolds is a natural marketer. He got more out of doing the Honest Trailer than you think, it massively boosted his brand as a genuinely funny guy etc. Whether that's why he did it only he knows but it wouldn't surprise me if he did just genuinely do it for fun.

the most telling thing about the directors commentary on the movie, is how they had no clue how much it was gonna blow up. To the point I would not mind another one 5 or 10 years time

Fun fact that I read and hope is true about Deadpool; I read that Fox and Marvel studios did a bit of a character license trade for this movie ( just like trading cards 😂) that Fox really wanted Negasonic Teenage Warhead in the movie but she belonged to Marvel Studios at the time. So they gave Marvel the license to use character of Ego the Living Planet in exchange for her and Marvel ended up making the trade. Again, don’t know if this is true but I did read it somewhere and thought that fact was hilarious and fun
Really hope you do a video on Unbreakable someday. It's literally my favorite film of all time and you're one of the very few people who seemed to love Glass (to be honest, way more than even I did).
I think Ryan R.Reynolds was born to personify Deadpool in movies. Having said that he’s an amazing actor, his film Burried (2010) is a testimony to his thespian talent.
I just realized today - quite out of the blue - that previous to his transformation, Wade Wilson never breaks the fourth wall. I'm thinking that his 'comic awareness' is an ability of Deadpool, not of Wade Wilson. I guess I'm just a bit slow.

Deadpool 2 was such a downgrade from this first one. I really don’t like that movie. Almost hate it. They really lost something when Miller didn’t return.
