When I got my first rog phone I was blown away with them amount of decent games available natively on Android. Friends are still confused to see me playing castlvainia symphony of the night on my phone
I feel like it's something that gets missed a lot. There is a lot of quality available on the Android platform. Unfortunately, there is a ton of junk on the Play Store that buries the good stuff.
Thanks a lot for the high quality videos ! One half of this video made me run over to the store to add games to my Wishlist , the other half made me smile when I saw I game I loved and enjoyed
Wow had no idea there was a Max Payne mobile! Will have to add that to the list. Space Marshals is a fantastic series. Have the first two on iOS, but I may pick up the trilogy pack for the Switch to always have them available without worrying they won't work on a future phone/tablet.
So glad that you were able to discover Max Payne mobile, it's a great port! Funny how I just mentioned my concerns with game preservation on Android in another comment. I agree though, it's a huge concern for me as I love to revisit games all the time!
Good video! Android games are often overlooked, it would be great to have a list of remakes of classic games also for android, prince of persia comes to mind, tomb raider etc.
Thank you for the continued support! I feel like there's so much to talk about on the Android side. It really is an overlooked feature of these devices.
There was actually a Prince of Persia Game for Android. It was a remake of an older title and its long gone delisted. You can still find it from some site
I installed the big 3 hoyo games(genshin, star rail and HI3), Knights of the old republic and Pascal's wager Really wish chaos rings franchise is still alive.
@@retrotechdad I subscribed and binging more of your videos. I like that you show the big price difference to the eShop version, too. It's so ridiculous that everyone does this.
Thank you so much for the support and sub! I hope you're enjoying the content! 💗🙏 I am definitely planning another Android video since they've been very popular and I think so many don't realize about the gems on the Play store.
Holy Heck! Thank you so much for taking a look at the games I mentioned. Not that im greedy or anything, but there are hundreds of other games available and I find them to be a perfect pair with the RP3. Also, this needs to be a recurring series Here are some of the recommendations: ICEY, Implosion: Never Lose Hope, One Punch Limited Edition(Usually $15, but goes on sale for $1 from time to time), Galaxy Genome, Door Kickers: Action Squad, Pew Pew Live, Sonic 1, 2 and CD, Reventure, Bubble Tale, Cat Bird All of these games have controller support apart from Cat Bird and One Punch
You're very welcome, thanks for throwing out the recommendations! I agree that there are so many games worth checking out over on Android. It's unfortunate that it gets such a bad image because of the junk that floods the Play Store.
Just subscribed. I'm completely new to Android thanks to the RP3, and I'm particularly interested in story-heavy JRPGs, WRPGs, or Strategy RPGs. I assume the Play Store has some stuff that would appeal to me, but I have no idea which ones are good for the RP3. Got any ideas?
Welcome to the world of Android and everything it offers! There's a TON of RPGs of all kinds on the platform. Square Enix has given mobile a lot of love with premium experiences (usually some of the most expensive on the Play store). Some of the more notable games (I haven't tested all of these yet on the RP3): WRPGs: 1. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. Titan Quest 3. The Banner Saga Series 4. Battle Chasers: Nightwar 5. Baldur's Gate 6. Titan Quest JRPGs: 1. Square Enix (look for the ones with an upfront price, they have lots of F2P junk as well) play.google.com/store/apps/dev?id=8026010256970589886 2. Evoland I and II 3. Kemco RPGs (particularly the ones that say premium/have an upfront cost) play.google.com/store/apps/dev?id=5728226595623103050 4. Monster Hunter Stories
Please Keep this up. I’m curious what games this thing can emulate more. Streets of rage 4. I heard slay the spire for some reason doesn’t run at all. I have no idea cos I uses an iPhone. Thought of grabbing an android handheld for the play store gaming. Hmmmm
Yes, Streets of Rage 4 works great! I covered it briefly in my in-depth video of the RP3. I actually daily drive an iPhone 12 mini but enjoy tinkering with Android and doing gaming on the Android based handhelds. BTW, Play Pass is a great way to get access to a lot of the games for $5 a month, it's similar to Apple Arcade. I do have plans for some more Android gaming content, there's a lot to explore!
@@retrotechdad one thing is that it couldn’t fully emulate PSP, close. Very close. I like the form factor and size. The other one I had in my sight is the upcoming Miyoo P60.

@@retrotechdad That's awesome! I juste tested it on my Android tablet and, indeed, wired controllers work now! (I had emailed them at the beginning of August, requesting that they add support for that, because it didn't work then.) Unfortuinately, it doesn't seem to prevent the screen from timing out, and I can't disable that on this device because I installed my work profile to be able to check my email and whatnot, and my employer requires that you have a password an 15 minute or less screen lock. I emailed them again today, so hopefully we'll see that fixed in a future update :)
Great video! My rp3+ came last week...& now a new SD card has just arrived so I will get all of my retro roms on there asap. Whilst waiting for the SD card I have put 11 android games on it...including Grimvalor & Dead Cells. I was sure I was able to use the d-pad, in game for both...but suddenly today seems like in game I can only use the left thumb stick in Dead Cells...but the d-pad works in the menu. Is it the same for you? I see now you are also using the left thumb stick in your video & maybe I am just misremembering? Would rather use dpad though.
Have spent ages trying all kinds of fiddles to no avail...I was so sure the d-pad was working in the game. Perhaps I am just wrong. Would be great to hear what is possible on your rp3.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! 🤗 I took a look again at my RP3 for you. It does seem that Dead Cells only supports the joystick in-game. It does work in menus, the game appears to be designed that way. If you take a look at the options under controller, you can see that there is an adjustment for the left joystick deadzone, so I am going to assume that is how it was designed. Grimvalor does support both for me in-game. It just automatically detects the gamepad. It's weird that it isn't working for you properly. 😢
@@retrotechdad ...very curious. In Dead Cells the dpad did work in the game, moving the character a few days ago...but now does not. Have tried writing to the developer...see if they have any idea. Yes, I saw the only adjustment was for L-stick dead zone.
