Thank you very much ❤️ What I use are split ring tweezers. They're designed specifically for opening split rings. Mine are from Beadsmith, but there's plenty of them on the internet.
I cannot tell the loops where my hook is supposed to go. I practiced 2 hours on slip stitch. Gave up. Found your single crochet 20 bead pattern and got thru 3 rows with much difficulty, and it still looks sloppy. I yarn over backwards compared to you. Learned to crochet at age 8. Help!
The fact that you yarn over backwards should have no effect. Without seeing your work, it's hard to say... But if I were you, I'd try it with thicker yarn and bigger beads. It'll give you a better idea of where to put the hook.
