It looks absolutely beautiful, but those are very thick slices of onion and leek. You did a great job roasting them, but I think it might be a bit much for me, even though I look forward to the first alliums of spring as well. I don’t know, it’s a lot.

Yeah, “live life” I love Andrew, but it’s important information. “Onions contain a toxic principle known as N-propyl disulfide. This compound causes a breakdown of red blood cells, leading to anemia in dogs. The toxin causes oxidative damage to your dog's red blood cells by attaching to the oxygen molecules in those cells.”

so cavalier with your onion peels.... lol that would drive me insane, I have to remove them from the cutting board asap...I even usually peel onions over the trash lol....i just hate getting a spec of onion peel in my food....how odd am I? Anyone else out there?
I’m with you! I thought I was the only weirdo with a distinct hatred of onion peels, so I’m gratified to have met you. It’s the little papery bits that stick to the onion that drive me crazy.

Yeah probably split and rinse because leeks are notoriously sandy but they wouldn't look as good in the tart.
