As salamu alaykum. Almost all of the dictionaries mentioned that سبلة (ج. سبال) is the same as the شارب (moustache). For example, Mukhtar as Sihah states: والسَبَلَةُ: الشاربُ، والجمع السبال "Sabalah: the moustache" Lisan al-Arab states, وسَبَلَةُ الرَّجُل: الدائرةُ الَّتِي فِي وسَط الشَّفَةِ العُلْيا، وَقِيلَ: السَّبَلة مَا عَلَى الشَّارِبِ مِنَ الشَّعَرِ، وَقِيلَ طَرَفه، وَقِيلَ هِيَ مُجْتَمَع الشاربَين، The circle in the middle of the upper lip, and it was said: the part of the hair on the mustache, and it was said its tip, and it was said that it is the area of the mustache. Other opinions ibn Manzur quotes state that it is part of the beard and even the entire which can't be the case for obvious reasons. Hence, I was wondering where did you get the area of the Sibal to be different from the moustache. This has obvious implications since you stated the area between under the lower lip and the chin is the sibal which can be trimmed.
I had a dream of Rasoolullah aleyhi wasallem. I saw him exactly as this brother is teaching. I wondered why I'm my dream he didn't have what the brother here describes as sibalan. But putting two and two together I.e my dream and this brothers teaching. He is 100% correct and confirms my dream as true.
The "style" and commentary by many for a while now has been to shave the mustache. But like mentioned in this video and quotes was to shorten the mustache. My understanding is shorten is not the same as shave. The 'soul patch" I was never really sure I would usually shorten it as mine tends to curl up towards the lip and not down and away mine is also very thin and close to the lip and doesn't extend down much. Good info and easy to understand, I will try to stick more closely to the teachings
JazakAllah khair! My soulpatch is actually a little out of control since it curls up towards my mouth, eating in public can be embarrassing at times :) im going to trim it just so it doesnt get in the way.
Sheikh Assim Al Hakim said it's not permissible to shave, ie, completely remove, one part of hair on the face while leaving other part growing. It's called Al Qaza if I remember correctly and is haram. So I believe trimming is the correct option rather than shaving the moustache.
Surely it should be the actions of a person that makes them a good or bad person. To control everything a person does and has to look like people from so many years ago is a show of one thing that can make others trust them when their character does not match. Don’t try to be someone , try to be better than others
Who said a beard makes you a good person? Its part of our religion and thats it. Yes, having the character of the Prophet Muhammad(SAW) is extremely important and to look like a Muslim and not act like one is something a lot of us need to work on, but you're arguing an argument that's not even there. Also, when you're trying to be like the best human ever, it's impossible to be better than him, so you try to be exactly like him

I have a question, what if we're not genetically gifted with long and majestic beard/ not able to grow beard enough to follow the sunnah? What is the best solution for us that can't grow a beard/if we grew it wouldn't look good?
The Sunnah is to let the beard grow no matter if it is full beard or not. Even if you have one hair but you let it grow and did not shave/cut then you have fulfilled the order of Rasūlullāh صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم
no, the messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to let the beard grow. and the only evidence of cutting is from the action of the Sahaba, of which some would take a fistful of the beard and cut whatever is beneath it. there is NO such evidence that you can shave anything less than a fistful just to make it look uniform. without the evidence one cannot do so. my sincere advice to you akhi is just to grow it, as you get older the beard will look more fuller and even out on it's own. you can also comb the beard hair, oil it, put relaxants in it etc.
