Instead of buying a new crop sensor camera, just buy a used full frame camera. You don’t need the newest camera out. I just bought a used Canon 5D mkIV for $800. I got a Sony A7R3 for $1200. People are constantly upgrading and selling their stuff. Nobody is going to know you took pictures, or shot your latest video, with a used camera, unless you tell them.
@@andresmaz I get all my used cameras locally on Craigslist, but I live in Austin Texas, which has a lot of people that make a lot of money, and are constantly upgrading. I have gotten even better deals on used lenses, from people who switch camera brands.
Im in the NYC area…b and h is a great camera store that carries used gear and they also ship but can be more expensive than facebook market place or offerup due to them baking in profit for themselves. Unique photo is a reputable store as well that also ships. I’d try locally first and use b&h or unique photo as backups.
All of my digital cameras for 15 years have been APS-C, and it hasn't negatively affected my photography career. It's only been an minor issue when clients asked for prints larger than 30x40.
Full frame cameras are ideal for wedding photography and product photography. I agree for RUclips videos, crop aps-c cameras are perfectly fine. Get decent lenses for crop sensor cameras like Sigma primes and the quality will be there! Decent lighting like adding LED to studio, or capturing in sunlight outdoors, keeps the images clean in crop cameras.
Very good points. It all depends on what you need and want from your camera. For the absolute best quality, full-frame is often the way to go. But if you need to save money and you're fine with the limitations of the crop sensor, there's no reason to get a full-frame.
FINALLY! Someone said it... thank you, Omar!! I feel like I've been searching for this answer for months. For YT and social media videos, you can crush it with an APS-C sensor and a Sigma lens. Or, as mentioned in the comments, a used FF camera.
I really wanted the FX3, but I couldn’t justify the price when I know I can swap lenses between my ZV-E10 & the FX30… so I got the FX30 & I’m loving it. I’m investing in good glass instead of just a camera body & I think it’s a wiser financial decision for most people.
@@AllThingsFilm1 and I feel like I can really GROW with this camera. I love run&gun style, but my ZV-E10 always produced shakey footage no matter what I tried. I slapped the 11mm on the FX30 using active stable shot, & it’s been AMAZING. And that’s with the automatic settings because I’m still getting a feel for it. Just got my ND filter for the 11mm, so I’m about to let loose & make all sorts of film errors. 🤣🤣
What lenses would you recommend for the FX30? primarily vlogging and using as a face camera at a desk. Was looking into the sigma 16mm 1.4 but without having used it yet hard to tell if that would meet needs for both use cases.
Really good points. Another thing to consider are the perspective you can achieve at any given distance. Typically lenses at the telephoto end have a compressing effect, whilst wider lenses do the reverse, which is where the old saying 'the camera adds 10 pounds' comes from. Outside this is less of an issue as you can just stand further back and have the same lens on, but indoors, when space is limited you may not be able to get enough back as that 50mm acts like a 75mm. As a pro wedding photographer getting the right perspective was often the difference between a flattering image and an unflattering one and why 'portrait lenses' are typically somewhere around 85mm.
Good explanation. I bought a couple of Canon cropped sensor cameras then started second guessing my purchases because I saw videos and read websites about how much better full frame cameras shoot photos and videos. I will start feeling better about it now.
I was considering getting a full frame for my three angle Podcast set up, this convinced me to just get a third 6400 with another sigma 30mm. Perfect timing on this release, because I was buying today 😅
Just sold my old A7ii and cheap FF lenses and invested in 3 sigma lenses (16mm, 56mm, and 18-50mm) for my ZV-E10 and am sooo happy I did it! I’m making it my goal to shoot purely APS-C this year (and maybe even beyond)!
APC-C sensors are pretty much identical in size to the film plane of a super 35 cinema film camera, ie, the cameras that have been used to shoot the vast majority of hit movies over the last several decades. "Full frame" DSLR cameras actually represent an oversized sensor in terms of film making. There are plenty of mega expensive cinema lenses that don't even cover film plane of a "full frame" sensor and you get port-holing and/or massive vignetteing.
I love my (slightly elderly) full frame camera for sports photography. My photos improved by leaps and bounds the day I started using that camera with the same lenses as before. And, when I replace it, I'm no longer convinced I need a full frame camera. This video made a good argument as to why: the ability to buy another camera or even another lens or two at the same cost. RUclips gets a small camera and an elderly camcorder (used for shots of my desk). I actually started using the small camera as a walk around camera because it actually took good photos unless I was trying to truly compose something great. On video, I don't think the difference is visible, especially since my software can't handle 4K video.
Great advice, I would also add you don’t need to buy new. Last 5 years the technology advances really slowed down and an ‘old’ camera is comparable to a new one, especially if people just shoot on auto.
*LOVE My APS-C cameras. Trading in my a6400 for the FX30 which is Still a APS-C camera which means I can use my existing Lens for this and I'm looking forward to getting it*
Thanks for the info... wouldn't a lens adapter with speedboost help get the crop sensor closer to full framed sensors? Not quite there, but it would be a decent compromise and allow the person to focus on buying RF lenses for full frame cameras... new to this, so feel free to correct me.

Their are so many different things to consider when it comes to video on any camera bodies beside the sensor size, this also goes for photography. Not all sensors of the same format are created equal. Some cameras are more video centric than others regardless of sensor size. Ok please let the viewers know that a 35mm sensor IS NOT a full frame sensor. As of today Jan 21, 2023 only the film industry has full frame sensors. A full frame sensor is that bigger than 8x10 (that’s roughly the size of an X-ray negative plate) and not all full frame sensors (bigger than 8x10 are not made the same! All others ARE “cropped” (not really) from the film industry full frames. Now every sensor has it uses that’s why the super 35 (24mm) sensor applies so well on video and many other things. Cameras with 24mm sensors usually come with tons of features we seldomly see on their 35mm counterparts. Today I shoot Canham 8x10 (film), Leica 35mm digital, and Fuji 24mm digital. I had an Olympus but my daughter took it from me (lol). Every sensor size has it uses and if you don’t know this fact you’ll be struggling all your life because if not accepting the compromises and adapt to them. That’s the magic of photography. No, as today 35mm sensors are no better in low light than 24mm sensors in low light. That might have been the case 30 years ago. But today? Heck no! People keep repeating what they hear from old guard photographers that are afraid of technology changes!
" I hate to say it but I will because it will get me views. " People, as far as functionality, the full frame is SUPERIOR to a crop sensor. Anyone selling you it's just a matter of taste is selling you nonsense. And no it's not just because you can printing a larger printer or blow it up more. You are losing a huge part of the edges of your image.
Please I’ve made over 200K with my full frame camera, dont listen to these people if you’re a real photographer or Videographer furthermore the NIKON Z30 shits on Sony for small content creators
@@v_r_ they never realize that, even on a youtube content creator's channel about the differences of each camera and its usage, they don't get it still

Full frame was a stills thing, movies were made in s35, because you don't need background so blurry in story telling, and the lighting is controlled in movie making so low light is not as important. In stills, the resolution was steadily going up from 1mp to 100mp, and it does make a difference in resolution (landscape), dynamic range, low light performance and blurry background in portraits.
Stills films cameras load the film horizontally, Cinema film cameras load the film vertically, hence the different sizes of the frame.

I agree. When I started doing professional work I need a full sensor.
Hello
No, as today 35mm sensors are no better in low light than 24mm sensors in low light. That might have been the case 30 years ago. But today? Heck no! People keep repeating what they hear from old guard photographers that are afraid of technology changes!
Best ✌🏼😁

" I hate to say it but I will because it will get me views. " People, as far as functionality, the full frame is SUPERIOR to a crop sensor. Anyone selling you it's just a matter of taste is selling you nonsense. And no it's not just because you can printing a larger printer or blow it up more. You are losing a huge part of the edges of your image.
Lets go
