Who’s ready for a Toyota hot hatch drag race! We’ve got the all-new Toyota GR Yaris going up against its big brother, the Yaris GRMN.
Now we all know how popular the GR Yaris is, given that it was crowned carwow Car of the Year 2020! The question is, does it have what it takes to bring down the older Yaris GRMN?
Well on paper it certainly looks like it’ll be a walkover. With a 1.6-litre turbo 3 cylinder engine, the GR can put down 261hp and 360Nm, while it also comes with AWD. As for the the Yaris GRMN? Well it’s got a 1.8-litre supercharged 4 cylinder engine, but it can only put down 212hp & 250Nm. Not only that, but it's also only comes with FWD!
However, all’s not lost for the GRMN - it weighs in at just 1,135kg, compared to the GR Yaris’s 1,280kg! Will the weight difference be enough to power the older Yaris to victory? You’ll have to keep watching to find out!

They took the race in England so you can't blame the weather also cuz the sun never set in British.
The GRMN spins its wheels very easily in damp conditions, the GR had an obvious advantage.

From their 20valves RXi's to their AE86 , numerous TRD editions , 1JZ's , 2JZ's , big body straight 6 CRESIDAS , old school hatchbacks etc.
They got a lot of bangers 🔥. I'm a car lover , whether or not it's from my preferred brand , I can't help but respect their contributions to the 4 wheeled experience 💯

I want to see each drag race like this to have a base model car included, so we can see just how much better the top spec one is
that's a great idea for many models which would look alike from the base model to the top model in order to compare correctly.
however on the 2021 yaris gr it's kind of biased since the gr has literally everything different (even the chassis is unique): the box, the engine, the materials, it only shares the the main lower body and the front axle with the normal yaris i think

I really like the GR Yaris, but I prefer my GRMN. A supercharged, excentric and pretty obscure little rocket. Even though it might be a bit slower, it is such a brutal little car.

Very functional and enthusiasts will def acknowledge it. Not sure if you have seen the stock PP Veloster N Korean version? Sick 19s, Alcon BBK, Recaros, aggressive rear diffuser, and front splitters, and a lot more. That's the sickest hot hatch right now IMO

Wow, I never heard a 4-cylinder sound so great. This was just uninterrupted aggressive VROOOOOOM! Unlike the typical vacuum with pops and bangs in the background. Wonder how gazoo did that?

@@tracktimevideos5164 well I've got a mk7 golf r and it's an APR stage 2 full bolt ons so I'm fairly into the turbo4 scene. And I absolutely agree, WRX and STIs are exclusive when it comes to sound and that boxer engine. I love the way they sound but they're an exception to the rule. But their sound is more like a rumble, I mean I can tell if it's a Subaru from a mile away just from that distinct engine and exhaust note. But this particular car had a uninterrupted non-rumbling vroom sound. And there was no supercharger whine like on my buddies insane gen 2 CTS-V that almost drowns out the entire engine. Sounds awesome though. Anyway it's not a big deal, it's just that these days, losing all our NA blocks for twin turbo v8s that sound like air and Burbles, it was just nice to hear that exhaust note come from a turbo 4. But we'll always have the B7 RS4, w204 c63, Shelby GT350, 911 GT3, original 458, E46 m3, my ap1 Honda S2000 (between 6- 9k RPM LOL).

The GRMN luckily was released right before the new emission regulation, so it does sounded a lot more fruity. (The GR Yaris actually produces pretty fruity sounds as well after changing it to aftermarket exhaust)
