Exploding Cheese Actually, Skullgirls has A LOT of references to other things, JoJo especially. In fact, there's a reference to MLP, one of Robo Fortune's skins is called RD-005, which is a Rainbow Dash color scheme.

You can tell how much Josh loves Kingdom Hearts by how much fun he is CLEARLY having getting rightfully pissed off at Demyx XD
Favorite music fighter for me is Mic Sounders XIII from GaoGaiGar. A rock n' roll robot developed by NASA (That's how it went in the show) to combat against alien robotic parasites (Zonders) with his guitar and 4 discs he pops into his chest. These discs can be used to revive his team, send microwave attacks, and destroy almost anything by targeting specific elements that can be affected by a certain frequency. Craziest thing he's done was when he lost his guitar and discs one time, he was still able to fight by using his surroundings as instruments, playing an awesome guitar riff with the cables of a suspension bridge to destroy a blimp. I kid you not

to be honest its great to see another countdown counting more musician fighter since the one from greenscorpion specially with some newand old face specially how the position varied and the qualification of what a musician fighter is. I will hope for eternity to see a colab countdown between these 2, even tho they are completly different in how they analyze in their coundowns.

You are incredibly underappreciated, you know. You're one of the most consistently funny guys out there, and you only increase in humor and quality with every episode.
incredibly solid list. ive torn over a ton of stuff to find characters like this in tabletop as well, and the list of the characters who specifically use their music as a weapon itself is pretty dang small. more of those would be amazing to see.
I'm...surprised you added Demyx.
I know that A: It's a flash game(series) and B: It's been discontinued, but can we please count Elwyen from MARDEK? She's amazing, her attacks involving playing her harp(or hitting people with it if that fails). Sure you've got your standard stat buffs, But she can also directly inflict harm onto enemies with her songs by playing Dirges, or even MORE harm on the undead by playing them a Requiem. Ofcourse, there's also a healing song, Ballad of life, but Ballad of Ballance is really ridiculous. Both parties share all damage they receive. And until you tell her to do something else, she just keeps playing. And again. If all else fails. Beat them over the head with a harp. You'd be surprised how effective it is.
The fact that Zed is voiced by Jimmy Urine from Mindless Self Indulgence and one of the preorder bonus costumes for Juliet was based on an MSI thing just made Lollipop Chainsaw even more of one of my favorite games ever. Finished it in one sitting.
I feel the same about Demyx. He is one of the most frustrating bosses in KH2. And I've played it like 20 times and every time I fight him I THROW MY CONTROLLER ON THE FLOOR ABOUT 5 TIMES!!

11:36 that reminds me of the groov-a-tron on ratchet and clank, a disco ball you throw like a grenade, and near it when it starts playing will dance uncontrollably for 5 seconds, it's such a powerful weapean you are limited to how many you can hold at a time less then any other weapon in the series.
My musician fighter is Wolfgang from the Skylanders series. Why? Because EVERYTHING about him is so freaking creative!
First of all, his name: Wolfgang. As in Wolfgang Mozart? And he is a werewolf? GENIUS!!
Secondly, his story: as a human, he was set to marry a princess and decided to perform for the ceremony thinking everyone would love it. However, he accidentally discovered the note of pain and nobody loved it, driving him crazy and turning him into a werewolf (video game/Skylander logic - don't question it). Now unwanted and unloved, he turned to crime and was brought into the Doom Raider gang by the Golden Queen.
And that's WITHOUT mentioning his gameplay!
In Trap Team, he can use his bone harp to play musical notes that deal damage or simply swing it like an axe! In Imaginators, it's been modified to work like a bow and shoot arrows; he can still summon amps that damage enemies that come within range of them, and as for one of 2 piece-de-resistants, he can summon a stage that explodes after a bit and even crowd surf on skeletal hands!
Oh, and he has a rock star personality. Just saying...
I'm glad to see Smite characters on lists like these! I hope to see more of them in the future.

I was so scared that Josh hadn't heard of Brutal Legend. That game INTRODUCED me to metal. Most of the metal songs on my iTunes I first heard from that game. In multiplayer, and usually picked Doviculus and the Tainted Coil.

Fun fact, there's actually a scientific connection between Demyx being the water-guy and him having a sound-based weapon. It's actually possible to manipulate and even levitate water via extremely powerful and focused sound waves. Water levitated in this manner takes a spherical shape, and if removes from the sound barrier containing them these water spheres tend to explode violently (kinda like his water sphere barrage attack).

Wolfgang from Skylanders was always one of my favorites. Only wish he had some more music-based attacks, both from playing as him and from his boss fight.
honorable mention: Rocketbilly Redcadillac or billy for short (yes that is his name) from gungrave:overdose. he is a ghost that haunts an electric guitar, he uses it as a weapon to fire streams and shockwaves of electricity at his enemies.

I mean, dude made himself immortal, caused a zombie uprising, and put several humans under his music-based thralldom, all with a magic lute. He's kind of amazing.
This video makes me think about bards in video games, how they have yet to be done well, and still feel powerful in its own right. But Jimmy was wonderfully done.

I like the Demigod of Rock from "Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock" who has all the powers of all of the other characters and who you take control of to fight a giant robot by playing a Megadeth song with a double-bladed axe guitar.
I knew Eddie would be on here! Brutal Legend is a love letter to all things metal, and I would have been shocked beyond belief if it didn't make at least the top 3. I'm a little surprised that you picked Cai Wenji over Zhenji, but I guess she does have greater range than Mrs. Cao Pi. Still, always thrilled to see Dynasty (or Samurai, for that matter) Warriors mentioned on a Top 10 list.
(And while Cai Wenji is pretty cool, check out Motochika Chosokabe in SW. Glam-rock shamisen player completely annihilates pretty harpist lady any day).
One person I was surprised to NOT see was I-No from the Guilty Gear franchise. Sure, she whacks people with her guitar, but she still plays it in battle. Plus, anybody who has played against her in X2 knows the sheer power of her Megalomania super attack. When you've had heart-shaped music blocks raping your character's figurative ass, it's hard to forget the musical witch responsible for it.
6:35 - Figured who this one was the moment I saw your eye-twitch. Only one cheap-ass nobody inspires _that_ kind of rage and could fit on this list.
I somehow expected Demyx when I saw the title. Then I heard who's allowed on the list and who isn't, and I thought "Oh, so he's not on the list". Then he was. I like him.
Also, didn't you use "The 13th Dilemma"? Because it says "The 13th Struggle" in the credits, but I heard "Dilemma".

Recently, I discovered one musician fighter that became one of my favorites of all time. I think not many people know her, but if you combine her story throughout the 3 games she's in and her battle style, you'll see that she at least deserves to be in the top 3 of this lists: from the Megaman Starforce series, I present Sonia Strumm/Hibiki Misora, and her EM Wave form Harp Note.

Pretty different point of view compared to Green Scorpion's, but the entries in here are good picks. I personally woulda put Wolfgang from Skylanders series in here. His weapon of choice: a bone harp that he can use to play a painful tone, shoot magical arrows when used like a bow and can be used as a sharp melee weapon. Not only that but he also can attack with knee sliding that ends with a loud explosion, summon speakers or an entire stage from the ground, those speakers can also fire magic arrows if the upgrade path is selected for that move and he can also summon skeletal arms for crowd surfing. When he traveled in 10 000 years away in the future, he built the Big Bad Woofer: a giant flying subwoofer fortress that can destroy everything around it with it's sounds. Even his vehicle in Superchargers, Sub Woofer has music based weaponry. His Netflix incarnation in Skylanders Academy may only have the painful tunes and mind control in his bone harp, but he's voiced by James Hetfield in that show.
Fun video!! I have a suggestion for the list: The Prismriver Sisters, from "Touhou 7: Perfect Cherry Blossom". They meet all the qualifications! Also as a Vocaloid fan, I don't appreciate the Miku Hatsune insult, but I won't bash you for it.

Timothy Flick And that's all fine and dandy, but you have to either strongly imply this by making the joke question ridiculous, nonsensical, or obviously in contrast to how you actually think (earlier I took a shot at motion controls by stating they're way better than buttons and explaining why by listing some of the common criticisms against it as if they were compliments, ending with an angry face (ProJaredPlays, Fast RMX)). In RUclips comments (and Monster Hunter), this is something I do all the time and pretty much sums up my style of humor.
That or have an outright written disclaimer. but that's not as fun. ;)

I was actually expecting to see Frederic Chopin from Eternal Sonata on this list... until I realized that the most he does with music is attack with a baton. And... maybe Applaudissement Sonique, which he doesn't use when you're controlling him. Quite surprisingly, considering Frederic Chopin was a pianist and the game itself centers so heavily around music.
