Yeah, EA is literally selling DLCs for their DLCs. Hear about the "My First Pets Stuff" pack for Sims? It came out just after "Pets" did, and was only literally a few items and hamsters. It was cut content that they sold separate and you NEED pets to use the stuff in the first place.
well, part of the problem is how there are plenty of "Whales" that play FIFA. i mean, one guy was shocked to learn that he dropped somewhere around 15k over 2 years into FIFA. sadly, the trend will most likely keep going.
It'll go until the people they rely on for income find other things to spend their money on. Or until Lootbox restrictions get much more strict. Or any number of things that will cut into EA's profits. And the momentum IS there. Their antics got the ball rolling regarding governments looking into this stuff.
sadly as long as EA have the right to make madden, NFL Fifa ( a franchise which makes me embarrassed to be british) and even WWE they will continue to make bank
I was working as an assistant at the Sunday School at my church and as an ice breaker, we played a game where one kid would stand up, say something like “stand up if you have a dog” and everyone who had a dog would stand up and switch seats with someone else who was standing. When it was his turn, this 11 year old kid said “Stand up if your favorite game is ‘No Mans Sky’,” and I just sat there awkwardly because of how little he knew... Needless to say nobody else stood up.
I thought it was hilarious that something so borked happened because of a misspelling of code that a FAN found and once fixed, it actually worked. Sure, the rest of the game is still kind of boring, but hey! Just shows that fans are willing to pay more attention than the DEVS of the GAME.
I don't know about you, but... If they found a code that accidentally makes the aliens act goofy, couldn't they reuse that code for a game with a more light-hearted tone? It might actually be pretty funny.... 😉
I did the math. With the upcoming Get Famous expansion pack releasing in a few weeks, the Sims 4's DLC alone has reached $500, not even including the $40 price tag of the base game. I get that a game like the Sims would get boring after a while without anything to liven it up but like... really? Admittedly, the only things I've paid full price for were Vampires, Seasons, and two of the stuff packs since I got really lucky in choosing to pick up the game during the Infinite Gaming sale in June but this is honestly infuriating. 'Welcome to the Sims series! Here, HAVE SOME DLC!'
@@freyasmixtape yeah, no kidding. I stopped playing the games years ago, but whenever I pick it up, I sail the high seas. I'm not giving them anymore money for a broken game.
@@quanticflowers Yeah it's definitely not worth the money. What they charge for a couple of hours of gameplay is as much, if not more, as a brand new game costs and without nearly as much content. There are two other life sims coming out soon that I will definitely be checking out.
I don't see the problem.Money is super plentiful and you don't need loot boxes. I haven't spent a dime and I still have fun and never feel like I'm weaker than everyone else
I now wonder What Joshscorcher's thoughts are towards No Mans Sky now. There is now a video from Internet Historian that goes into detail on the history of that game and everything around it which does shine a new light I don't think many were aware.
323starlight Well considering the character slots aren't "used" for anything other than an extra base (End game stuff); Not much to really go on. Its still playable now, and it doesnt lock content, weapons, and gears behind a paywall. Even if you needed an extra character slot for completing the story again, there's CHAPTER SELECT which was added a few months before. So yeah, compare that to everyone else on the list.
Matthew Bane Emphasis on games. Seriously though, their handling of production with the Amiibos and the NES Classic when they originally launched was...incompetent, to put it at best.
2:50 I haven't bought any DLC for the game and I can play perfectly fine with people who have, I just cannot use those fighters, but the stages are available in For Glory, so that point is factually incorrect, there's no entry fee for the online.

For number 5, EA did not develop or publish the original Battlefronts. They were developed by Pandemic, and published by LucasArts. The newer games were never sold as "remakes," but "reboots" in the vein of Tomb Raider. The original Battlefront also did not come with a story-based campaign, but simply strung together different maps with short movie clips and a brief voiceover. The second game was received *better* than the first, since it actually had a good campaign, and expanded on the Galactic Conquest mode, a standout in the originals that never made it to the reboots. The only thing you got right was the reboots were poorly received for their shady monetization schemes, but they eventually rectified this by giving away the season pass for the first game free of charge, and completely revamping the progression system in the second game. Even to this day, though, there is still controversy in the slow, seemingly anemic DLC schedule for Battlefront II. It's okay if you haven't played these games, Josh, but please do better research.
I always thought that it was kinda unjustified that Battlefront II was received better than Battlefront, because the original had much tighter design in general and superior map design in particular, and although the sequel added a bunch of neat stuff, it always felt to me like it suffered from feature bloat.
I appreciate big youtubers getting constructive criticism so I'm not trying to white knight, but this is really nit picky stuff. Criticizing him for mistaking remake and reboot? What are you, MangaKamen? I mean the others are honest mistakes and I question how much those matter in the grand scheme of things. I guess confusing companies is a pretty big one as it changes people's perspectives on things.
The issue is he got nearly every fact about the games wrong, because he didn't do his research. Whether these were gigantic or tiny facts, nearly all of them were incorrect.
I have fond memories of both. Battlefront 1, to me, had slightly tighter controls, and those excellent Bespin maps; but Battlefront 2 had everything else right. I prefer the sequel, personally.
ladyaceina With Sm4sh’s DLC, I only really got the characters since I didn’t really think the stages and Mii costumes were worth spending money on, save for when I had a little extra money and got Samus’s costume, Majora’s Mask and Dunban’s costume. Though I’m glad Ultimate’s including all of Sm4sh’s DLC from the get go (sans the Mii costumes, since we haven no confirmation whether they’re returning or not.)
...a lot that should have been in the original game. No single game should cost that much, if the dlc is that expensive it better be like Borderlands and basically add a sequel proportionate to each DLC's price.
Smart Alec The thing is that the DLC wasn’t planned until *after* the game was released. So there’s no way that it could’ve been in the game to begin with unless they delayed it for about a year or two. Granted, it shouldn’t have been as pricey as it was, but still.
Thought you were gonna talk about Shadows of Valentia when you started talking about Nintendo. Sure, Smash 4 is pricier, but SoV was so much more blatant. $45 Season Pass on a $40 game that was announced a few weeks BEFORE the game came to the West.
GoldenCyclone4 The DLC for that game was *WAY* too overpriced, even for FE standards. I only got the DLC dungeons and didn’t bother wasting my money on anything else.
The No Man's Sky entry is pretty hilarious in hindsight now that the game is actually worth the hype and everything. But man, was it a SUPER rough start The redemption arc was pretty sweet
*psssst* thanks what bugs are, often. typos in code. And in this case, a typo in an ini file. People talk like it was so easy to find, but even with that it took years for someone to notice. And even with fixed xeno AI, the game is conceptually shit on more fundamental levels anyway. It is just a bad game. The ini flaw just made it funny. I am sure there is a QA team that drank themselves to death trying to get that flaw taken seriously. If you ever want to lose faith in game development, work in qa, where your job is to make sure things work, but if you say something doesn’t, everyone treats you like shit because their code is immaculate. Never again.
While the typo in the code didn't help, the game itself suffered for far more reasons than that. The AI on the aliens still isn't particularly impressive, even with the code having been corrected. The issues with the game are too numerous for a single youtube post.
Why couldn't #1 be *Gearbox* in general? Let's not forget that *Aliens Colonial Marines* isn't the ONLY game they hyped up only to not deliver. Look up *Duke Nukem Forever* and *We Happy Few.*
Because of Aliens Colonial Marines, Bull-shots are completely legal no matter how deceiving . They botched the Halo 1 PC port; Now even the MMC release has the coding bugs of broken effects and lighting; bumpmapping only shows on flashlights. Bulletstorm's entire re-release being priced as a full game, "Justification" being a shoe-horned Duke Nukem (seriously, the original game was cheaper). The treatment of the Duke franchise; removal of all previous games and ports (even the DOS version FFS) leaving only the garbage of DNF and Duke 20th. Speaking of Duke 20th, it's a botched mess as well featuring mouse negative acceleration and a less optimized poly renderer found in EDuke32. BL3 will contain Microtransactions, Takes the Epic (timed) Exclusive deal JUST for the money. Speaking of Borderlands; BL2 GoTY doesn't contain all of the DLC, You'll have to buy the "Handsome Collection" which contains the pre-sequel... which should have been DLC, but is instead sold as a full-priced game. Battleborn. We Happy Few triple price to 1.0, Now Early Access titles tend to follow this trend. I've probably missed like 50.
Remember when, instead of paying for more characters in a fighting game, you unlocked them by playing the game? I miss that. It gave you a sense of progression and a reason to keep playing and unlock everyone. These days, your roster depends entirely on how much DLC you can afford and the only rewards you get for playing through the arcade mode/story are cutscenes and maybe an achievement/trophy.
3:52 I think you missed some examples. It should be: They have Street Fighter, Street Fighter 2, Megaman, Street Fighter 2, Resident Evil, Street Fighter 2, Devil May Cry, did I mention Street Fighter 2 yet?
true. though i feel any of the honorable mentions were bigger scams then Smash 4's DLC. Like Evolve, Metal Gear Survive, or Final Fantasy All The Bravest
Crono Sapien and hell when you look at other fighting games, Smash Wii-U/3DS did the same as most when it came to DLC, like Mortal Kombat 9 and X, Injustice 1 and 2, Tekken and Street Fighter. It's really nothing new. DLC for fighting games, (outside of MVC Infinite) usually give around the same amount of content via DLC, and are usually around the same pricing.
Ugh I hate admitting this, but I was soooooo hype for Colonial Marines when it was being teased. I've never been more hype for a game in my life. I've never been more disappointed in a game in my life. Well except for when Silent Hills got cancelled. Why do all the great horror games end up being disappointments.
Ok to be honest. Sean Murray isn't a salesman or an Extrovert, his very nervous in the interviews. He publicly said that being at E3 for the first time was his most terrifying moment in his life. AND HE WORKED FOR EA!!! That says a lot.
I hate that thumbnail image. Mostly because the angle of the paper the "EA demon" is holding is not aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It's turned way to much, resulting in the viewer having to put in a bit more effort to make out that the demon is holding a piece of paper. There's a rule fighting games use called the "45 degree rule", where the character's bodies are turned around 45 degrees towards the camera to give a better visual representation. Technically it doesn't have to just be the paper, both of the characters could have also been turned 45 degrees towards the camera to make this shot look better. Not only is it a slight chore to identify that sliver onscreen as a contract, it misses the golden opportunity to write something clever on the paper for this casual gamer to sign. It would have been funny and satirical to see it say "Good characters and abilities Contract" or something akin to that. I hope this message makes it to the artist.
Come now. Fire emblem fates people complain but they are there own stories and games. For better or for worse...... hell they give you discounts if you buy the “dlc” other paths
but here the thing, one of the dlc expand the out of nowhere main villian and explain the the awakening characters being there. combined that with the not-so-good story and a localization that was hated(over-hated if you ask me) and it feel like nintendo was doing a insult to injury
Polandgod 75 okay yes but I’m 90% sure the point was about the three games not the dlc. Which is what story dlc does in general when done right. Expand on it
To be fair, Fire Emblem Fates was a good game, especially gameplay wise, the characters were well made but needed some polish on their support conversations (Especially since Saizo and Beruka say NOTHING to each other for their friggin C-Rank Support!), the only problem was the story for Birthright and Conquest (I still get PTSD from friggin Fallen Takumi in Conquest AND Heroes for crying out loud) as if you choose Conquest, you lose Ryoma and Takumi as well as their retainers, same with Birthright where you lose Xander and Elise along with their retainers as well and Flora burns herself because Garon is an jerk. Revelations is the game's true story and while I feel like buying both games was a rather JERKISH move by Nintendo, it still makes up for it by giving you the satisfaction of saving both Kingdoms, establishing peace, and giving you a well worth ending.
Yeah, 80$ for a complete story Imagine in FE4, you’re done the end of Sigurd campaign, and wanna play Seliph’s campaign??? More money please! Imagine in FE8, you’re done Lyn’s campaign, wanna play Eliwood and Hector’s campaign??? More money please! That’s Fire Emblem Fates for ya
6:25 Holy fuck I nearly shit myself, I can't believe how scary that monster in the bottom left corner is. The Dungeon Keeper looking nice tho, glad he's not anywhere near as pants-shitting.
Ugh...this makes me miss the time when you could actually buy a game in its entirety without the pressure to buy DLC...or log into the internet, for that matter.
You don't need all the Smash Bros characters to play online. I only bought a couple of them, and play just fine, against characters I didn't buy. I can't play as them, but I don't need to. Also, EA didn't make the original Battlefront games. They were made by Pandemic Studios. The lack of research in this video is shocking.
Yes but i would say that the end was really bad At least it ended... now only if zx, legends and x receive the same treatment I am still wating to vollnut return to earth, tomas try to make megaman the ultimate race and wily to return
I'm sorry was there a honorable mentions lightning round? I got distracted by the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate theme that was playing and I kinda just zoned out thinking about how badly I want that game... .....is it December yet?
I thank you for highlighting Fire Emblem Fates here, even if as just an honorable mention. I will never understand why they did that. Then again, as bad as Smash 4's DLC total is, it's not the first time they charged more for all the DLC than the base game, as Awakening's DLC was in total over $50 at minimum. Unlike Smash or Fates, none of it was really mandatory, and the maps that got you substantial extra characters(As in ones that actually had Supports) were free of any charge. Ah, Aliens Colonial Marines. Such a classic story of how not to make a game. Didn't Gearbox funnel that game's budget into Borderlands 2 or something like that? If so, they lucked out when people loved that game. Surprised BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle wasn't even an honorable mention. Though not as much of a scam as the other examples, they locked off half the roster, several of whom were essential characters for their franchises, leaving the base roster feeling largely incomplete as a result, and announced this fact a whole 5 months before the game was set to launch. It's kind of a miracle that the game was successful enough to warrant a Season 2.
With FE: Fates they did it because Intelligent Systems thought that if Gamefreak (Pokémon) and Level 5 (Inazuma Eleven 2 onwards) could get away with it, they could as well. Seems that they didn't. About BBTAG, that's more bad PR, and i mean MVC:Infinite levels of bad PR, than anything else. At least we got Yang and Blake for free as compensation and the first two batches were free for one or two weeks. And at least the packs only cost 4.99 $ per 3 characters, which is better than paying 7.99$ for one. At least the Deluxe Edition is fairly priced even with the new DLC announced. And the fact that the game reuses sprites for 90% of the cast affects even if the game was full (And can someone explain me why Marvel vs Capcom 2, a game which is basically a MUGEN can get away with it?).
Well, last I checked, Fates actually sold very well and was the game that cemented Fire Emblem as one of Nintendo's bigger franchises instead of 'that niche strategy RPG'. Even so, when Pokémon does the multiple versions thing, at least the minor differences made it so you never felt like you HAD to buy the other version. You still played the same game as those who bought the version you didn't. And I suppose you're right about BBCTB being more about PR than the actual monetary situation, although given Blake and Yang were the only ones that required a whole new sprite sheet and THEY'RE the ones you get for free always struck me as odd. Then again, $5 for 3 characters IS a better deal than... every other Fighting game DLC character ever. And I guess Marvel 2 gets away with it primarily because of nostalgia, and it certainly wasn't the first or last time(Morrigan was playable in CvS2 and STILL rocked her sprite from her debut game, so she stood out like a sore thumb).
I don't really think that Fire Emblem Fates a scam, considering that: 1. The stories of each game begin and end in the same path and are fully contained, so you don't need Birthright to understand the story of Conquest etc 2. Each game has massive gameplay, character and story differences from the other and aren't just minimal differences like with Pokemon's separate verisons. (And to talk about a scam, re-releasing the same game twice after just a year with small additions like Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon was ridiculous) 3. You get a massive discount on the opposite path game after buying the first, and Revelations is only $20. Adding all that up it's a $80 game, pretty much the price of any modern game plus its season pass or expansion DLC. 4. Each game has about the same amount of content as Awakening meaning you still get a fuck load of content for your money. It's not a very good system and they should have made more copies of the Special Edition, but it's not a scam.
L33TF0X I’d call it more so misleading marketing than anything else. Nintendo made it made it out to be that that you could choose your own narrative (whether to decide to side with Nohr or Hoshido), when in reality you could only choose which path you go through depending on which version of the game you purchased, that being Conquest or Birthright. Which means you’ll have to do research in order to decide whether or not you’d rather side with Nohr or Hoshido, which’s entirely detrimental for those that go into the game blind. Though I wouldn’t call Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon a scam either. Lazy, yes, a cash-grab, also yes, but they made it clear that it was just an expanded version of Sun/Moon that takes place in an alternate universe rather than a brand new game.
L33TF0X I wouldn't go so far as to call FE Fates a scam either, but the way the story from both base versions obscured parts of the story seemed pretty damn shady to me, and that's coming from someone who still fully enjoyed it. I feel like it was never meant to be broken up into 3 different stories and was meant to be one singular narrative that was very long. Largely because with both Conquest and Birthrights, there ARE in fact loose plot threads that are flat out ignored by the two stories. In Conquest, Azura pretty much tells you that Garon is corrupted and is under the influence Anankos, as well as a bit about the destroyed kingdom of Valla, but then the game ends without any confrontation or closure with Anankos, as well as Azura's complete disappearance with no explanation. Then in Birthrights, these are flipped and Anankos isn't mentioned even once outside of you seeing Garon worshipping him during the prologue, and thus Garon's corruption by Anankos is never revealed, but you do learn that if Azura over-uses the power of her song, she will literally fade from existence which then happens to her after she uses her song to help you defeat Garon. Then in Revelations, a few more less important, but still relevant plot-points are revealed that absolutely are not in either base version, such as Anankos being the dragon that's worshipped by both Hoshido and Nohr, as well as Azura being the last surviving member of the Vallite royal family. Then there's the DLC that links Fates to Awakening containing even more hidden plot points, and the whole thing gets murkier. As I said before, I feel like Fates was originally meant to be one story that was meant to be much larger and here's how I think it was meant to go: It likely would've started exactly the same, but then at the point where Corrin "chooses" which path to take, you originally would've been forced to return to Nohr, partly because I believe Corrin would rather fight to change Nohr from within rather than fight wage war against it directly since it's the only home they really had until now, and also because Corrin would've wanted to hear the truth about whether Garon was responsible for their mother's death for them self since Corrin DID believe he was their father up until a very short time before this. Then the story would likely have followed the Conquest path up until when Corrin is sent to suppress the uprising in Cheve, at which point they would see the atrocities that Garon ordered his men to commit there and defect from Nohr, saving Scarlett and taking all of the allied units you've gained up to this point with them. At which point, Corrin would be taken by Scarlett to meet with Ryoma just like in Birthrights, and after some apologies on both sides, they would set aside their differences to fight against Garon, and it is around this point where Azura would reveal Anankos' influence on Garon. Now the story would follow the Birthrights path, with some changes made to compensate for where you recruit certain units since you would still be in Nohr after the Conquest portion of the game. The end of the Birthrights path would go about the same way, hopefully minus a few plot related deaths, until defeating Garon. At this point I believe Anakos would've launch an invasion using his weird undead ghost army in a last ditch attempt to destroy both nation's armies now that they've been weakened each other. Now the story switches to the Revelations path, only would've been much shorter since there wouldn't need to be as many battles that had little plot relevance like the version of Revelations we got ultimately had. And from here the would conclude with the Revelations ending serving as the only ending, and the DLC outside of the three paths would still exist in the same format. It would've been a much larger game, but overall, I think this version would've been significantly better, or at the very least, people wouldn't be questioning whether or not it was a really shady project on Nintendo's part.
Yeah. When he said "you have to buy three games to get the full story" I was very confused. You have to buy 5 or 6 games to get the full story of Kingdom Hearts, and that's not a scam.
@@luckyducky7819 You have a point, but there is a difference. Every Kingdom Hearts game is a completely different game, with different stories, characters, and gameplay mechanics, even though all of them connect to the same narrative. Whereas FE Fates is a game that tells a story, then for the same price of the full game, allows you to play alternate paths in the same story that expand on your knowledge of the one game you already have. But all three versions of Fates have the same graphics, same mechanics, and same characters, although which characters are allies or enemies depends on which version you're playing. It would be like a Pokemon game that had narrative plot-holes that could only be answered if you bought the other version released in that generation. Yeah, you COULD just play through the one version you bought, but then you wouldn't know the whole story that way.
Thanks for this comment. I really meant I was confused by the vague wording of the honorable mention, but this makes that make more sense. Still, I can't say its a scam in my opinion, unless the plot holes make the game or characters in the game act senseless.
Not gonna lie, wasn't expecting Smash 4 to be on this list. I admit now that Josh mentions it the DLC was very pricey, I can forgive that for how they were just adding a lot more to the already lengthy roster and Stages after the game was out. The Hype was nice. Same thing with FE Fates. Yeah they released the game like it was Pokemon instead of treating it like it's SA2, but at least the prices for the other paths were a pretty reasonable price. One more thing: Surprised they didn't mention BBTAG in their #9 segment and how they dodged a bullet unlike MvCI.
The dlc for smash 4 was made after it was released and you do not NEED to buy anything to enjoy the full experience. The dlc fighters were added so that the game would not get delayed and the price is justified when you consider the resources used
TBF to No Man’s Sky, a majority of those “promises” was gaming journalism overhyping the game. Those promises were never truly made and we all expected a Twinkie to baked Alaska.
I recommend people to search for Ashen's video about the game "Hareraiser". ALL of the entry mentioned here at least has SOMETHING. At the bare minimum, they will move, the game code does something. Hareraiser does NOTHING, with a price tag that is extortionate at the time. you have to buy part 1 and 2 SEPARATELY, with a promise that it would lead to a REAL price.
I don't know if it could be considered a scam but what about Daikatana? *goes to pour salt around my house to ward off the demonic ghosts of gamings past*
Say what u will about street fighter v, but at least you dont need to buy every character to play online, it just treats it like u havent unlocked them, that would make the dlc practices inexcuseable. Megamans hiatus sucks, but for battle network the story officially finished with 6. Would be nice to have a remale or spinoff though
Actually the "True/Full Ending" DLC for Asura's Wrath was originally supposed to be the Sequal, but when the game unfortunately didn't preform well in the sales department they took what they already had and then sped up the rest so they could continue the story as much as they could and so there was an actual ending... Then released it as DLC, kind of like Fallout 3's Broken Steel DLC.
apparently asura's wrath got an update that lets you unlock the final chapter by playing i saw someone say that so I'm not sure, but for me the chapter was worth the money
I think a reason Nintendo has been much more light on DLC is because of the EA battlefront 2 debacle. Nintendo lives by their reputation and they know that very well. It's why they invest tens of millions in Oddesey and Breath of the Wild, because they know that the reputation of Mario and Zelda will get millions of people to buy a Switch just to play them. For EA a debacle like that is minor hindrance but for Nintendo it could be a death sentence.
Finally! Nintendo for once was called out for the bs it does! I was getting tired of Nintendo's sugarcoat and the fact people ignored the shit this company was doing!
Before finishing watching here: if that one Fire Emblem family where each version is just a different ending for the same game isn't on here, I'll be more than a little shocked. EDIT: Well, a shoutout is close enough.
Basically, each of the three members of the Fates family had different third acts of the story, which altered who the player fought for and what happened to almost all of the characters. The player doesn't get a choice in which divergent path you take either (besides picking which game you bought), and if you bought the game blind, there's pretty solid chances you'll get an ending you don't like.
AardvarkLord I think I know what you mean. Fates made it out to be you could choose your own narrative (whether to decide to side with Nohr or Hoshido), when in reality you could only choose which path you go through depending on which version of the game you purchased, that being Conquest or Birthright. Which means you’ll have to do research in order to decide whether or not you’d rather side with Nohr or Hoshido, which’s entirely detrimental for those that go into then game blind. That, and the third path that has all the answers was released separately later on as DLC...
yeah about hello games, i looked it up, there was a flood, that possibly screwed up most of what no mans sky was supposed to have www.hellogames.org/2014/01/the-flood/ they kept working on it best they could but, this would've messed stuff up, like the fire at maxis that screwed the sims 2 abit

Dude I had Dr. Pepper coming out of my nose.
They even hidden a PlayStation trophy or xbox achievement behind a pay wall!

Unfortunately, despite EA's BS this year, they had a record year in profits.

Which game was that again???
Alien: Colonel Marines, I believe
I don't know about you, but...
If they found a code that accidentally makes the aliens act goofy, couldn't they reuse that code for a game with a more light-hearted tone? It might actually be pretty funny.... 😉
Heck, I'd take a modded form of this game to fit that description lol
The "dig dig dig" part was hilarious! XD

I’m honestly surprised EA didn't get the number one spot, i’d say they should earn a medal just for that but that would only inflate their ego’s
It was the fact was literally a single lettered typo in the code that broke the whole game. One-letter they didn't bother to fix. That's really bad!
@@quanticflowers We are now in 2023 and all DLC's for TS4 are over $1000... which is crazy.

Okay but a remake is arguably a type of reboot that doesn't take as many liberties.
smash 4's DLC is pricey yes but you have to see you also get alot for it
ladyaceina With Sm4sh’s DLC, I only really got the characters since I didn’t really think the stages and Mii costumes were worth spending money on, save for when I had a little extra money and got Samus’s costume, Majora’s Mask and Dunban’s costume.
To me, if the DLC is that size and it's not a new game, the original price of the gane should be the limit.
smart alec you do know that was the price for ALL the dlc including costumes its far far lower if you just get the characters and stages
But man, was it a SUPER rough start
The redemption arc was pretty sweet
colonial marines wasn't from a bug, it was a typo in the code, a 1 letter typo screwed up the game
The strange movement from those aliens in this video made me laugh....
Wow, you really gotta comb over that code like a highly-paid lawyer combs through a contract huh?
Or in other words a bug
It should be:
They have Street Fighter, Street Fighter 2, Megaman, Street Fighter 2, Resident Evil, Street Fighter 2, Devil May Cry, did I mention Street Fighter 2 yet?
i think it's time for a new version of this countdown given everything that has happened since this was made & uploaded.
You don't need to buy the Dlc for SSB4.
You just need to update the game.

Ikr I don’t get how he got that wrong
The minute you used Pink Floyd's "Money", I began screaming with glee.
I actually didn't mind Smash Wii-U/3DS's dlc.
Western Echidna Me neither tbh, though that’s only ‘cause I only really bout the fighters and nothing else. It’s still at least only #10.
true. though i feel any of the honorable mentions were bigger scams then Smash 4's DLC. Like Evolve, Metal Gear Survive, or Final Fantasy All The Bravest
Western Echidna Yeah, I definitely agree. Even if the case of Fire Emblem Fates, it was more so misleading marketing rather than an outright scam.
There's also the fact that when you first bought the game you already had a complete game. The DLC was just an add-on.
Hey!
I remember TCR from BlameItOnJorge!
I genuinely snorted at the "You wanna hear a joke? EA." part.

Yeah, 80$ for a complete story

They still could've made the DLC free!
^This pretty much.
1:32 Pink Floyd's "Money"! Very fitting!
see no man's sky in here
"this aged badly, very badly"
I don't really think that Fire Emblem Fates a scam, considering that:
1. The stories of each game begin and end in the same path and are fully contained, so you don't need Birthright to understand the story of Conquest etc
2. Each game has massive gameplay, character and story differences from the other and aren't just minimal differences like with Pokemon's separate verisons. (And to talk about a scam, re-releasing the same game twice after just a year with small additions like Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon was ridiculous)
As I said before, I feel like Fates was originally meant to be one story that was meant to be much larger and here's how I think it was meant to go:
It likely would've started exactly the same, but then at the point where Corrin "chooses" which path to take, you originally would've been forced to return to Nohr, partly because I believe Corrin would rather fight to change Nohr from within rather than fight wage war against it directly since it's the only home they really had until now, and also because Corrin would've wanted to hear the truth about whether Garon was responsible for their mother's death for them self since Corrin DID believe he was their father up until a very short time before this.
15:34 Surprised to see that you didn't mention that the 3DS and Vita versions haven't come out TO THIS DAY.
Love the Corporate Commander drop there.
17:25 I understood that reference.

The dlc for smash 4 was made after it was released and you do not NEED to buy anything to enjoy the full experience. The dlc fighters were added so that the game would not get delayed and the price is justified when you consider the resources used
I only bought Bayonetta as a weapon against all the cloud players. I never really got the hang of her though.
I think it's about time we remove No Mans Sky from this list
It can be replaced by Fallout 76 and Cyberpunk 2077
Good thing Mighty Gunvolt Burst proved that Beck and co. do have potential and deserve a second chance.
I’m glad countdowns are still a thing..
Oh there still going.
Douglas Stewart I know, but that’s what I meant. Some of my first videos I watched were countdown videos, so when I see these, I get nostalgic.
That's cool. Yeah countdowns are one of my favorite things to see in my sub box.
If only they had known about Pokemon Unite at the time.
$40.00 for a costume, a skin without any benefits other than looks.
its only looks
*reads title* Calling it now. EA is number 1.
Bzzzzzt. you lost.
Surprise, It's number 5.
TBF to No Man’s Sky, a majority of those “promises” was gaming journalism overhyping the game. Those promises were never truly made and we all expected a Twinkie to baked Alaska.
22:52 Well someone’s been watching Space Balls. 😂
And yet, people think EA is doing something right.
KJ Gamer90 Who? EA?
@@manuelalbertoromero9528 Theire stockholders.
I'm aware
@@jinkisaragi874 Those aren't People those are faceless money ticks who care only for the bottom line
Yeah it's called dragging their own name through the mud.
LOL, the Smash Ultimate reference with the "Everyone is here!" thing at the end.
I don't know if it could be considered a scam but what about Daikatana? *goes to pour salt around my house to ward off the demonic ghosts of gamings past*
That wasn't so much a scam as a man's overinflated ego, needless spending, and overhype
Michael Tabbut I did think that
Ashleigh Tompkins *gives hug* shhhhh it'll be alright
Ashleigh Tompkins out of this house! Out of this house!
"At least, I hope that's the case."
Well, given that Ultimate also has Snake and the Ice Climbers...
20:25 Didn't suspect Seb from "Joueur du Grenier" to make a cameo! He is from a French youtube channel about video games, they are cool lads!
That's right joueur du grenier is a great show
What the shit Seb are YOU
lost ? XD
Gotta admit, David Goodenough was the last thing I expected to see here.
Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. A game that quite literally strangles the money out of you.
Dodonpachi257 or if they released the Battle network game that crossed over with Starforce, that'd be cool.
Don't need to for smash 4 too
Smash Bros : 200$ DLC
Sims : *Hold my beer*
The Sims 4 should be on this list
Actually the "True/Full Ending" DLC for Asura's Wrath was originally supposed to be the Sequal, but when the game unfortunately didn't preform well in the sales department they took what they already had and then sped up the rest so they could continue the story as much as they could and so there was an actual ending... Then released it as DLC, kind of like Fallout 3's Broken Steel DLC.
apparently asura's wrath got an update that lets you unlock the final chapter by playing i saw someone say that so I'm not sure, but for me the chapter was worth the money
Leostar yeah that’s how it works now just bought and played recently
It was suppose to be the sequal. funding didn't go through so they went with this route.
If that's true, dang. Don't regret buying it myself, but now I kinda wish the update happened sooner.
Is there any way I can get Audra’s Wrath without paying for a PSNow subscription?
I don't even play video games. I just enjoy listening to Josh hamming and snarking at everything.
I'm just glad Nintendo was at the bottom.
Don't forget, Dungeon Keeper Mobile forces you to submit 5-star ratings for the game. Anything lower doesn't count and you're sent to a referral page.
1:18 ok that game was a joke game.
Okay, 17:24 has a Chuggaaconroy reference with his shiny Weezing he named "Methane" from his Pokemon Crystal LP...
9:47
*Emplemon vibes intensify*

A remix from Wario World, a game all about getting back Wario's loot after he gets scammed....
Well played.
Before finishing watching here: if that one Fire Emblem family where each version is just a different ending for the same game isn't on here, I'll be more than a little shocked.
EDIT: Well, a shoutout is close enough.
AardvarkLord I never played fates, what exactly was the problem with it?
and don't forget the part where need to pay extra again because one of the dlc expand more the main villian
AardvarkLord so unless you got lucky with your game you had to buy all three?
AardvarkLord I think I know what you mean. Fates made it out to be you could choose your own narrative (whether to decide to side with Nohr or Hoshido), when in reality you could only choose which path you go through depending on which version of the game you purchased, that being Conquest or Birthright. Which means you’ll have to do research in order to decide whether or not you’d rather side with Nohr or Hoshido, which’s entirely detrimental for those that go into then game blind.
That, and the third path that has all the answers was released separately later on as DLC...
Loved the every scam is here part lol. Ground Zeroes is probably up there too, 40 dollars for 10 minute demo.
300fusionfall surprisingly nope not even a honorable mention
yeah about hello games, i looked it up, there was a flood, that possibly screwed up most of what no mans sky was supposed to have www.hellogames.org/2014/01/the-flood/ they kept working on it best they could but, this would've messed stuff up, like the fire at maxis that screwed the sims 2 abit
Thanks for allowing ThatCreepyReading to collaborate with you on this video! Despite the fact he makes a living reading scary stories, he can be outrageously funny. Like he is in your Tyranny of Dragons videos.
