James it cut a lot better than I figured it would, very impressed. 👍
The cameraman did a great job too. 🙂
Yeah I was pleased with the outcome. Max was filming the bits at the end with the drone 🤩
That dang Max, what can he NOT do. 🤣👍🏼👊🏼
I like the Winston tractor topper ❤😊
Thank you Inga 👍🏼
In Australia your topper is called a slasher ( brush hog in the U.S. ) and for cutting grass it's usual to have the swing blades sharpened at a similar angle as ride on mower blades and flat blades like yours are reversible so you could have one side sharp for grass and the other a dull edge for smashing down saplings and regrowth .
Sharp blades will give a surprisingly nice finish , I use mine regularly on my few acres and tidy around trees and fence lines with the ride on .
fantastic video, great watch to end my day, Keep the great videos coming!
Flail mowers are obviously far superior especially if front mounted. But need more hp and then the fuel to go with.
We have now gone to a Major Cyclone, it's an amazing bit of kit.
I can highly recommend it. Works almost as well as a flail but without the need for the hp or fuel.
Run the smallest Winton flail mower, with my Yanmar twin cylinder 16.5bhp tractor.
Nice machine, yeah flails do take some driving 👍🏼
Hi James , nothing wrong with a Same or any of SDF group of tractors I owned two air cooled Deutz tractors and regret selling them to this day they were bulletproof and other than servicing never put a spanner on them and one of them had done over thirteen thousand hours when I sold it.👍
Very much on par with the likes of the hürlimann’s that Sammy.
Pretty much the same tractors with a different badge and colour. Also Deutz and Lamborghini
Great job 😊always found a topper with two smaller blades did a better job
I was pleasantly surprised how well it handled the rushes, could be the blade design.
Hi James, good bit of kit there, I don't know much about farm machinery but I do enjoy this . Just a thought with this power coming off a PTO could this be powered from a back of an old Land Rover series 2 or 3 off the PTO off the rear diff, just a though mate. As always a great video Take care
Great video 😊 when are you getting a new headlight for the samie
Thank you Ben, she does look a bit sad with only one eye. I must sort this!
I dont think these are cheap horsepower, for example you could say that mccormick which used to be case ih knock offs as they had the same designs would be cheap horsepower but its all relative in what your using it for, using it everyday for contracting work, maybe, but if your using it for bits and bobs on your land then no trouble at all
100% at the end of the day, if it does what you want it to then it perfect 👍🏼
wouldnt recomend that topper. looks light duety and having the support frame under the machine makes it harder to clean and more suseotable to rust. also dont like how it unches the grass up in a swath
I just bought a small Winton 105 Flail Mower and it's great, be worth checking the oil in the gearbox as mine was 150ml short.👍
Why waste money and time slashing it down? Let it grow and graze it.
Harvest the reeds for compost
I need a set of those ear denders! But some job through those thick rushes
As a retired lawnmower dealer myself from northern Ireland I love all your videos. Your teaching you son well. Why don't you get a demo on the new weibang brush mower and the tracked flail mower .
Thank you Ian. We have done a lot of work with Weibang in the past as know them very well. But since I sold off my dealership we can’t seem to get too much sense out of them this year, hopefully they will come round 👍🏼
@MachineryNation yea we sold a lot of weibangs and cobra and ego and lots more
The disc drum as you called it. Here in the southern us we call it a stump jumper
I even read that in a IS accent (badly)
He said "short work" ,this what they say in Norfolk .
I wonder if you also have "three corner fields" .
Haha, yeah short work lol. I grew up on a farm where we had 2 x ‘Three corners’ on one farm and another on another farm. We also had “the one above 3 corners” but it had 4 corners 😂😂
@MachineryNation that's country speak for you.
That's the way to cut grass👌
Thanks Nath 👍🏼
Good video James 👍
Thanks Nev 👍🏼
James FTS also do a couple of winton power harrows. What about checking those out. that would be pretty good to see.
We may well do 👍🏼 we featured their stone buried on our Vlog channel.
Great machine, do you get out front toppers for tractors?
Come to Scotland a top my parents crop of rushes. 😊
Hi James Nice job We have a winton flail there well made and a lot less money than the big name brands Thanks again
Nice! Looking forward to getting our hands on one later this year 👍🏼
