- Another Cliff Burton bass solo from Cliff 'em All.
Check out www.sharkchild.com, I'm sure there's many Lovecraft fans among you Burton fans and this guy's stories are in a similar vein.
Happy 52nd birthday, Cliff. We love and miss you.
FUCK I MISS HOW DIRTY AND STINKY AND RUANCHY METAL USED TO BE . FUCKING BEAUTIFUL.
He’s 62 now 😢
Poor cliff man if they had a nother chance to see him they would be crying rn😢
Lead guitarists: “No bass solo will ever top a guitar solo”
Cliff Burton: “Hold my beer. ...no, I mean literally, hold it while I enlighten these gentlemen”.
Underrated comment..... 😂
hell yeah fuckin right !😉👊 Cliff rocks ! this solo is simply epic ! 🔥🔥
funny thing when Cliff made this solo he somewhat told Kirk to hold his beer xD
Cliff Burton played Bass like a Lead Guitar, one of best bassists ever RIP
Never before never again the likes of Cliff 🖤💜🖤
Best musical talent to ever walk the modern world no one will ever top him
@@willsantos5883 John Entwistle outlived him, and he was the reason bass got notoriety
@@pilummurialis6490 lol kk bro 😘
He was so young and yet so incredibly talented. It's mind boggling to think how good he would be today. We love you Cliff, and miss you so much!
I am 13 and I just heard about Cliff in the last month, but I see how he plays and I say: wow, what an incredible bassist. and then I searched bass solos videos from him and I found one that almost made me cry, cause that solo was played september 26 1986, just a few hours before he died... and I also searched for interviews, he died becaus he got tha bed that was assigned to Kirk, and Kirk still thinks that it could have been him, and he wished that it was him and not Cliff :(
The first time I heard this on Kill Em All I was like, why is the guy saying " bass solo, take one"? Blew my mind when I actually found out it was a bass and not a six string. I was 12, cut me some slack.
Grew up with the Best Metal!! RIP Cliff
cliff will always be my hero, but i can't say that he's the best because we can't compare him to anyone who plays different way..it's not about who's the best, it's about one's character in music..
Vee Farhan it doesn't matter man he's your hero An mine as well no one is the best at music that's the thing every gets it all wrong ! But glad to see cliff is other people's heros
he’s your hero, and mine, and i’m a guitar player
2:30 forget the Jason Newstead windmill, the Cliff Burton windmill is badass!
We all miss you Cliff...
A god on bass.
AmericanThunder who would win in a fight Cliff or Lemmy

He doesnt like being seen as that
The way he uses 4 fingers to pluck is amazing. Rip cliff. My all time favorite bassist and all time favorite musician.
cliff will live forever because his song can't be deleted from the history of rock and metal
Cliff is awesome! The best bass guitar player that ever lived.\m/
This makes you look stupid.
1. Cliff is a bassist
2. He's Not ht e best guitarist cus he plays bass but the best guitarist is Dime Bag Darrel or Van Halen
3. R.I.P Cliff
AC/Maiden He said bass guitar....
Cian Reeves O'shea after i corrected him before it was guitar
You say Dimebag. I say Les Claypool is way more technical and skilled than dimebag. Cliff was way ahead of his time, dimebag doesn't even make my top 3.
And Van Halen??? Really ? Smfh
cliff is my inspiration to play the bass
Whenever I watch a vid of Cliff playing, I always get the feeling that he really was just a lucky fan that was able to go up there and play. From the interviews and the way he played he just seemed like a very down to earth guy. RIP
Jesus Christ he had huge hands. No wonder he could play that bass like a guitar and slung so low. I love seeing jam the shit out of that with fingers. A great finger plucker.
I love this video. Cliff was obviously the man. That bass solo is among the best of ALL time. Yes, RIP Cliff. Your legacy has made you immortal, and your spirit lives on in ALL of YOUR fans. Annuite Cœceptus
For those who don't know, he's just putting some distortion on it. That's why it sounds like a guitar.
and playing at higher notes than a bassist normally plays.
Tigga Da Wigga wow thank you captain obvious
you obviously know nothing about guitar if you just found that out
For those who likes that fucking cat’s mewing them better not play bass. At all.
I think he has some kind of "blues" pickup on that Aria Pro II. He had them on his Rickenbacker 4001, heavenly influenced him.
30 years later and Cliffs spirit is as alive and well as ever. It warms my heart to see all the views and comments, it really does. Great music like this really is timeless. To quote one of my favorite movies "Heroes are remembered but legends never die." Cheers Cliff, wish you were around to see it for yourself.
Cliff em all!!
the metal world never see another bass player as extremely gifted bass player as Cliff,RIP,Gone but never forgotten!!!
RIP Cliff
I have watched this every day for the last 4 or 5 years and i enjoy it more every time!!! Made me want to play bass!!
they lost the heart and the soul with that man right there!
Very true. I worship CLIFF BURTONabd I have since 1987
thanks RIPCB for this amazing video, from Italy in loving memory of Cliff Burton.
Holy shit, psychedelic bass play in the making, I wonder ir he improvised....
Is it just me or has anyone else ever seen someone’s pinky in that shape that cliff has it in 2.04? Like that is some serious pinky shit, the guy was freaking amazing!!
He had a torn ligament on his pinky which is why his pinky always sticks out like that while playing. This is also why Cliff only plays with two fingers
30 years
happy birthday cliff we miss you man thanks for getting me into bass
Nobady plays a base that way anymore!!!
Or does correct spelling.
***** Yes. Thank you.
Mlg Sound Effects GRAMMAR WTH IS WRONG WITH YOU CHILDREN STAY IN FUCKING SCHOOL HOLY SHET
+You are soul you fail at being a grammar nazi, what you said makes no sense.
Dylan Vermeulin Only if you don't understand it. Please tell us whatyou think I did wrong.
Totaly awesome man and his pinky is so freaky yet so cool tock on Cliff Burton may you play for the heavens with all of the other greats for the rest of time
That bend at 1:32
Wow!
That still gives me goosebumps
And the way he looks around at the crowd like y’all sure you want to hear this?
Cliff Burton is the best bass player that has ever lived! He's a legend! R.I.P. my friend
cliff was awesome
R.I.P Cliff Burton
Sweden took his life, but still his riffs soar through the air over Ljungby, the final resting place of Cliff Burton.
Let us here never forget this incredible master of the powerful bass guitar. The shredder god of bass riffs. R.I. fucking P CB may god play the guitar by your side...
how the hell Cliff plays a bass solo that sounds like lead guitar solo. holy
Asif Mallik distortion xD its not about cliff its just a gear
the amount o frets to reach a higher note register
you will always be the best Cliff and no one will be able to replace you !
R.I.P.
seconds wasted looking at lars ulrich
amazin ecuador fuck Lars
He was so awesome! Imagine if he was still around today.
metal needs a comeback!
Man his head banging and bass playing are just to badass.
I thought bass guitar usually sounded like really low and deep plucking. Unless this is a different kind of bass. Captain? Help?
it's cliff Burton XD no he probably has different eq settings, he's also playing the higher notes, also he's playing distorted, which isn't too popular among bassists
+V10 FSI also very clear that there is a wah wah and/ or chorus effect going on
+Hiya H Cliff used lower gauge strings too, thinner ones, the thickest one he used was .90inches i think
I'm no expert on guitar, just so you guys know. Because I don't play it. I was just curious. But thanks y'all. :D
Hiya H well let me put it in non guitarist terms, He plays high notes, and with distortion.
This man alone, was the 99.9% of Metallica. Even Mustaine with all his anger to the band made a song about him after he passed ("Im my darkest hour").
Man Lars really gave it all he had back then.
Yo Cliff, congrats!..you now finally got your spot at the RRHF. You now officially rule.
Anesthesia ♥♥♥
cliff played a bass like a guitar. he can shred like fucking crazy always be one of the best ever
make Metallica great again rise cliff rise
Replace Lars!
@@ktyount1 what would we ever do without a drummer
*Replace Rob*
REST IN PEACE OUR CLIFF BURTON! WE DO REALLY MISS YOU BUT GOD NEEDED A BASS PLAYER TO DELIGHT THE ANGELS
was he really using distortion on a bass guitar? I really love how this sounds! Know any other basists who solo this good?
Yeh if im not wrong he used a Big Muff fuzz pedal and a wah effect too :P
Check out Peter Steele from Type O Negative. He used a lot of distortion on his Bass, he was really good, check out his Dead Again Album.
*Bass
every time i look at cliff's solos i think about how amazing he would be if he was still alive. The best bassist in the world.
How do you play that at 1:49?
mkfanforever58 With your fingers and a bass guitar
mkfanforever58 D':> my feelings..
+mkfanforever58 Fuzz pedals and a wah pedal very unconventional for a bass player.
+Painkiller I already have the pedals I wanted to know how to actually play it. I figured it out now.
Cliff was one heck of a bass player.
Some bass players don't figure out how to strike the strings with two fingers...he used three most the time.
RIP Cliff
Why does that bass sound like a guitar?
distortion
+mike104740 because cliff is fucking magic
lol, should of known it was distortion
+mike104740 distortion tends to cut a bit of the low end
+mike104740 He used the hidden strat pickup near the bridge. It's the way how he got the guitar sound.
I listen to the song a long long time ago when I was 7 years old when my dad first showed me and I've loved it ever since fucking badass🤘🤘 rest in peace cliff
Lars sucked again.
He didnt try
"Bass players can't be lead guitarists."
Cliff: starts playing.
Man, what a beast he was
Was good till lars started playing
Espectacular, con sólo 23 años todo lo que hacía, grande Cliff!!!
Man you gotta love it ole' Cliff shreddin that bass
RIP Cliff Burton
A legend still here.
In our hearts. (and ears)
THIS WAS THE BEST BASSIST I´VE EVER HEARD... R.I.P CLIFF
such a wonderful bass for a legendary bass player like cliff burton! RIP
What some people dont realize, he died at 24...not even at his peak as a musican..one can only imagine if he played another 10 more years how good he may have progressed...amazing..
WOW,that's a Bass???
Is sounds amazing!!!
Cliff was really great!
I love his pinky, it seems like it's not even a part of his hand...amazing
Ktulu is pronounced like "ka-too-loo"
This is off of Cliff Em' All. I had it on Vhs back in the day but played it so much i wore it out. I wish it was on dvd.
The best bass player to have ever lived in my opinion!! he was awesome!!
R.I.P Cliff.
THIS bass solo is the reason I wanted to learn to play bass when I heard it the first time somewhere around 1987!
unfortunately it never happened(yet).
man...
This guy sure could shred the fuck out of a bass.
RIP Cliff.
best bassist... actually scratch that. best MUSICIAN that has ever lived. R.I.P Cliff Burton
he was ahead of his time! damn Cliff, you rocked! i hope the Lord has you now.
The neck on that bass is probably the longest I have ever seen. Leave it to Burton to master such a instrument!
Thank You For Your Beautiful Music.
I had the honor if seeing cliff burton play when i was 14 metallica opened up for ozzy in Phoenix Arizona..
MAN, HE WAS THE FASTEST AND BEST AND QUICKEST BASSPLAYER EVERRRR TO HAS LIVED!!§§§§§§!!! RIP DUDE, WE MISS U CLIFF, PLAY UR BASS IN HEAVEN!!!

The quality for the time is amazing
1:47 - 1:57 still give me chills to this day, 20 years after i saw cliff em all for the first time.
Cliff was the man!! the bass guitar was apart of him!!! he is a bass legend!!

Always say hi to Cliff 🎸 fucking badass
@TheRockClassicfan I absolutely love Cliff burton. he is my main inspiration for playing bass!
goosebumps again. ide like to say something wise and meaningful. ..but just flat out sic. thanks cliff.
one of the greatest bassists of living history CLIFF BURTON
im learnin this song. its super hard. only a bassist like cliff could pull it off and actually sound good. GO CLIFF! oh and hey cliff.
i love how he just hangs the bass there for so long in the very beggining
Cliff is one of the main reason why I want to play bass. =D
Happy birthday cliff!.
Born: February 10, 1962
Rest in peace!
look at his hands. the way they move. fluent;y, mechanically, and fast. you can see the practice in his playing. he was a great bass player.
What a sweet bass!
Cliff in memory forever
Cliff solos have a cool psychedelic element in them. Cliff is to bass as Jimi Hendrix is to guitar. Seriously he's a god, a bloody deity.
THIS IS UNBELIVABLE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like his expression at 1:34 its like the first time he has every hit that note and he looks up looks to someone and it looks like he said wtf. I like that he was always innovating, pushing him self and ever since he left metallica have been going down the wrong road.
he didn't leave? He died
I knew that. But thanks for the info
So much drive
Cliff burton,
though not in the world anymore,
he lives on in the music,
and bass players everywhere
