This is the Cupra Formentor!
It’s the first model to be released by SEAT’s performance division (at least, the first one not based on a standard SEAT!) and Mat’s got his hands on one for a truly in-depth review!
So the Formentor’s a small SUV, and if there’s one thing we’re not short of on our roads these days is small SUVs! So does the Formentor offer enough to stand out from the crowd?
Well when it comes to looks, it certainly does more than enough to stand out from the crowd! With roof spoiler and aggressive front grille, coupled with a sporty sloping roof line, we think it’s one of the best looking small SUVs around! As for performance, well the range-topping Formentor comes with a 2-litre turbo petrol under the bonnet to deliver 310hp!
So, will that be enough? You’ll have to keep watching to find out!

As an Australian, I’m very happy to hear Cupra is launching here next year with this as their first car. Best in its class. This will definitely be on my list.

@@dimsoneill Good purchase. I was very impressed when I sat in the normal Octavia’s and RS. To me the Octavia is a poor man’s 3 Series, but it’s built almost as good in terms of quality and materials like the suede on the dash as a 3 Series with basically the only difference being that it’s not RWD. Here in Australia the RS is $60,000 AUD so if I were to buy one I would wait a bit. I haven’t driven it yet as Victoria has been in lockdown more than anywhere in the world thanks to our dictator but with restrictions easing I may drive the RS. Skoda have certainly come a long way.

And that’s a generalisation that most girls don’t like cars, sure there may not be as many as make enthusiasts but sexism in the community might cause them to decide not to get stuck in!

It's not a good design if you have to explain it. Good designs look good right from the first impact.
They give you a 'members box' with the car which says "welcome to the tribe" inside. It has a carbon fibre bracelet and a key cover in it!

Not only do I really like the styling of those emblems, for some reason I'm also just enamored with the coloring. Especially combined with black or dark grey body color, that dark copper is really sweet. I believe for my next car I'll be looking for a similar color combo, though unfortunately Cupra hasn't made its way to the US, but maybe VW or Audi?
I'm seeing so many of these on the road and I absolutely love it, there's no other car I'd rather have for this money

This was a year ago.. now they have released a 2.5 5 cyl version with 390hp. You need to reveiew that one Mat!😁
I took Leon 1.5 eTSI because of fuel efficiency, but seeing this I am starting to regret. 4.3s. Man, this is wicked. BMW M3 e92 4.0 V8 with 420HP did 4.6s. Insane.
That 0-60 is seriously good for the class of car 👍
It’s 0.6 seconds faster than what Cupra claims.

Thought I would hate touchscreen but set up correctly ac /map / lane assist on off Button (hate it) on main screen works well
Have also set sound to click when screen touched
Heated seats can be turned on with 2 finger touch of temp touch slider absolute magic
But the real question is have you done a 0-60?????

Picked up mine 2 weeks ago and I'm in love with it, equivalent of VZ3 spec here in Germany. Don't think there's much better for the money personally.

Been waiting for this day! Get mine in 3 weeks. So glad I put my deposit down before this great review.
They state it as “4.9s” 0-60 because VW don’t want it looking quicker than the more ‘premium’ VAG rivals on paper, it was the same story as the old Polo GTi, Fabia vRS, A1 185 and Ibiza Bocanegra, all had exactly the same engine and gearbox yet the Polo and A1 was listed as the quickest... funny that.
Seen a few of these lately & they’re even nicer in real life than on the vids. Time for me to go shopping :)

Somehow, somewhat. There is a sense of serenity around Matt when he's reviewing this vehicle. Maybe due to the overall design of the car, it feels soothing to me.
I'm not a fan of SUVs, but there's something about this one, it looks interesting, the interior looks great, and you get great performance

If you guys ever read this, there is one thing i would like to suggest and that is to lower the music volume vs the vocal sound :)
Because if you like us and watch the video’s on the tv we have te up the volume when you talk and lower it because the music is very loud:)

It's not hard, it's just that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, some things look pretty and stylish to one person and ugly and weird to another. Some people like the new M3, some don't. Some like the look of the Toyota CH-R, some don't, its entirely your own opinon.

@@maxMax-nw9mn I have a deal offered on the 1.6 plug in VZ2 for £379 a month, and 14K in total for three years, I'm seriously tempted. But really put off by all the negative reviews due to the infotainment system having so many issues, which totally ruins the ride as it controls everything!

@@moa9658 first units had some issues with the infotainment system (lagging, confusing / anti intuitive controls, etc), but in 2023 models that is fixed. Just go ahead and by it, it's an absolutely amazing car.
I shot an advert for one of these and absolutely loved it. Brilliantly capable and surprisingly rapid. The only fast crossover I'd consider purchasing.

Today I signed the contract for my first car ever which is a Formentor! (Plug-in hybrid version) and I did a test drive today and it is a really good car
I really like everything about this car! Cupras way of styling it, the interior, this color on the interior and the logo 🤩👌🏽

I have to say that is one good looking car for its class. I'm not a fan at all of the SUV thing so the flatter, more sporty look is really appreciated, and the styling is cool but not obnoxious. Even the interior looks great for its class/price, I like it!
But i also have to agree that the Cupra branding is a bit weird. Not with the "medieval" argument from Matt, i just think it looks a little bit to much as if its made to look cool. It's like "gamer" accessoires, always a bit too tacky/flashy.

Saw one at the dealership. It's actually quite impressive in the flesh, looks muscular and aggressive. Black doesn't suit it very well I think. In blue it looked terrific.

Such a sweet design, Cupra have got it just right here - I love it! Not the most inspiring range of colours but the matt finish on the Petrol Blue looks fab to me - BUT I understand that you can't apply a ceramic coat to the bodywork so how do you give it an extra layer of protection? (bird poo, acidic rain, water beading and so on)
I just had a test drive with this one. What a great car. I had a hard time driving back to the dealer.
My only thing, I simply do not drive so much lately (we all know why), so is it smart to take a lease when you already have a paid car and so no monthly fees?
If I needed to drive on daily basis, I would by it.

The styling is on point 👌
I’m driving a Born for a few months. It looks and drives awesome and that logo projected on the floor at night makes me feel like I’m getting into a Batmobile.
However it’s software is awkward. Infotainment system is a little slow and janky. Opening the main menu (where you need to go to change from comfort to range or sport mode) takes at least 30 seconds to load when the car just starts and on average 2 seconds when it’s running.
Also the car always forgets your last setting and defaults to “comfort” which is super annoying. The app which should help you control charging also sucks. Made me walk to my car at midnight because it supposedly stopped charging only to find it charging just fine

(Even my family is like, "Oh he's watching Matt again") I'm always surprised about which recommendations you should "just go out and buy" and I can mostly agree to why you came to those decisions.
