I think Knxwledge is 100% right. It’s his music that people are stealing and trying to make money off of without his permission. I would be mad too. I get his thought process too, it’s basically “I wont let you use my beats unless I fuck with you” and most producers with Knxwledge’s reputation think like this. Shit IM LIKE THAT AND IM A NOBODY. It doesn’t matter if the music he makes is sampled, he has the ability to get it cleared and the normal person doesn’t. Which makes it ok for him to sample whenever he wants, however he wants. One last thing, PLEASE DONT MONETIZE MUSIC THAT HAS A SAMPLE IN IT WITHOUT CLEARING IT. Put that shit on an unmonetized Soundcloud or YT channel or just keep it stashed.

    • @tommyk88888
      @tommyk88888 Год назад +6

There is another difference. He is able to use his samples creatively in ways that make the original song unrecognizable if he wants. Rappers probably just take his creations from there and spit some generic shit over top of it. If they are smart enough to come up with dope lyrics theyre probably smart enough not to monetize his beats either.

And with how saturation production has become I love knowing that most of these producers won't ever stand out do to exactly what you said, their beats have no personality. The only people to buy generic beats are generic rappers. And neither generic rappers or producers really get anywhere. sure they can have a short 15 seconds of fame if they are lucky but if they aren't creative their success wont last.

The law is clear, using other people's work against their wishes or without permission is copyright infringement. The gray area is only in court where it must be proven with evidence for there to be consequences. People also pretend that the Amen Brake is grey area, but again it's not, it's just never going to court because of practical reasons (too ubiquitous). When a sample is public domain, you can use it all you want, there are no copyright protections (this usually happens for very old recordings or public broadcast type things). The producer community really needs to stop these "legal gray area" arguments, it's oversimplified when this stuff is not that complicated.

I want everyone in these comments criticizing Knxwledge to listen to some of the songs these ‘’rappers’’ are making with his beats. It’s just uninspiring, low effort rhyming by some teenager who sounds like they have social anxiety. There’s a reason he wasn’t mad at STEEZ and Joey rapping over his shit without permission, bc they killed it. I wouldn’t want these wannabe artists spitting trash over my work either.
Also, jacking beats isn’t sampling. If someone sampled a Knxwledge song or used a sample he used and he complained THEN you can call him a hypocrite. Taking someone else’s beat and talking over it isn’t sampling, sampling is taking a part of a song and making it something different. Anyone who can’t understand are doomed to fail.

It doesn't make his beats getting stolen O.K. but its a big reason in why some producers on Twitter like to kick his back in. Though a lot of people seem to have it out for him. There was a time before all this where he called out Mach-Hommy for using a beat of his without paying and he got made fun of. I don't know what the deal with that is.

I get his point but the solution to me is just to get the copyrights to the music before he post it. If you post anything on RUclips and don’t have the legal rights to it, it can get ripped off. I know that may be more complicated then it sound but people are not going to stop doing what they are doing, so just being realistic, he has to change things. If he can’t get the copyright for some reason then he probably should keep it to himself until he gets all that sorted out. We can play hypothetical and say people shouldn’t take his work but that’s not realistic which is why he addressed it as such. So he should change his approach other wise he will continue to get his music taken.

      I don’t think that’s the argument here
The issue really is rappers running off with his shit before he can lay claim to it in the first place
For instance you can’t make a sculpture and walk away from it for a few to go get a sticker to put your name on it and have some one come grab it throw some paint on it and then when you’re like fuck it I’ll do it again and post it have some one come claim that the original was there’s and they gotta take the new one away
He just wants the rights to what he originally did só going forward he gets his credit first Im not sure this would be the issue it is had he had the initial rights to it or didn’t get flagged because he posted his shit second

The price of ‘fame’ for an artist is you have to deal with leeches who will try to use your hard work for their personal gain. There’s two sides to that coin. Because it probably allows him to do this full-time. I’m pretty confident he is a true artist and will remain to bless us with his autonomous creations. I wouldn’t mind it though if he would stop producing for big names and was able to just release personal work. That would be a strong move in my opinion, if he was able to do that. But I don’t know what his bucketlist looks like. Either way these rappers need to check themselves before they wreck themselves.

Intellectual property is a hard one. Everybody wants to make money off theirs, but not have to pay for others. I bought my copy of FL, when I could, but used a trial, or cracked, version for years. I used to record lyrics to beats of other producers I never met, but when I wanted to have original ones I learned to make my own and then met other producers who thought I would rep their beats well. With the amount of beats for cheap lease and with how easy it is to use a couple of programs in any computer, or phone, and make an 'original' beat, rappers really have no excuse to do this. But, that being said, it is stealing; but so is sampling and not paying for it. I'm not one of those people that thinks there is no artistry to sampling, but if you are only paying for what samples are recognizable, and not everything, then you are doing the bare minimum and only partially stealing. The problem that nobody (at least out of your video) is addressing is actually the streaming services and their shitty attribution systems. Some unreachable person, or AI, should not be in charge of attributing who owns what and it certainly shouldn't be something that you can't challenge and change if you can prove you created something. There is no reason that if somebody has posted a song that they are selling that Knowledge produced that that site couldn't just take most of the money they generate and pay it to Knowledge. But, I agree, that once he is aware that somebody has made something with his beats that he should have the right to request it be taken down. Especially if he doesn't like it.

There should be some method to have a hidden & encrypted metadata tag embedded into the original audio file that has the authors credentials. This metadata should then not be able to be edited/deleted unless the correct encryption key is used and no matter what re-formatting etc is done to the file this info is permanent. Then all streaming platforms allow the uploader to enter this info, tying the file to them as the owner/creator and copyright holder.

    - knx profits off of uncleared sample with his music on bandcamp. doesnt flag or demonetize original sample creators own content
    - other ppl try to profit from sampling knx, but these ppl actually damage knx new songs
the hipocrisy is in the details. knx is also 'damaging' the ppl he is sampling because he is not paying them what they were due, per law.
the big thing about his criticism is that people are doing the damage in a much more direct and impactful way unto knx, via unfairly causing his brand new creations to be halted before they can even be heard on platforms. the knx remix that got taken down with copyright claim was a meek freestyle remix, which he got permission from the videographer. that, i think, is fair to say that meek fucked up in copyrighting it simply because why? what does meek make out of silencing an old freestyle remix from making money to the remixer? maybe he got a chunk of change for the sue but i doubt it
