  • The Aponogeton Ulvaceus has unique twisted leaves that are bright green and large. This plant can make an amazing centerpiece plant or added in a mix of other background plants in larger aquariums. It grows from a bulb and should not be placed more than halfway in the substrate. The Aponogeton Ulvaceus does best in well-established aquariums and is relatively undemanding.

    I’d love if you made more informational aquarium plant videos like this! I’m a beginner-intermediate and work at a local fish store! I am always looking for good and correct information I can use myself and pass on to my guests 😊

    I would grow that back in the late 70's..but the whole dormant thing sort of killed my interest in all the Aponogetons. They were like the aquarium version of Caladiums..try and overwinter them is just as hard.
    I see you have the green line Rasbora's..great little fish. Very playful,or course no bother,and mix well with Danio's just fine..the two species get along so well they co school together,play fish tag all day long.

    I love the look of these plants. I am planning to put them as a background in a Fluval flex 15 gallon. The tank will have Co2 and decent lighting as its near a window. Any suggestion how to keep these plants trimmed for a small tank ?

      There isn't a way to keep these short, but if you want to keep the from filling out your entire aquarium, trimming the leaves back from many to a few would be ideal.

      I bought a pack of 5 not knowing how big these get and put them in my 29 gallon that I keep half full. One just sprouted last night and I’ll probably have to take a couple of them out of my tank after they get big otherwise I’m probably going to have to trim a lot!

    I bought some betta bulbs at petco and they have been doing great. What to know when to collect the seed from it.

    I'm setting up a planted tank and interested to know what substrate you use?

    • @rootedtanks3530
      @rootedtanks3530  3 года назад +1

      I use a few different varieties. The tank in the video had eco complete, then other tanks have flourite or pool filter sand. 😁

    I thought these plants had to come out of the water for their dormant period and stay in a cool, dark place for a couple of months after their roots and leaves were stripped? Sounds great if they can remain in the aquarium permanently.

      I've never had issues with leaving mine in water when they go dormant. The longest time I've experienced in the aquarium is a month.
