@@reptileguy8458 are you in the US? (I just realized that you might not be in the US, which may make it impossible to get the Aquarium Co-op supplies) I don't know if the Easy Green can be shipped to other countries or not.
I had no idea that some plants just "die back" when first planted; I always thought my tank was just uninhabitable! Thank you for this video. It makes me feel a lot more confident in retrying a planted aquarium!
Thanks for a great video Cory! I love the way you do the "KISS" (keep it super simple) method of explaining things for us beginner folks.... lots of info in easy to understand language. The tetras in the tank behind you look AWESOME!!
Silver Dollars did the same to mine. They destroyed 55 gallons worth of overgrown Java fern. That stopped after I started feeding them wafers meant for bottom feeders.
The tetras and other fish going _crazy_ for the sera o-nip tab....SUPER COOL!!!! I love how it adds interest to the background. I would reckon that you did it on purpose and I love it!!!
Noob plant videos are the best... its like your making them for me! I'm in the 1/10 of 1% that can't grow duckweed. So far my Java fern and anubias are doing well.
You do not want duckweed...I got it for free from a plant from the store, it eventually almost covered my entire 55g. I found out just soon enough that if it covered the entire thing it could have killed off everything from sealing off the gas exchange. It also too FOREVER to get rid of and when it dies it leaves tiny white pedals floating that if your water evaporates they will get dried to the glass above the water and its a huge pain. Plus they have tiny hair like roots that if it dies fall off, so when you put your hand in the waterit instantly makes a huge mess. That and the fact it all ends up stuck in your filter is why I will never have it again.
It made me so happy to see Cryptocorne on the list! Easily a favourite plant of mine because they grow so bushy, my guys love swimming through them! I'll have to look into the Vallis one, looks beautiful! (I love that huge neon tank behind you too!) I do seem to struggle keeping my Amazon Sword alive lately, I'll have to look into using root tabs over liquid fertilizer I think. I have new growth on the bottom, but the existing big leaves are just going brown so quickly....
Hi, I'm not sure if I got the tip from this video or another, but you said to put pothos roots into the HOB filter to help with cleaning the water. Well, I took the advice and 2 days ago put some rooted pothos in 2 of my Flu-val 30 gallon filters. When I did a water change today, I found that the extra effort the filter motor had to expend actually almost over-heated it! To the point where the plastic of the heater that screws onto the plastic of the filter box were both melted somewhat. Luckily I caught it sooner than later, and not too much damage was done. I think I will pass on using that tip! LOL
Went to co-op the other day it's a great shop great group of people who work there also met customers that where very nice people. Keep up the good work
I remember I had some anubias in a one of my tanks and I trimmed off a few leaves and my mom got mad at me because she thought I had ruined on of the plastic aquarium plants.

Glad to see the video have a 220gl tank been going for 10 or 12 yrs at least have always wanted to add plants after seeing the video ill have to see if I can have plants in my tank and they thrive. Thanks for sharing the information.
My 30 gallon aquarium has been set up for a week now but no fish yet. I'd like to add some live plants to the few plastic ones I already have. I notice in the videos the plants come in pots. When I get them home do I take them out of the pots and bury them in the gravel? Or do I bury it pot and all in the gravel? Or is it neither and just set the pot on the gravel in the tank ? I could use a little more instruction please because I've no experience with live aquatic plants for my aquarium.
They grow better, and bigger if u take them out of the pot. Most of the time there are several plants in one pot, so u want to seperate them and give the roots big space to grow 👍 Hope this helped you😀👌
Hey AQ, I'm loving that tank in the background. What's the fuzzy plant in the left foreground beside Cory's head? Does that tank just have a Fluval 3.0 light on it?
How do I take the plants out of the pots? Or do they just Stay there? I have sand as the base in my tank will plants still thrive in that environment as long as I’m using plant tabs?
just ordered a bunch of plants from you. Corey one being the valle scenaria and mine is spreading. how do you stop it from spreading? I want it to cover most of the back which it's doing. do you just cut it or trim it back?
Hi Cory, I have 3 plants 1> Ozelot sword , planted in a glass filled with gravel and root tabs, 2> Windelov java fern, tied to a rock, and water wisteria or so they say, also planted in a glass with gravel and root tabs. I submerge the little glasses because its easier to move them for cleaning and don't disturb the established roots (when they get developed) Question, do I still need liquid fert, with root tabs? Just learning the ropes on live plants lol.🌱🌱🌿🍃🐟🐠🐟🐠🐡
I want to do a tank with shrimp and Pearl Gourimi. I want to do a moss and a floating plant with wood coming from the top making a maze of branches. Is this good idea or want should I change/add
Hi Cory! Help! I got a lotus plant sent from your store and dummy me tried to “pull” it out of the basket and I pulled the entire stem of the plant off the bulb! Will the stem grow in the substrate without the bulb? Will the bulb send up new plant shoots?? I feel so stupid!
Can you please do a video on current co2 options, gas/liquid/tablet and costs vs efficiency? I’m looking to add co2 to a 40L tank, but the only one I see available in my Lfs is tropica 60, it’s like £25 (32$) for a month supply of co2, and the box that goes in the aquarium is like half the size of a nano tank 😂
I also want to add Marimo Moss Balls and Dwarf Tiger Lotus to this list. Marimo balls are impossible to kill, and the Tiger Lotus has explosive growth under a good light and some decent soil.
Thanks, im enjoying a lot of these beginner videos, ive had a tank for awhile but struggling to take the next steps so its refreshing to hear some of the things ive been doing well but also picking up a lot of tips on what I could be doing better or new things to try. I have goldfish and use aquarium salt every time I clean the tank. Just a few tablespoon. It seems that the salt would not be conducive for the plants. Am I correct on that?
Do you have any experience with eichornia azurea ? I got one and its not doi g well in my aquarium. All my other plants are growing but this one turned black leafs .
So I have anubias barteri in my tank, it's planted into the substrate and it's doing great. I have like 2 new leafs a month, maybe even 3 it's really rewarding.

Hey! I’ve been binge watching your videos over the past week and I’ve really enjoyed them! You’ve got a great channel with great content and I learn something new with every video. I am really hoping I can make a trip out to Washington in the future to visit your shop. My question for you is, what kind of plants do you suggest to use in a silver dollar setup? They’ve eaten all the plants I’ve put in their tank. (amazon swords, Java fern, vallisneria) I apologize if you’ve covered this in another video. Thank you!
I got a bunch of vallisneria from you and I love them! They are starting to make runners but the parent plants are not getting very tall. I’m thinking I might need more light. Anyway my question: if a leaf gets damaged, either cut or broken, will that leaf stop growing?
I have issues with guppy grass or others, Hornwort or other super thin leaved plants melting/dying shortly after adding to my aquarium. I dont want to cause a parameter issue so I usually take them out right away when they turn brown. Will they come back if I just leave it? Need different fertilizer?
Hard to specifically say without seeing them. But this is the reason we don't ship hornwort, guppy grass etc. It does so horrible in shipping that most people end up with dead plants.
Hi! I need help. I'm not new to fish keeping whatsoever (videos on my channel proves that) but I am new to the plant world. I was gifted a TETRA 5 GALLON LED AQUARIUM KIT from Wal Mart for my bday and I want to do a 5 gallon planted aquarium for my betta fish. I have been doing research and a lot of reading. I am thinking of going for low light plants; mainly anubias and java fern. I understand that with these two plants, I do not have to plant them in the substrate but instead tie/glue them to decor like rocks and wood. The 5 gallon is currently running and cycled. Will the LED light that come with the kit support these two types of plants (Java fern and Anubias) and how long do I have to leave the lights on for? I will be buying a timer for my light. And do I have to add any supplement to the water for nutrients since I only have 1 fish (a betta) in the tank and an assassin snail?

the shock of water changes and light frequencies being different than the old environment cause de foliation in all plants, air or water.

I just learned a valuable lesson.
A single Female Sword tail can turn a 4ft planted tank into a barren wasteland in only 5 weeks.
My swordtails never touched my plants. The Platies will eat the algae off of them, but thats about it.
