I've owned Cyclonus and the Destruction team since they were new, and I only found out about the gimmick about a week ago. Went to try it out and of course none of them worked, guess I just wore them out back in the day 😂
This was fun. I could stand for some more like this. Be kinda fun to get the '84 line. Ratchet and Ironhide will be highly amusing. Especially if it is something other than "where are their heads? (We so desperately wanted a second version, that actually looked like the characters. Instead, they got killed off. Also acceptable.)
This was great. Others just like this will also be enjoyable. Just each sentence was written really nicely, with a some really clever ones. Also, the delivery of these sentences was a highlight.

Strangely enough, here in the tropics, the Armada Predacon (redeco-retool of TM Megatron) suffers from 'brown plastic syndrome' and experiences cracks, chips and flaking; while it is the solid Star Saber Sword that experiences breakages instead of the transparent ones from both Hasbro & Takara (both Armada & Energon toolings) that remain in great shape, in spite of active play from the very onset. (Just something factual to note in rebuttal of those witty one-liners. Furthermore, due to age, even opague plastics tend to turn brittle, some showing noticeable micro-cracking even with great care & housed in premium storage conditions i.e. pet-free, smoke-free, impact-free, sunlight-free; plus with dehumidifier.) 😅
Big agree on the Hoist mold, I've got it as Cybertron Longrack, and it's one of my favorite Transformers! Also big agree on the cool transformation of the one Land Military Minicon. I figured out a way to plug it into Longrack's hand to act as an arm-mounted missile launcher!
I started collecting right when Cybertron/Galaxy Force came out and it's neat to see how many of those toys were Armada retools. I knew some of them were but after seeing this I see just how many. This was fun. Now I want to see 1SR of all the lines.
@TJOmega - I didn't know you were a 3d Printer Nerd. It's been a while since I've fired mine up, but it's always nice to bump into 3DP peeps. Are you running a FDM or a Resin printer? I have an Elegoo resin printer, a little Monoprice FDM and a Solidoodle which needs a bunch of love put into it.
I like Armada Optimus in those final battle colors. Even if they had to take creative liberties with the color scheme for Optimus in super form. Though I'm not sure why the toy form for his regular mode has a red mouth plate and yet the animation model kept the mouth plate the same as with his original colors. Also, the toy is supposed to have the stomach area colored dark blue.
I have the Rhinox (along with the original and Fox Kids version), have and love the Airazor, never liked the "salad" Terrosaur colors (I have the Dinobots one where he's still red), but I totally forgot about the Cheetor. He looks amazing in those colors.
I still do not understand the idea of the Star Saber self destructing. Apperently they only self destruct if you leave them in combined mode but how is it even possible to do that? I have both versions and neither one of them has ever been able to stay together in combined mode. Literally any movement at all and they fall apart. Those pegs are super loose on every version. Especially the connection between the blade and the hilt. It's hard for Hot Shot and Starscream to have a sword fight when the Star Saber's blade falls off before it even makes contact with Starscream's sword. lol I totally agree with Overlord though. I don't think anyone would disagree with he's a brick but he's a nice looking brick. 😂
Yes, leaving them in combined mode is the fastest way they self-destruct, but my Jetstorm also crumbled on it's hinges that had nothing to do with sword mode.
Armada made some very clunky design choices, moreso even than G1. Aside from the Beast Wars repaints, they almost all have that Playschool/Happy Meal toy aesthetic.
Even back then, I found the Side Swipe toy disappointing. It'd be fine if his only issue was that the car mode is plain. However, they clearly had issues trying to translate the dude's design into toy form.

Honestly I think that either of the robots in disguise toy lines would be perfect for this considering to most people they are kind of obscure
