Honestly,a good Nightscream toy would be my white whale for Transformers. I actually liked a lot of things about the character in the show, from his vampire/Nosferatu aesthetic to even having a decent reason to be a "rebel teen" archetype (he didnt know who Primal was or why he should listen to him). Of course this could be because I just bought into the kid-appeal nature. Either way though it always irked me that the McDonalds toy of him was leagues more accurate than the giant 'just in time for Christmas' version

You have no idea how much I want a kid-appeal Decepticon to actually be a thing. Heck, let’s go a step further and do an entire Decepticon “family” adopting some troubled kids. Not only would this finally give the Cons human allies, but it’d allow for interesting character dynamics between them and the Autobots.
The Con “family” would probably be Barricade (cranky dad), Swift (doting mom), Slicer (edgy older brother) and Flamewar (goofy older sister).

I feel like you skipped a few characters.
G1 had other Kid appeal characters besides just Bumblebee. Tracks was actually a kid appeal character being the main focus of all the Raoul episodes. The movie weirdly seemed to set up Hot Rod as a kid appeal character since he was just hanging out with Daniel the first time we ever see him. They attempted and failed to set up Wheelie as a kid appeal character. Arcee for some reason got stuck baby sitting Daniel for most of season 3 and even giving up her head to save his life and being bonded to him as a Headmaster in the abandoned season 4. Those last two I don't think were successful as kid appeal characters but I do think Tracks and Hot Rod were actually pretty good, Hot Rod especially for how little screen time he actually had with Daniel before becoming Rodimus Prime.
Cheetor and Side Burn also kind of back up the idea that Tracks and Hot Rod were suppose to be kid appeal characters. Cheetor's TM form has the same flight mode gimmick as Track, Side Burn's original character scheme is very similar to Tracks. Cheetor also has a similar but updated take on Hot Rod's helmet design while also sharing the fact that he would eventually take over as leader. Side Burn's Powerlinx colors are also Hot Rod's colors. Cheetor is basically Bumblebee, Tracks, and Hot Rod all rolled into one and Side Burn is literally just Tracks mixed with Hot Rod.
Hot Shot also kind of became a combination of Bumblebee and Hot Rod. His Powerlinx colors are Hot Rod and he got to be leader for a while.
I don't really see how Landmine was a Kid appeal character at all... I barely even remember him in that series. Pretty sure it was just Hot Shot again especially when they reset his maturity back to how he was in Armada.
I feel like you skipped over Prime where they actually set up 3 kid appeal characters at the same time. Because all 3 kids were paired with a different Autobot. So Arcee and Bulkhead were also kid appeal characters. And I feel like Arcee and Bulkhead were actually better kid appeal characters because of the way Bumblebee was portrayed in Prime even in his own dedicated episode that had his name in the title he wasn't the main focus of the episode, Ratchet was, because Bumblebee can't talk and Raf is the only one who can translate for him he wasn't used very much at all in that series. They also brought in Smokescreen later and paired him with Jack even though he was already partnered with Arcee and I freaking hated Smokescreen.
RID2015 I feel like the kid appeal character was either Sideswipe, because Bumblebee was actually the leader in that series, or Fix-It since he was human sized and often left in the junk yard with the human characters.
There's also Rescue Bots where... kind of the entire main cast are intended to be kid appeal characters, again they're paired with human partners. Heatwave, Blades, Boulder, and Chase, though Blades for whatever reason kind of ended up being a fan favorite more than the others.
Academy seemed to set up Hot Shot again as the main kid appeal character above the rest of the cast though for me personally Whirl is my favorite.
And of course there's Twitch and Thrash in the new series who I feel are the kid appeal characters more than Bumblebee is because again he's more of a mature character in that show. And I actually really like Twitch the most in that series. Thrash took some time to warm up to I just found him really boring at first. But both in design and personality Twitch shares a lot of the same traits I liked about Whirl in Rescue Bots.

Man, I _love_ my Cybertron Hotshot and Animated Bumblebee! I still own a copy of the Deluxe-class "Sports Car" Hot Shot (pre-mutilation via Megatron/Galvatron) from the initial release, and I own the Black-and-Gold repaint of Animated Bumblebee! Both are _awesome_ figures, and a great part of my childhood that I'll likely hold on to for a long, long time! They're both such quality figures, and both could be described as "kid appeal characters"! So it boggles my mind when they take the "kid appeal characters" of modern lines and make sub-par or straight-up utter garbage! You'd think they'd want to put their best foot forward on the character they're gonna market the most! Even if it's mostly "for the dumb kids that don't know better"!

I didn't have much money growing up so I had the mentality of one per series (except RID I was working and went a little nuts).
Cheetor: Only got his TM2 version along with TM2 Dinobot, Silverbolt and TM Tarantulas, never got any from Beast Machines.
RID: I went for the Supercharged Trio, because I wanted all three and I like those decos better for Prowl and X-Brawn.
Armada / Energon / Cybertron - Was not working so I had to pull back only got one per series (Blurr / Starscream / Override - would have got Thunderblast if I could find her).
Prime / RID2 - Again, not that much money so Arcee and Airacnid (now have their superior APC versions). Second series Strongarm and Starscream.
Movie Bumblebee - The jeep was one of the better ones, maybe the Cybertron version (I have Cliffjumper), wanted the Beetle version but the QC sucked so much I sought out the MPM version (my first one, then got Jazz).
Siege/Netflix - Not even going to get into what was wrong with that one (f***ing Hasblow), may get Goldbug if I can't get Flamewar and no other good Shattered Glass one comes out.
Cyberverse / Earthspark: Now this is my stand in for Bumblebee (used molding plastic to fill the arm and leg gaps), and Earthspark may be my stand in for Goldbug, Because I want the BAF from both of them.
Not a fan of the legs of the Legacy Hot Shot, but Armada Starscream needs his sparring buddy, may also get the ROTB Bumblebee.
Edit: Should have mentioned thanks to 'the thing that must not be mentioned' event that occurred, I was able to get out of debt and so can buy more frequently.

Evidence pointing to Cybertron Hot Shot being the 'kid appeal' character can be found with his Cybertron Defense figure, while in no way a bad toy it can immediately be noticed that while Scattershot goes from Scout to voyager class and Red Alert goes from deluxe to Ultra Class (remember when there was another size class between Voyager and Leader?) Hot Shot remained a deluxe, a clear effort on Hasbro's part to keep the Kid appeal character in the more affordable (if memory serves Deluxe were about £10 back then) price point, despite the fact that he was meant to be more powerful and the simple fact that a Chrysler ME Four Twelve (what TF Wiki cites as Hot Shot's originaj Cybertron toy's alt mode) is far smaller than a M1117 Armored Security Vehicle (CTD)

I've noticed that with Legion Class figures, they will once in a while shift the budget to give some of them above-average articulation. Cyberverse Cliffjumper for instance. For as many Legion Bumblebees as there are I've always thought it was odd that they didn't give any of them that better treatment. There isn't a single Legion Bumblebee, across Animated to Prime to Movie to Generations to RID2015 that has elbow joints, and most lack knee joints- which are usually something Legion Class can handle.

That Animated Bumblebee, dunno if it’s just me but I always hated him. Weakest figure in the line aside from maybe Leader Bulkhead and definitely Swindle due to the clear plastic. As a seven year old I hated the fact the feet were upside down and both copies I’ve handled had serious issues. The first’s torso flip joint got jammed and likely shredded immediately and the second one’s shoulder socket shattered. Also, for being so big in scale the dead eyes don’t help and he scales poorly.

The omission is to the criteria list. One other thing all these characters tend to have in common is mentality. Each character is one of the younger, brasher, more hot headed characters, with few exceptions/tweeks. The characters appealed to the kids because they acted more like kids.

I really REALLY hope that Hasbro does a 2.0 version of Studio Series Volkswagen Bumblebee!!!
It has potential, but I can confirm that while I like it, it is not the best Bumblebee toy at all! I got mine on Christmas, and it was nice, but they based it off of early concept art, AND the materials are just too delicate, and the amount of squeezing and pressing, and clear plastic, plus with the small size and complex engineering, it doesn’t make it really fun to transform back and fourth and the joints sometimes are too stiff or too loose! It’s fine for me, but since it was such an early design, and most modern studio series figures, especially from the Bumblebee movie as well as Bumblebee himself, have gone through a lot of refinements and better materials (for the most part), I feel it’s about time that Volkswagen Bumblebee gets a brand new mold, or at least, a heavy retool of the Jeep/Cybertron mold, using the new refined engineering and build quality! A couple things I really like about the recent Studio Series 100 ROTB Bumblebee from reviews I’ve seen is how the doors are actually yellow plastic with the clear windows being separate inserts screwed onto them, and how clean, simple, and effective the legs transform! The back of the car swivels inward forming the inner calves, and I think something like that could be carried over into a Volkswagen Bumblebee mold!

Energon got me into transformers and I got ironhide and jetfire in a 2 pack back then, tbh I only got it for jetfire but ironhide as a toy was really fun, it’s just his.. maine? I guess, that looked kinda lame

I never watched G1 as a kid. Beast Wars was my first Transformers cartoon. Considering the vast character roster in G1. Was Bumblebee really that popular?

Yep. Bumblebee's made appearances quite often in G1. One of the few characters to get a big old hug from Boss Bot himself.

I think you missed wheelie for season 3-4 of G1
