    Thank you for this video! Very educational and helpful to understand the construction of the mattress. I'm in the process of buying a mattress and want to know what I'm spending my money on. You guys really make it clear on what to look for when making such a big purchase.

    I have a Beautyrest Black L Class from 2021. I want to do mattress surgery and remove all the top foam layers. Do you sell the matress encasement? If so, how many inches would I need just for the main foam/coil layer? In your video, you mentioned 8 inches of pocketed coils. Would that be then about 12 inches altogether including the foam layer?

    Had my BRB Mariella for about 3 years. Paid about $3600. It has deep sunken spots in it. Started to fail after a few months. I’m fed up with back and hip pain. I’ve dissected today and ordering a firm latex foam to replace the junk.

      I’m switching to latex as well after three mattresses in 15 years. I wasn’t even familiar with latex until starting research a few days ago. Sounds like the perfect mattress was invested in the 1920’s and the industry has been cashing in selling disposable garbage for the last 15 years or so. I never heard of anyone replacing their mattress so often until the memory foam craze took over. My grandparents and parents used to have mattresses for DECADES before replacing them.

    Don’t they use fiberglass in the fire sock of the mattress? Is it safe to open that?

    I'm repairing my Beautyrest Mariela luxury firm mattress. Im removing all the layers of foam and replacing it with a medium firm 3" blended Dunlop/Latex talalay topper, and new zippered mattress cover, I'm just waiting for the call to pick up the materials

    IMO, that foam encasement is where most of your edge support comes from.

      If not edge to edge springs, what is the other option?

    • @humanchannel9421
      @humanchannel9421 7 месяцев назад +3

      Your opinion is correct in this case but wrong in the case of a quality mattress.
      Foam encasement is cheaper than using higher gauge, smaller springs at the edges like good mattresses do for support.

    Saatva also has 4 inches of foam encasing their springs. Why talk like it's a bad thing? That's where edge support comes from. You've dissected the bed, but still don't know what you're talking about.

    • @SR-ob3wn
      @SR-ob3wn 5 месяцев назад

      The foam will break down within a year or two defeating the purpose. This gimmick was invested by the industry to save costs. By using foam encasement, they decrease the number of springs by 18% thus pocketing that money. In an innerspring mattress, to provide edge support they usually use smaller, heavier duty springs to provide edge support instead of cheap foam. Do some research, the industry is scamming you into buying a new mattress every few years by purposely making inferior products.
